2. I would support recolorization of clothing by Tailors if:

  • Thechange was permanent.
  • It could only be done by the creator of the item.
  • If only the creator can do it, the item name be alterable.

The only reason I see a need for this is to alleviate those times when a customer wants a specific colour of something and you mess up. I.e., I have enough bristley hide for one Pilot's Jacket. I get it a shade too dark. Why shouldn't I be able to just fix the colour?

Honestly though, if we were given the much-sought "imaging tool" so that we could show the customer firsthand before making an item what they'd look like and what colours were available, I'd take that above recolouring.

Save the dyepacks for IDs to make so I can have blue hair, I say.

I would not support any form of colorization ,,I would rather have developer time spent on one new hat or one new dress,,whatever ,,but not colorization

I have changed my mind.... Knowing how the devs work, any attempt they make will mess things up. I vote NO to Dye jobs, no recolourization, no dye packs. You want Red, go buy red. You want green now? The store is in the same spot. It's not like clothes are that expensive anyway. Heck, selling boots for 500 credits is almost a joke, when people are making 50k credits or more on some missions. People have money to buy 3.5 million credit pearls, yet they are whining about having to get a set of clothes recoloured because they changed their mind, or feel like a new colour is more to their likeing this week?

It's not that I mind the idea of being able to change clothing colours. I do feel that any attempt to implement this will be in the worst way possible. Fix bugs, then play with this stuff on TC when the game is mostly fixed.

Chances are, the art teamwould not handle the coding involved in giving us the hypothetical option to recolor. Just remember there are multiple teams working on different projects.Another thought, say a devis slated to do two different items for a profession...a big project in great demand, and an easy quicky project in lesser demand, and he/she has 30 mins left in their day, it might be easy to knock something little out Just a general comment to say that something being done doesn't necessarily blow other things out of the water.

While it may be true that it might not take too long to add recolorization,,I still think its just an addition to an overwhelming list of issues that need attention from what ever team does it. My main issue with recolorization is that it has no real benefit to tailoring,,think ,,even in real life dyeing is almost never considered ,,we just go buy a the new color or a different color,,

I see nothing positive coming from having dye kits in any form but I do see a huge negative to our sales since whether dyed once ,,twice or five times ,,its still less items being bought and sold by tailors in a game that needs to continue to have demand for clothing.

Its the same as coloring vehicles,,a meaningless change,,it's not increasing the enjoyment of playing the game,,most veteran players are simply bored and creating content is what they should be attending to ,,not meaningless issues that help noone and save subscriptions.

Part of the concept of being a quality tailor is to be able to provide a shop with displays and color ideas and then knowing how to translate a color request into an item that will satisfy the customer,,dye kits do nothing but destroy the need for more than one item of anything and I will continue to express opposition to this idea.

it was recolorization of clothing from a factory crate...however...

I'm sorry to say that I don't think this would occur in the manner that *we* (tailors) wish it to happen and I don't think the devs can be that specific about who and what gets recolored. Its nice to dream I guess.

  • Any Tailor would be able to do it, and it would be tied to their skill level.

  • It could only be done once or a few times per item of clothing.

  • It could only be done by the creator of the item.

Why do people keep insisting that you need a shop to be a "good" tailor???
Sorry for going OT, but this drives me crazy

My suggestion is this. Allow Master Tailors to craft a clothing customization kit which will allow customers to color their own clothing once and exactly once. How to determine whether the item has already been colored? Check the items default color scheme. If it's defaulted, allow the item to be colored. If it's not defaulted, it's already been colored and can't be changed any further.

I constantly put items up on my vendor people want in another color. This would seriously simplify the process, allowing customers to select their own colors.

I have similar issues with other crafting skills having the only say over customization. For example, I hate the fact that my R2 is a different color every time I call it. I hate the fact that my clients can't see their own hairstyles or eye colors. I hate the fact that my customers can't specify their own clone colors. These are forms of customization I'd rather leave to the client, making my life that much simpler.

To Dex,,

What I was saying is that if a customer can see various items on display in different colors they have an easier time describing the color they want and you by labeling the item as a certain shade of color can then match to the customers description.

As to what a tailor is and a quality shop,,think about this one simple concept,,in real life you dont go toa street corner to buy your clothes,,no,,,you go to a store with lots of different styles, colors and sizes,,and even if you catalog shop you still can see a picture of what you might be thinking of buying,,why should tailor shops in this game be any different.

Rather than have developers spend time added dyes or whatever,,I 'd rather have one new hat, dress, or pants to offer to my customers,,recoloring makes literally no sense to me as a tailor and wont help our profession at all,,,it might harm it but wont help,

Jaela: I totally understand what you're saying. Some people (me) have no interest in "wasting" what little play time they have to restock a vendor for a couple hours every time they login, it's just not my idea of fun. And there's way too many tailoring shops set up on the planets I'd want one on, so it's doubly fruitless.
It just bugs me that people tend to throw around "being good" and "having a shop". I have a bad case of wanderlust and want to be out there doing things. This is why I wish we had a "catalog" to show people in game.
