Thread: Armorsmiths seem to WANT us to make the componants
You got it. AS are billionaires and tailors are lucky to maybe 8 million credits.
They charge us a heck of alot for the darn heavy leathers that no one will buy a crafters apron for such inflated prices. So unless friends supply the heavy leathers, you can't make any money from the aprons.
So armorsmiths are rich enough, so they can afford to pay higher prices for our goods. If wookiees don't buy their armor because it's too expensive, they will have to not make it, or drop the price. But don't blame tailors for trying to make money on an item that is completey useless to their profession.
Don't forget they will also be making mandolorian armor as well. I wonder what freakin components they will need from tailors on these?
8 Million credits? *gasp* OMG Chiana! I've been a tailor since release and I never in my wildest bank credit days have ever reached that much...lol...
You know what? Chiana is right though, we SHOULD be charging an arm and and a leg for components that we use thousands of our resources for. All professions are definetly off-balanced when it comes to credits in our economy. If we want weapons, brandy, armor - we have to pay what they charge if we want the items. They make tons of credits and we only see a small fraction of it!!!
Grrrr....I'm sorry, but I'm starting to get mad at armorsmiths secretly sending me tells now saying "hey, I need some of those armor pads in crates"

So... the armorsmiths sell you the heavy leathers for a lot? I don't understand, most AS's I know aren't combat characters and go out and get heavy leather, so how are they the ones that charge a lot for them. Sounds like some misdirected anger there.
I've also never like the anger towards AS because some of them are rich. If you are that jealous of the cash they have, become an AS. "But I love tailoring!" Well then deal with the fact that you'll never have as much cash as some of the rich armorsmiths.

So when designers like Prada and Dolce & Gabbana are in the market to buy bolts of cloth, zippers for jeans, buttons, etc , do you think the people that make these subcomponents think that they are going to charge an arm and a leg because a Prada suit goes for a few thousand dollars? If they do raise the prices of subcomponents, do you seriously think Prada wouldn't make there suits even more expensive? (Don't give me the this isn't real life garbage either).
If you became a tailor hoping to become rich, you picked the wrong profession. If you are having fun making clothes and accessories, why are you so concerned with how much money other professions make?
So, if you sell me the schematic for 50K (I provide you the resources and I take the schematic to do the factory run myself) I can make 200 suits. Well, actually it will be a bit less since I then have to make schematics for each piece and if there is a crit fail or something I might actually only have, say, 180 suits. If I then sell each suit for 50K (not sure what the going price is right now for wookie armor, but I sold advanced chitin for around that much with 50-60% resists to kinetic) that means I will make 9 million credits from that one schematic I bought for 50K. Not too shabby if I say so myself.
Of course you have to factor in how much was paid for the organic resources like the hide since many AS's don't hunt their own.
