Thread: Tailor grind: The future?

Yeah, I love my factory! Anything that takes a bit of the mindless drudgery of tailoring - like handcrafting those **edit** metal fasteners - away is fine by me....

And as for those schematics, a tailor had to sell the schematic *to* an armorsmith, so that's something. And they only are good for 100 items max before the armorsmith will need more crates, or another schematic.

This may apply only to me, but I'm going to stretching to get in 10 hours a week. And when I am on, I look for people who I like or have helped me or both. And those people are rapidly advancing to the point where I feel like I'm in their way.

I also feel like that by the time I make it to tailor, no one is much going to need me. There will be so many clothes available from master tailors with factories that no one will need my lesser hand made items.

Basically my lack of playing time makes me feel shut off from the community and from game. So there isn't much to keep me playing, but perhaps that is my fault rather than the game's.

I am in your same shoes. Don't feel too bad. One thing I would recommend is to get yourself a large (2k or more) stack of fiberplast. You should only have to run a few mission to buy that. Then make yourselfas manytravelpacks as you can and put them in your bank box. Now everyday you play add 5 travel packs to the bazaar along with 15 assorted cloths items. If you make the right items in the right colors they "should" all sell.

My example: all prices subject to market value

5 travelpacks - $500 each = $2500

2 casual jackets (black) $300 each = $600

4 leather gloves (black) $200 each = $800

5 banded boots (black again) $500 each = $2500

2 pants (guess what color) $200 each = $400

2 wookiee simple wraps $300 each = $600 NOTE: these don't seem to sell unless I add wookiee to the front

2 weighted wookiee pullovers $500 each = $1000

2 weighted wookiee hoods $500 each = $1000

1 wookiee wrist wrap $300

For a grand total of about $10K minus all your bazaar posting fees/resource costs/travel

I also saveon travel cost & time by onlyposting in1 or 2 bazaars (mostly 1)

Yeah, I don't use my factory for XP per se but obviously I get the XP while it's making synthetic cloth etc.

Nowadays, even for items that don't require identical components I still use factory components because it's so boring to make them.

It goes to 1000 actually, you just have to type the value.

Travel around your server and look for whats on the bazaar. I see a few "high end" items and and lots of artisan lvl casual pants/shirts. There is nothing ever in between, except lts of travel packs. ...

Maybe where you are, the in-between stuff sells. In the meantime, let me tell you - 90% of the customers who approach me want something that can not be made below Casual 3, Formal 3, Field 3, Tailor4 or so. They want spec ops dusters, they want skimpier dancewear, they want the elaborate Naboo nobility styles from Phantom Menace. They want all of this in colors I can't produce. When I can't do any of the things they want, 3 out of 4 of them turn away.

I had no intention of grinding . . . but I'm going to have to do some of it. Because I'm already seeing Master Tailor items advertised on my server at prices roughly equal to 1.25 credits per resource, at absolute bare minimum break-even - prices so cheap that my potential customers can afford the outfit and the round-trip starship ticket for about what I can afford to charge them for stuff that isn't even what they really wanted.

Sure, some of what I make does sell. I can sell Military Travel Packs for 500 and still make enough money to feed my harvesters, even with having to buy the leather for 7 to 10 credits per unit - worst case, I step just outside the city and harvest squalls for an hour or so. At that price, I can barely keep them in stock some days. But they don't use nearly the amount of resources that a ribbed shirt does, and they use up the same amount of crafting time, so if I made nothing but those, two things would happen. One, I'd super-saturate the market and they'd stop selling. And two, I'd be gaining XP at one third the rate I could. And I'd still be a long, long way away from making the clothes that my friends want.

Griding is boring, repetitive, and mind-numbingly awful. But I may have to do a week or so of it to get to the absolute minimum levels where I can meet my potential customers' demands.

Thank you. I love having a plan. If it works, that is even better. The only problem is that I can't make most of these things yet. I'm still an artisan with only one level in crafting. In fact, when I got that level, the number of things that i can make didn't increase. Am I doing something wrong there?

But thanks for the hope. I've gotten 1k of fiberplast and I'm working on getting that much alluminum. Hopefully I can make something with that that will make me some money.

I would give the same lists as oneofdazz. Black black and more black, backpacks, and wookiewear. All are very reliable sellers.

I would add to check the bazaar's planetary listings for areas that are underserved. On Wanderhome currently one city on Tatooine has a price war that has travel packs down to 200 and 20 or so listed. Two other cities have no packs whatsoever listed. Take a few travel missions, load up the bazaar, and then take missions home.

Thank you. I will take that advice. All the really good tailors have set up stores in the wilds, but there are lots of lesser ones selling stuff in Theed.

Most advanced tailors don't sell clothing on the bazaar because the listings are not filterable. Your stuff ends up on page 5 behind 10,000 casualpants priced at 5cr.I used to move a ton of wookiewear through the bazaar, but now that we're on multiple pages of listings in my home city, I don't sell anything. Eventually I gave up.

Packs which still fit on one page still move quite well though. As does the wookiewear at my shop -- in fact I have a parade of wookies in looking for it.

A parade of wookies... there's an image to conjure with

The bazaar clothing category needs a breakdown like armor, with subcategories for headgear, footwear, pants and skirts, jackets, shirts and blouses, robes, gloves, jewelry, accessories, wookiewear, and whatever else I forgot.

Ok Ericone,

Your at Domestics 1 right?

That should be an easy hurdle to past only like 1000 exp or something. My advice to you would be get a travelpack from the bazaar (if you shop you should be able to pick one up for $200-$400) Then start pumping out those fiberplast panels wich I think are something like 30 exp each! You WILL need them throughout your profession so make a LOT of them fill up a travel pack full of them. Heck fill up two travel packs with them and put one of the packs in your safe deposit box. By making these panels you should gain enough EXP to get to the next skill box. You wont make any money doing this but at least you will have a good stock of panels at your disposal. And now you will have 3000 more exp by churning out those panels that you will be using. At this point you should by at or very close to Domestics 3, from there you can use most of the plan that I wrote out for you before. Focus on your multipocket belts, casual jackets (requires a fiberplast panel) and your weighted wookiee pullovers (all black). You can try some of the other colors but black sells. Heck you might stumble accross a new market for yellow color items...not likely but you might.

One word of advice: If the bazaar in your area is selling the type of items that you plan on selling for a very low price, travel around a bit you might be able to find a better market in a different city. You would be amazed how much a $110 shuttle ticket can increase your profits.

Absolutely. You don't need to travel either, just set the bazaar to planet or galaxy wide and start paging through.

Anchorhead -- travel packs sell for 200cr, military for 500.In Espa travel packs are there for 1750. Noother city on Tatooine has any packs at all listed. Take a shuttle? Heck, I flew in from Naboo and sold my entire bazaar allocations worth of packs overnight.

Thank you again, OneOfDaZZZ and Numtini. Tips printed and set by the computer for frequent referal.

Probably a different topic, but I wonder what the tailoring economy is going to look like two months from now when (hopefully) a lot of us 10 hour a week players get to master? Hell, I wonder what the worlds are going to look like. Just wandering about Naboo this morning looking for aluminium, it was hard to swing a dead tonton without hitting a mining operation or guild town or both and the game hasn't been going a month yet.
