as a master armorsmith I am a bit amazed at the responses by the tailor community, they have invaded the armrsmith boards, so I am coming over here to post a few of my thoughts.

many SWG players whine and moan for new content.....but when it comes whine and complain about it.

We are "whine and complain" because this is the 2nd time we have got new content that WE DIDN'T ASK FOR!!!!! we have some resaonable request that have be here for along time but have yet to be fix or added.

As an armorsmith, let me first say that I've never had a problem getting tailor schematics made up free of charge for me. Of course, I know a long line of tailors, and I've rarely had to ask, most of the time it's been offered. And if I ask, I offer to pay for their services and time.

I don't know about any other armorsmiths, but I won't buy pre-produced crated tailored components, unless they're on a custom order basis. I need exact serial numbers, and so it just adds another wrench in the gears if I have to worry about matching these up. Normally, this requires me to go pick up some grinding-quality material to bring to a tailor for the schematic to be made. When not being done as a favor, for free, for me, I've paid a decent penny just for the schematic to be made. I brought the materials to the tailor, and made sure to do it at a convenient time. The tailors know that they're losing out on a bit of money, if they were to produce it themselves, but they also don't have to sacrifice any of their factory time or materials on me.

If you feel so inclined, and since Armorsmiths should already have hide, wooly hide and fiberplast in abundance, offer this service to them. Make sure they bring enough materials for 3 or 4 combines, to allow for an all great-success assembly, experimented as they want. Since it's going to require more of your time then a simple Synthetic Cloth or Reinforced Fiberplast panel build, charge accordingly.

I have exceptional armorsmith clients who appreciate the components I provide, pay well, and are very nice. I have no issues with this addition. However Ido agree it should be useful in at least one of our tailored goods. As Ayianapa mentioned...if you don't want to make this component, just don't!

I have seen a number of good points, both pro and con, regarding the Padded Component for Wookiee Armour.

Here is my two credits:

As an Armoursmith, I found I needed to take Tailor(Field Wear 2) just so I could be self reliant. No offense to you tailors out there, but hey, it saves me the time of running around yelling "I need a schematic for 1000 RFP!" (which I can burn through in no time)

Personally, I think that this new development should make new tailors happy. Not ecstatic, but happy. The inter-dependency (or lack thereof) is necessary for a true player supported economy. Most chars don't use BE enhanced clothing (I have three toons that wear only armour or regular clothing) and armour seems to be the way to go.

There are some Armoursmiths out there that don't want to dabble in Tailor. Tailors, your services are needed.

If you are a tailor, and you are offended by the addition of this component, DON'T SELL SCHEMATICS...DON'T SELL CRATES OF THE STUFF!

Forgive me if this is incoherent....it is 7:30AM

The problem is that sometimes you get armorsmiths that literally 'beg' you to make componants. Someone did that to me yesterday morning. I told her if she dropped off the materials for the segments on my vendor, then left 2 suits of the completed armor for me to sell on my own vendor, that I would do it. She stopped sending tells after that. She also only offeredme 100k to make the segments, I cannot even BUY good quality hides for that price. If an armorsmith wants these from me, then they will need to bring me the supplies and let me sell a couple sets of the finished armor.

Chiana I'm with you 100% on that- some of the Armorsmiths in our galaxy are a little rude/thick.

While it's wonderful to say that "well if you don't want to make schematics/components just don't make them" the fact is that we still get asked repeatedly to do so. Some players are very nice and understanding that we either don't have the time or desire to do so for whatever reason, but others are downright rude and unplesant about it.

Tailoring is to a large extent based on reputation, and I don't like the fact that I seem to perpetually have the choice between making something I don't really want to make in the first place (and may not have time for IRL) or being percieved as a horrible bi*tch for not stopping my own crafting or leaving a hunt to make them something that a non-Master can make.
