Thread: Droid functions youd like to see added to SWG

Oooo! A mobile mini-factory! What a fantastic idea!

My dream-droid: 3PO droid with armor/clothing crafting station, larger item storage, mini-factory, ability to speak (a few canned phrases according to type of personality chip installed), nameable, and re-colorable.

Coloring: I bought a 3PO droid special ordered in dark blue. Once he faded back to default silver, I was dismayed to find out he could not be re-colored.

Naming: Please fix it so "humanoid" type droids can be named.

Impossible dream: Make droid modules swappable like ship components?

Maintenance droids already exist. they do not deposit power, only credits. i have heard that they can be bugged though. i'm only 1-1-0-1 in Droid Engineer so far, as i'm been focusing on mastering Tailor first, so I can't make the droids yet to test them, but there are Maintenance droids out there.

Yep. Structure Maintenance Droid. Can maintain up to 9 structures (houses, factories, harvesters). Will pay maintenance. Cannot add power or retrieve resources. You can call it, assign it to structures, and how much to pay on each. It can go to any planet or several planets. When you call it to go do a maintenance run, off it goes. (But actually it just goes back into your datapad. It doesn't really go buy shuttle tickets and go planet hopping.) It takes "time" to do the runs. The farther away it's round trip is, the longer it will take for the droid to complete the runs. But you can call another droid while the Maintenance droid is "out."

They are buggy right now though. If you redeed a structure the droid was assigned to maintain, or if it burns down, the droid will become broken and no longer function. There is a workaround posted in the DE forum, but it doesn't work all the time. The fix apparently needs to be applied very soon after it breaks or it won't work. To keep the droid from becoming broken, you must remove all structures from it's maintenance list before you redeed ANY structure on that list. Which makes it being a harvester maintenance droid pretty much a waste. Unless your harvesters are in a static farm.

Oh yeah! A mannequin droid would be great! Either as just a chassis or one that could follow you around. Instead of just using vendors. (Has a couple vendors standing around just to drape clothes on) And not one that keeps the clothes like vendors do. If being used to model outfits you are trying to show to a customer, you don't want them to be wasted onto the droid.

I like the idea of having an addition to storage space in droids. 10 is definitely not enough, especially with all the new stuff that had been thrown in the game since launch. We're loot pieces, new types of resources, crystals, different types of Village-related Ores, etc. It would be reasonable to have 50(?) storage spaces in the droids, but I would be very happy if they were upped to like, 20 or something.

I'm gonna go with the two that Mystrys has said.

A manequin droid or even jsut manequin droid chasis that are able to wear clothes. Hmm on second thought I don't think I like that idea. I guess tailors or archs should be able to make dressable manequins so doesn't fit in the droid thread. (A droid wearing clothes just wouldn't look right or fit in to the context of SWG)

The minifactory, however, is a great idea. Perhaps something like the flight computers for JTL. You can burn a chip with a certain schematic type on it and place it in the droid. Sort of an infinite use schematic. Then just make sure the droid has enough resources in it. The droid will have a storage limit on chips so maybe it can only fit 50 diffferent schems in it.

So when someone asks for a pair of casual shoes, you just click the droid, select casual shoes and it asks you what colors. You select the colors and it makes the shoes for you. Not too complicated and not to rediculously easy. It's basically justan automated sewing machine.

This would allow us to spend more time working on colors and designing outfits rather than slaving away on the craft screen. We don't need to pick uber materials and we rarely ever have to experiment so we should have a way around the whole click next stuff. A walking sewing machine/mini automated factory would be excellent.

DEs are definatly experts at asking for some kind of function for the BLL. Heck the Base modle is LESS useful then the Standard MSE "Mouse" Droid. In otherwords you can store More stuff in that little tiny mouse droid then in the basic HUGE BLL.

Any fuction for the BLL is a good thing for a DE but I digress. Thanks for the Imput into our profession, as we really want to make droids that are usful to you but as we are Engeer's and not Tailors is kinda hard to figure out what would be usful. I love the Holo Maniquin Idea if its feasable. I would even sugjest making it certed to Master Tailor.

This would prove to be a fair compramise for tailors out there who may not have the needed merchant skills to have NPC vendors and the skill to dress them. However what would such a droid look like? You have to remember that certain clothes typescannot be equipped by certain races. (such asWookies can't wear pants)Would you be able to make it physicllylook like an "attractive" member of what ever race it is?

