I thought I posted this already, but maybe it's somewhere else.
this isn't tailor specific but how bout a vendor droid, similar to a barker droid, but you can put a limited amount of product in it, say 10 items, have it march around NPC cities like a barker but sell stuff instead. Think back to Episode 6, with R2D2 on the sail barge as a bartender droid.
Or how about a vehicle repair droid. Be nice to be able to reapair your bike in the wild or be able to avoid paying the garage fee. Give it some kind of timer which correlates to the amount of damage on the vehicle.
My impression of the movies is that droids were much more pervasive. They're everywhere. One of my other suggestions in core systems was to limit the amount of languages a person can speak/comprehend (but give different professions bonuses for acquiring more ie doctors, merchants, smugglers, commando, medic). So then how about a protocol droid that actually translates for you.
That, and make batteries with more charge. Maybe this is a crafting issue, using good materials to make uber batteries, but seems to me that all too quickly i get the 'low power' from any of my droids.

in a recent patch, they changed battery life to last 4 times as long.
so a droid battery now lasts for 4 hours instead of 1 hour (of constant droid calledtime)
personally, the best droid batteries i've ever made had 4 charges per battery.

On another note, what is the explaination of not being able to take something out of a crate, such as a crate of batteries,
Simple answer is that Decrating stuff is option 2 or 3 I think while equiping is option 1 so that is why you can use it in a hot Key.
However, the way crates function is that they accually Craft the Iteam when its pulled out and it causes problems when that Iteam is not in your main inventory. Way back when you could not even Decrate stuff in your backpack.
