I had this problem last week on Corellia. I've read that the problem is that after a resource shift, all animals now become"skinny" and thus drop 1 hide. This seems to be another recent change the devs made, lord knows why. In a couple days it will be back to "normal" for you. It's back to normal now on Corellia.

A man split up 1,000 units of hide and tried to sell each one for 3000. It is people like this that are putting stress on us, so I have to rely on friendly scouts I find in the city... which is quite seldom.

Good idea, blame the rangers because you have a poor business model. Maybe you should take a lesson from them, they obviously understand supply and demand a lot better than you do. If your materials cost more than you RAISE YOUR PRICES! Oh wait...your customers are already used to rock-bottom walmart savings from you? Well then you dug your own hole. I don't see how you can blame a man charging 30,000 credits for 1000 hides on me. All I said is that its ridiculous to charge that much. And, had you read my posts, I said that I cannot sell boots for as low anymore.

Sheesh man, take a chill pill. I don't get what you people have against a cheap business. I completely admitted that I do not make the epidemical profit most tailors do, and I am okay with that fact.

All I ever said was that people are overcharging prices on their hides, so now I raise prices.

Hi Gang!

Thank goodness that harvesting is back to normal. If you read my post in another similar thread, I am a self sufficient, Master Tailor. I went on a harvesting rampage and yes, it IS back to normal! Yesterday, ina few hours, I harvested over 2k hides. Thank goodness, I can do this again. Now I know a lot of you do not like to hunt, survey etc. I on the other hand love it!! I love my breaks to go and shoot things,lol. It sure helps with the occassional pesky customer! Anyhoo, I am thrilled!! Give it a day or so and you will be back to paying normal prices for your hides, or let's hope. Worse case scenerio, everyone got to like the prices they were getting for their hides and will continue to try to sell them at that for a week or so.... I say phooey on them! If you need the hides.. go and get them! You'd be surprised how much better you feel when you get out and do something else for a while!!

This seems to happen now, when the types of hide shift on a given planet.

Seems they weren't happy with artisians not being able to sample when a new resource came in, so they had to shaft the scouts who harvest hide as well.

Thank you Kasuta, it is so good to see an occasional instance of maturity and humility on these wild and crazy forums... If more people could do this (myself included sometimes) things might be a lot more civil here, and there might be more actual "communication" taking place..



As for the pricing Peeyo, you might want to have a look at the ranger boards.. I think a good portion of them feel that 30cr per unit should be the standard price for high quality hides..That is not to say that I agree with them, or that I disagree with them, it is simply what I read.. Also, there is much debate on the issue among them, so not all feel this way.. I will say that when dealing with an "economy" anything that happens which affects supply and demand is going to cause a change in the value of certain things... If you are expecting to be able to keep a constant pricing structure forever, you may want to be prepared to be disappointed, especially if you choose to not leave yourself a cushion in your pricing..

Personally, I think I understand what you are getting at, as I myself do on occasion enjoy giving a low cost outfit to a confirmed newbie, and giving discounts to regular customers.. However, that is something I typically keep very quiet about, and ask the person invovled to keep quiet about as well.. It can indeed be a good business practice with a new entertainer, to get them out of the desert crawlers and into an inexpensive outfit, knowing they will want more clothes soon, and will more then likely come to you.. However, I'm not sure that it good business to be known for this.. For me, it works better to be known for good service, for knowing my customers, and for taking the time to make sure they have what they want... An important part of service is very often making samples, and absorbing the loss for things the customer doesn't like.. If you don't keep enough of a cushion, it becomes much harder to do that.. But, that's just my style of play, and we all have to do what works best for us.. The important thing is that you enjoy what you are doing.. If you are having fun, then you're successful as a tailor, as far as I'm concerned..



A suggestion if anyone is still having difficulties getting the hides they need.. There are a lot of entertainers who occassionally run low level missions for extra cash... Many of them are more then willing to grab the hides from their kills and trade them to you for a discount on their purchases.. Because their is a profit in clothing, when you give 3k worth of clothing for 3k worth of hide, you are not actually "paying" 3k for it, so it can save you some money in the long run.. Most of the people I deal with are more then happy with a value of 3cr per unit of hide.. Just a suggestion, for what it's worth..

Things like this (annoying as they are) really show that the player-run economy is real and working. In real life, temporary shocks at some part of the supply chain really do cause big discombobulations down the line - the energy crisis of the '70s being a particularly vivid example. Demand and supply both adjust....

Personally, I've found that establishing a good constant supply source works. I've got a standing offer to buy hides at 3 credits per unit, and I never really felt any pinch from the hide shortage. Had a big stockpile due to that policy, and there are still people happy to sell to me at that price.

Well there are a lot of hides sold right now on sunrunner, but wolly hides skill go for 10+ each... At this price I harvest my own.
