Tailor Archive
Thread: Items tailors rarely make and customers rarely buy (and why) Please add to the list.
Desert crawlers, although hideous, are actually good for Trandoshans, as pants get cut off for them and they get quite a cool knee pattern as the trim. However the color selection for them is terrible.
Smi
Cloaked Dress - It's like having shoulder pads that show.
Grand Healer's Robe - Even the smallest body looks enormous.
Luxurious Gown - Something about the scarf hanging down the front just does it in.
Women's Shoes - If you want your feet to look feminine, the Dress Slippers are the way to go.
Grand Twi'lek Headpeice - All the Twi'leks I have seen wearing headpieces have been wearing Lekku Wraps.
Warm Hat - Unless you're going for the bank robber look...
Pantaloons - 'Nuf said.
Some gloves, most bandoleers and belts - they just look dumb.
Most necklaces - Big, klunky and immersing themselves within the chest. Right.
Things I make and wear, but still haven't seen other people wearing:
Any modest dress or skirt - Pleated Dress, Sleeveless Dress, Intricate Dress (except as a wedding dress), Pleated Skirt, Modest Skirt, Wrapped Skirt
Noble Skirt, Dress Robe - I have NO idea why I haven't seen people wear these. IMO some of the best clothes in the game, and sadly neglected.
Twi'lek Bone Crest - It's pretty cool looking, just I guess everyone likes Lekku wraps better.
Belted Vest - Ok, so maybe it's a girl thing, but I like it.
Hey, first interesting thread in weeks. Good job. Here's my crap list:
Bandoliers: Just about all of them. I have to charge around 700c for most of these because of resources and it's just too much for too little. Plus, who wants one of these, because they don't work with packs. I make a couple, but usually only by request, which I've only had 1.
Belts: Pretty much everything but Single pocket, Decorative, and workman don't sell worth a crap
Headwear: Warm Hats ugly as sin.
Vests: Every vest are about as ugly and crappy looking except, Long vest, Mangy vest, short vest, and simple vest
Pants: Wrinkled pants, and other artisan level pants
Pullover: The pullover and the god-awful looking reinforced and expensive pullover
Jackets: Haven't sold one scout jacket, and coldweather jackets aint much better
Jewelry: Other than the emerald pendant, i don't make 'em cause you can't seem 'em.
I need to disagree with Benj on two paragraphs. Of the vests he lists, I think both the Simple Vest and the Bulky Vest are hideous. I've had exactly one customer buy a Bulky Vest - and I never see him wear it, eventually he smartened up. And the Simple Vest is good in theory, but it's so thick, and the colors are so washed out, that it's unwearable. Well, OK, it is just barely possible to get it to come out OK on a guy who's wearing all washed-out gray or all washed-out tans and browns, but only barely. The other night, a Twi'lek dancer asked me for on in spring green. I warned her about the colors, told her I would get as close as possible, and told her that she wasn't going to like it. Two minutes after I handed it over she sent me a /tell agreeing with me. Lots of girls want a vest that can be worn over a blouse that's open all the way down the front. But nobody wants it in that fit or color.
And the Pullover has always been a steady seller for me, but there's a "bellweather" effect going on there. Paired with Infiltrator Leggings and Uniform Boots, it's actually a very attractive look on most women, the best actual "minidress" we have in this game. It's a look that was popularized very early by one of the dancers at the starport cantina in Theed, so it still sells pretty well for me. (But nobody, and I mean nobody, buys it to wear as a vest.)
