If you ever went to the squill cave you would realize that a squillion is a baby squill. ![]()

LOL -- I am a tailor, what am I going to do to protect myself, stick a sewing needle in their eye?

Apologises for digging up an old thread, better than starting a new one
My alt is currently x444 Tailor and has good source for BE tissues. The BE shirts I make (+17 Warcry/Intim etc) are priced at 20k each. Is this too steep, just right or even way to low? I have seem BE clothing on Farstar selling at 60k+!
I tend to price quite low on standard clothing, roughly between 500c and 2k per item. Again is this too cheap, pricey or just right?
Cheers

It sounds like your pricing and mine are nearly identical - and I am on Radiant server.
As to the BE vs. regular clothing, I make both - whatever my customers ask for - the sockets are what make me crazy! Fastest way for me to lose interest in a customer if for them to demand 4 socket items - I rarely even look at my clothing to see how many sockets are there.

I hate making BE stuff and I refuse to do it. There are plenty of tailors around to do it so I don't feel bad for telling people "sorry, I don't do that."

I don't have a BE supplier, so that makes it difficult to keep them in stock. To me they're like sockets: I'm not going to spend extra time getting them unless I have a big reason to do so. They do sell well when I put some up!
I price them at 1K per bonus point per tissue, plus the normal price of the item.

I make BE clothing, if i can find the tissue. And right now i have loads of tissue. Everything except Intimidate/Warcry tissue.
As far as 4 sockets goes..one day i had a customer ask for a 4 socket piece of clothing..I tried and tried and finally gave up. The money was not worth the time.
Anyhow, later that day I was hunting (with my limited combat skills) and had to wait for my friend to take a phone call, so i whipped out my handy dandy R2 droid "Sewing Machine" and made something real quick..and guess what 4 sockets!! The next thing i made, 4 sockets..over and over over..everything had 4 sockets. I tried it again later that day, same results.
Iwas not by any other crafting station and I was not wearing any enhanced clothing either(my apron).
Anybody else run into this situation?

Hmm. I have my sewing machine droid out EVERY time I make clothes -- for moral support, I guess, or maybe just force of habit. I don't wear an apron because they are ugly and an ugly tailor does not inspire confidence in customers. Anyway, I don't always get 4 sockets, so it could just have been a really lucky day for you.

I like to make some of the BE stuff. As much as I love the calculations and stuff in the crafting professions, tissue-making was not one of them. IMO, BE's pet-crafting is the most fun and interesting to "play with". I have been a BE before, and my only interest in it was the DNA-sampling and making all those challenging pets. I know Momoko's very into making tissues
What I find sucking about clothes and the BE tissues is, like you said, howso manypeople don't care about the color or style of the clothing as long as they have the certain bonus (or as long as they are wearable with armor). I wouldn't say I have a business with a BE, but I am a repeating and frequent shopperto a certain BE.
I thought the same thing you did, how being a tailor/BE would be so convenient and stuff. Well, I did grind my way to MBE, and it was then that I found out tissue-making was not for me. I too found it very boring. I think you'd still get customers buying BE clothes from you (with them providing the tissues themselves) because I've had people ask me that before. I thinkyour customers who love youwill still come to youeven if they havetoprovide you the tissues because they love you
.
I loving being a tailorfor those customers. They would rather wait and/or pay more for youthan to go to another tailor, whom could make faster and/or cheaper.
Do what you love. Don't let anyone stop you from doing it. If theyhave a problem with it, they can go to another person. Have fun, and keepTailor fun for you... and do whatever you must do to keep it that way. I'm with you
Oh - one more thing. One thing I refuse a customer is when they ask me fora so-and-sowith 4 sockets. Say they asked me to make a sunguard with 4 sockets. I would only accept that order if they agreed to pay me for every prior sunguard Imake until I get that 4-socket one. It's something I can't control, and I refuse to waste my time/resources just for that 5000 credits.

Those obscure gemstones remind me of my master weaponsmith days!!! (and kind of my days on Endor/Dath to try to get certain creatures' DNA to make my pretty pets, lol).

Its complicated enough to be challenging, but not so complicated that you have to worry about whether some obscure gemstone has spawned on some planet where I know I will die if I set foot there.
I think your interest in tissue-making is what my interest is in pet-making.

OMGoodness, It's odd to see how so many of you actually have issues with (not issues in a bad way really) people wanting BE clothing.
I've had several ... and I mean many several...clients come to me and say, "Y'a, can I get a blah blah BE shirt? Sockets don't matter." or "Heya, Y'a, Can I get a BE whatever? I need 4 sockets but if you don't get it in the 1st or 2nd shot I'll take what you have in the highest." (usually 2-3)
I guess I'm just lucky that way. Or loved hehe *hiccup**blarg* Sheesh I need to lay off the Hollyday Nog :/
