Thread: Please welcome our new Tailor Correspondent!
I pretty much agree with everything that's been said, so I won't bother repeating everything
And while not an issue, I'd like to throw out my One Wish Item: Something similar to Image Design window where the customer can see the colors, maybe even pick it themselves so they know exactly what colors they are getting.
May The Thread Be With You!
/cheer Alichai!!!
Good choise for correspondant in my opinion. After the time I spent with you in Beta, I'm sure you will be great at this job.

Welcome! Glad to have you as our voice from looking at the few well thought out posts you already have going.
I was a master tailor in beta and at least from that reguard can help you out with what was, and was not addressed in beta. I am 4 skill boxes from master tailor in live (without using massive factory xp) and would be quite happy to give you my perspective from a working tailors point of view. (I sell everything I make, no grind and destroy).

Grats Ali - i don't know you personally but i am happy you are taking a lets work as a team approach.
most of my gripes are listed ( decay , necklaces not showen, colors, sorting of some type in crafting window ) but i will add one i have not seen yet...
FIX the the Dang belts!. these things are Ugly and stickout 2 feet from the bodies. i don't even bother trying to sell a belt.
also for sorting tabs for different lvl's of tailoring would be nice with a sample showen. The data pad already shows the items in it - so why not allow for a data pad taht can be used to help put togher an outfit.. ?
i know of a Very nice and high lvl tailor on Naboo, in Chilstra out of Theed jsut a bit. you might want to give me an in game email if you want to talk to her. she has at any given time 3-6 customers in her shop
i'm sure she has a few issues that maybe of interest to you.

Hello, Ali, and Welcome!
So glad to have a Tailor Correspondent that is serious about the profession. My husband is a Bio-Engineer, and they were not so lucky - their first correspondent actually had dropped the profession the week before!
I'm pretty new to all of this, only a Novice because I came in with the thought that I would probably play a combat character since that was all I had ever done, and then someone in our group/guild asked if anyone could make Synthetic Cloth, and my "grind" to tailor began. (By the way, I hate that whole grind thing, but I see it as a means to an end - it's time consuming, boring, unproductive - but soon I will be able to make useful and beautiful things, I hope!). Once I stopped and made my first blue sleeveless dress and put it on, I was in love. I actually sewed my own clothes for 20 years (and yes, I am a grandmother!!!) and so this is just a dream for me!
You've already gotten all the big stuff - colors, colors, give us colors! Textures would be nice. And a sort or color code that tells us if an item is general crafting or tailoring would be helpful early on (yes, for the grinders).
You know what I would like - and this is so far fetched, I know - but someday I would like to design our own clothes -- Sleeve A - Skirt B - Bodice C - Length D - Texture E - Fabric F. It's intense, but everything in this game is pretty in depth. And of course that would be a master crafter item - a designer item. Yes, and the option to show a customer what something would look like before it's created would be helpful.
Well, good luck and thanks so much for your time on this!
Perhaps you could question the insane xp scale compared to other classes. When we average very low amounts of xp (consider I am novice) why are our xprequirements higher then most other classes? I average about 1-2k xp per hour. You are talking 15 hours to reach 1 skill box. 60 hours for level 1 full. Then you get into the 55k xp. The amount of time to climb the Tailor skill tree is ridiculous. I know buddies who grind half the time I am and are whipping up the armorsmith tree, whipping up the architect tree, and here I am still at novice with 6k of Tailoring xp. This is ridiculous. The low amount of xp we get per item does not equate to the high xp per skill box. How is a tailor supposed to advance when we can make a bunch of *edit* items that are hard to build a customer base. This issue really needs to be brought up, because it makes no sense to me.
Zeriax, you just need to grind. There's not casual about it. If you intend to level faster than you are already leveling, you need to just gather up thousands of resources and set aside an hour or two of constant grinding. That means no chatting, no breaks, no pausing, no tells, no bio breaks, no interaction, no lag, no nothing. 4 shirts/beltsevery minute for 60 minutes. You'll advance ok that way. You'll hate yourself for it. Your arms and wrists will be in agony. You'll hate Sony for it, but that's the only way to get ahead of the curve anymore.
With the new reduction in UXP as well, it very well might be the only way to level period, since that few thousand a night you get for making items will be greatly diminshed by losing the UXP you got for subparts. Instead of getting 1000xp for that complex four part shirt, you'll get 300xp. Just an example, but DE's were complaining about nearly a 50% drop in XP of their multipart crafting so I imagine it will be the same for tailors. I don't have the patience to grind up back to Field IV on Test Center to check that out for myself though.
I've started doing most of my grinding in the cantina. I chat, I train, I trade, and it breaks up the monotony nicely. It may not be the most efficient method in the world, but it sure beats sitting in my workshop by myself.
It's also a fine way to pass time when I'm waiting for a shuttle to do a hide run.
Sorry this is a bit late, but welcome and congrats Alichai!
Look forward to reading the tailor boards a bit more (just found the profession boards the other day...doh!) ![]()
Id just like to say Salutations!

I've some fun ideas to make Tailoring interesting. They build on each other into something quite Epic. I know your just working on the basics but here are some of my ideas perhaps could be used later.
1. Have Quest Schematics - I wish that all Additional Schematics added to the Tailoring line would have to be quested for. The whole all your schems comes with each level is pretty boring. Some of these should be easier than others - Easy common to Rare elite. This would boost the economy for tailors and make each one have a chance for that economis uniqueness again as it was when we were first getting them while leveling to master.
2. Have some of the cooler items require extremely rare resources. I recently saw that like some food could be made from the eggs found when searching in a boss mob cave. Thats what Im looking for here. To make it real interesting I think that some of them should be in a hard place to get to and only hand sampled. That way a dedicated tailor would have to have some friends to make it to the end of a cave etc and then hand sample the materials... the pressure should always be on and get harder and harder to stay so that only a small fraction of the resource would be gotten.
3. Make Faction CLothing. Example would be Ewok Designs. You find a Ewok Factional Schematic. It makes a cool hood. Well it requires that you use a special Crafting tool and machine found in a Ewok village. This would make it so that only people who had ewok faction could make these items.
4. Improved Pallete quests - the same could be done for rare colors. Perhaps there could be some rare spawning flowers or materials that when added into any item would result in a special pallete of color.
5. Combine all these into a super long quest and we have an epic. 8) But any part would rule as it would make tailoring interesting and give my bodyguards a reason to take me out on a hunt with them.
Khamier when on earth would a tailor even have time to go on quests? I am so busy as it is, when ... when would I ever be able to go on a quest ![]()
Nice ideas though.
I just wish they would make clothes degrade.
I was thinking that certain races could/should be able to make race specific special clothing. There are a ton of human tailors so if each race had some kind of special/unique race only item that this would really help create another market and help the profession as a whole. Me being like the only bothan tailor would have a distinct and unique item or items that I would make just for bothans that no other race could wear. Of course it would have to be way cool, like the GRAND HEALERS ROBE....
Vandessa will be helping theTailor community by keeping us informed on the major issues with theTailor profession. Keep in mind, this title will be rotated monthly to take the stress off the current correspondent and to help us get the best feedback possible. ![]()
We'll announce when we're looking for the nextTailor Correspondent, but until then, help me welcome Vandessa toher new rank!
