Thread: People are funny
my my what a thread, looks like we have about 3 conversations going on here... im gonna comment, cause i just cant help myself!!
1. schematics... i have NEVER charged for schematics.. yes, it will cost that person 300k to buy those equivalent crates off of another tailor, but it also costs that other tailor all those resources... making a schematic out of the customer's own resources cost me ZERO creds and practically no time.. i dont even have to wait for the crafting tool to count down the item, it's instant... and its not like i have to be a master tailor, work for hours and hours and hours and pay thousands of creds to train for the skill... it's not such a rare skill.... do i make money making schematics? sure!! my grateful customers almost always tip me for my time...
If selling components was part of my business it might be different, but i refuse to sell components, they are just too hard to keep in stock, when im asked for components i actually suggest that they bring me resources and i'll make a schematic instead... easy for both parties...
2. player training... well, i've been capped on APs for so long i dont care about it
if they wanna come to me i'll train.. i'm not threatened by the added competition as i have a strong customer base on corbantis and i know most of the trainees are just grinders anyway...
3. guild's expectations on their own personal tailors - heh yeah, this one im sure is felt by all tailors in a guild, but as was said by donnah, just set the policies and if they are a good group there should be no problem. Like Donnah I often make free stuff for the guild, especialy if im having a great day in sales, it's not always, it's not expected, and it's appreciated when it happens. I offer guild discounts on custom orders, but most will still buy full price off my vendors ![]()
Thats it, my 2 cents... i really had to comment on the schematic issue... i was a little surprised to see such an enormous pricetag on something that costs zero to make *shakes head*. Guess i just dont understand this one.

Starting from launch I had very bad experiences with higher level tailors. I found rude people, unwilling to help. The "competition" issue was clearly on thier minds. I never ground tailor at all, I started selling everything I made on a vendor so it took me a few months to hit master.
Now, I'm probably the oldest master tailor on Chilastra and many friends have become tailors over the past few months and we get along fine. I've never felt threatened by another tailor, esp considering there are only maybe 3-4 others on the server that do anywhere near the volume of sales that I do.
