1%? I think someone is exaggerating a little. If it were just resource unit numbers, panels make up 17% of a set of chitin, based on swgcraft's lists.

Well, I'm an armorsmith and luckily never had much trouble along these lines.

My solution was I bought a factory, then made a business relationship with a tailor. I gave him full access to my factory for him to use as he needed it, and in return whenever he did a synth cloth or reinforced run he'd give me a crate for my use. Our needs per piece of armor is pretty small really, but TOTALLY necessary. That amount keeps me going strong.

It works out great for both of us, as 1 factory can easily sustain 1 armorsmith and 1 tailor.

Well if any of your armorsmiths are on Tarquinas, I have a boutique, and I stock syn cloth and reinforced fiber panels. These items are in stock all the time, open 24 hours a day, and yours for the purchasing without having to worry about whether I'm around or not.

My prices are:

2500 for a crate of syn cloth

3000 for a crate of reinforced fiber panels.

I will not sell schematics. I will however, trade resources for finished product, or will run the resources for a small fee (500 credits per 100 cloths or panels)

I'm not going to get into all the rare resources we need for specific items in our craft. Tailors have their own difficulties, the same as any other profession. My number one problem is that I pretty much have to personalize every outfit I make to the tastes of the customer, and that takes a hell of a lot of time. Therefore, I don't make much profit off clothes. Syn cloth and panels pay the bills --- harvesters, power, resources, maintenance.

We are all dependent on each other. We have to have architects to get factories, shops and harvesters. We need weaponsmiths and armorsmiths so we can hunt and get the hides and bone we need. We need healers and entertainers to restore our minds and bodies. None of us can exist alone.

Wow.. sorry.. got all philosphical on you there!

Anyway, let's try and promote the spirit of cooperation!

Just to reinforce my main point -- what you are making for armorsmiths is a subcomponent, and a relatively minor one at that. We're not asking for Black Gunman's Dusters schematics, we're asking for a subcomponent. Price gouging, griping, etc will only buy you embittered clients and, in the end, more competition. I don't think you all want this.

But giving away schematics will simply ruin us.

By giving out a schematic a tailor loses raw profit (vs selling crates of the item), XP from making the items to sell and WORSE off, giving the schematic allows the armorsmith to get TAILOR XP. The later is the worse one of all, in the end you could have armorsmiths who simply make their own tailor components.

Armorsmiths are in one of the richer professions. They should be willing to pay the fair value for the tailor's time.

let me rephrase this:

If a armorsmith was hasselling me to make a schematic when I was trying to sell the panels in a crate then I would sell them an obsolete schematic...

Ok, maybe I over-reacted and should be spanked... total resources for Chest Plate = 300, re-inforced fiberplast = 30(?)... which is about 10%.

My apologies for lashing out...

Iwas trying to find a schematic to make it myself, but now i know why Tailors won't do it.

Now that factory exp is set to 1/10th of normal exp, that should be much less of an issue in pricing schematics I would think. Given that new consideration, I would price a schematic at maybe half of what the equivalent number of produced items would cost - seeing as how it is no longer costing the schematic-maker any resources. And if you fear that the 400 or 500txp (whichever it is) an armorsmith will now get from a run of 100 panels will allow them to make their own eventually - well, there had better be conisderable emphasis on the eventually with this new development.

Yep, 10% of a chest plate, more on other parts since they use less of other things, averages 17%. We wont ask for 17% of your sale price, since panels are a lot easier to make. Based on what I hear armor is selling for, I think Im asking a little over 5% for panels. Will depend on how much your armor is selling for.

If BE's ever get to make factory crates of tissue, panel prices are going to skyrocket though

With XP at 1/10th, selling schematics definately looks less uninviting. Back to hand grinding.....

I was just wondering... Why dont they make it so that when someone uses YOUR schematic, YOU get the XP. Though it would have to be tweeked to balance, I think this would be accepted by everyone. What do you guys think?

I think it doesn't matter anymore with factory exp at 10%...

It matters less, but don't forget, when they finish the fix (hopefully today) someone will get that XP 24/7 as long as the factory is running. I don't know about others, but even trying to stay online while the factory ran, this will be more of a 50% less xp nerf than a 90% for me.

Im sorry, I've read this whole thread and I keep coming back to one point. What do you sell your armor for? How much money? 40k for a set of Chitin or Ubese? I've seen those prices. So, it takes what, 9 reinforced panels for a full set of Chitin or Ubeseright? So 1 crate = 2.7 Sets of armor. Now I usually throw in a few hand mades to bump that up to 3 full sets. I charge 7k for a crate of Reinforced Panels. I have them stocked on my vendor so there usually isnt a wait.

So for 7k in Reinforced panels you can make 120k.

40,000 for a suit of Chitin ? The person that priced that will never sell it. On the Bazaar I have seen full suits of Chitin going for 9000 credits.