While we are brainstorming about more possible schematics to pile on to poor DEs*snickers* maybe the option to crate the droid and have it based off a certain race. Lets say a wookie. Well if the DE could make it somehow have the same general build as a Wookie, then it would in essence act like a wookie vendor and the clothing rules would still apply. It would tell you the droid cannot wear comfortable slacks if you tried to have it wear them. Same would go for gender specific clothes.

So my question is could they make an NPC function as a droid, and have it look like a certain race of the DEs choosing, and let the tailor make it equipp clothes. Just please don't make this so that you wouldhave to be a master tailor to do this. Thisshould be a droid just like any other and usable by anyone no matter how far along they are in tailor. The droid could have a feature like storage on other droids, that you can access, maybe with a limit of only 8 or 10 garments. Then you can havethe droid equip the garment of your choosing in the same way players equip clothes in their normal inventory, via the radial menu, but you can only have the droid wear what is in the droid's "inventory".

Love the mobile factory idea - even if it could only do one crate of items. For things like synthacloth it would bevery useful as I find myself sometimes running out of this while crafting away from my home

Holo Maniquins go without saying - brilliant idea

How about using the BLL to move entire contents of houses, vendors or factories. I know that would be useful if I wanted to move my vendors around or our mayor wanted to move houses some place else. Or if I just wanted to move the contents of a factory into a storehouse. I envisage it working like this:

  • Player takes out BLL droid

  • Player specifies the a "from" and a "to" destination

  • Driod transfers contents to new structure/vendor/factory.

I think the Idea is to have the Droid project the Desired Species/gender much like Artoo did with the "Help me Obi Won Kenobie" message. I think maybe it can use a new interface simalir to the current(new) "Space Droid" enterface perhaps crossed with the ID interface. where the Left side list all the Schemadics you know shown as in the crafting tool, Center is the scelected race/gender(in raceial defuilt) and is certed to the tayors 000X colum (novice Tailor can only show themselfs, then Human/Twe'lik, then Sulstan/Zeb, then Rodian/Bothan, then Ithorian/wookie/Trando.), However if the tailor of any skill level is grouped with a PC and selcets "Start a Fitting" from the radial menu on the other PC then the ceter would be the PC resieving the Fitting, the last colum would be the color choice colum. Once the fitting it aprovied by both parties the Droid generats a 1 time use schemadic based on the fitting info (it would contine all the resource requirments of the iteams used in the fitting and retain the color choices). The taylor makes the schemadic and out pops the iteams that make up the fitting outfit(all with simalar names given in the crafting prossess) Like you call it "Outfit 1" what is generatied is Outfit 1(shoes), Outfit 1(Hawtpants)...

DEs do have alot of useless schemadics like lvl 1 storage mods, and all our optional Iteams are all under 1 heading but we can live with having more

I would prefure that the only Droid looking like any race be the one owned by the leader of the black sun

I defintally think that we should have a droid that can go get things from the factories and put them in it for you...THat would be great!

Also MORE STORAGE~ you can barely fit anything in the droids we have now. The mannequin idea is i think great or that should just be something an architect could make.

If you could a delivery droid would be great too that would save so much time of traveling 2km to give somthing to someone then going back to where you started

Im afraid you lost me there. Leader of the Black Sun?

A holo projection would be cool, but Im thinking very hard to write the code into the game. Unless you mean the "holo image" would be in a window similar to that of IDs? And one that both tailor and customer could see? The idea is similar to suggestions in the past about a player having the option I think on vendors or something to select a piece of clothing, and open a window sort of like an ID window and get to see the clothes on their person before buying. Only difference is that method would not involve the tailor in the process, and the player would seem to be limited to just what is on the vendor. Where as with the tailor involved, the customer would get to see everything and in the colors available.

Heh..no more people getting upset that they cannot have bright red boots or something..so i would hope they would do that in addition to making a universal color pallet for clothes.

That is exsactly what I mean though I wish a true holo projector would be possable.

As far as the other person, it's a caritor in Shadows of the Empire (where the black sun came from) I just don't recall the Leader guys name or the androides name though I think its Guri
