Yeah clothes give modifiers, but there seems to be a problem. I can put the biological components in Reinforced fiber panels, but not the Synthetic cloth. Its kind of odd. Anyways, you can put in the bio-engineer stat modifiers through the cloth then you can use the modifying tapes you can loot on clothes with sockets, so in effect you can make some nice bonuses on the clothes.

You need a different biological component in the synthetic cloth than in the reinforced fiber panel. Forget which works.

I think the loss of colors was simply an oversight that has not been corrected yet. I hope it will be...

Previously, there were 2 color palettes, one for Artisan items and one for Tailor items. At Master Artisan you had 255 colors and could make very colorful items from the Artisan line. When you moved to Novice Tailor, you started over on colors for the Tailor items with a very drab palette. Tailors complained that they should not be making items in -worse- colors than they had at Artisan.. that they should not lose colors they had had at Artisan.

The developers decided to re-organize the way colors are acquired, spreading them out from Novice Artisan to Master Tailor, in one customization line instead of two. Now as you acquire colors you keep them, getting more advanced colors as you advance in the Tailoring line of Tailor. At Tailoring IV you have +200 to Clothing Customization, and you do not get any skill mod in this line at Master Tailor. Somewhere along the line during the revamp of colors, the last +55 mod to Customization disappeared. I hope it comes back.

As it stands now (ok, as it stood at end of beta, I have not trained any Tailoring line yet), we get a very nice reddish (tends to magenta side) and blue at Tailoring III. Not much new at Tailoring IV, and nothing new at Master Tailor. Never a crimson, a grass green, a bright yellow or orange, hot pink, or bright or deep purple. Plenty of gray.

Side note: In beta I filled one wall of my house with cloaks, one of each color. Did this at Tailoring III and had 48 cloaks all lined up. Looked cool, people who came in my house were amazed. Anyway, I was expecting to add more cloaks when I got Tailoring IV .. but there were no new cloak colors. Last night I got to Casual Wear III and could make cloaks, so I was curious to see how many colors I would get with no Tailoring trained.... Same 48 colors. So there are some items, at least, that never get an expanded palette, even when you train the customization line.

"Never a crimson, a grass green, a bright yellow or orange, hot pink, or bright or deep purple. Plenty of gray."

The thing that annoys me more than anything is that apparently the tailors employed by swoop gangs, thugs, and friggin' Tusken Raiders have absolutely no problem whatsoever coming up with those colors! If they all stopped fighting PCs and just put their wares on sale on the open market, they'd put every PC tailor out of business....

a good thread. i agreed with most if not all the issues posted especially the 'tailoring loot drops' the 'lack of colours' and 'the lack of item degradation' sadly the tailoring proffesion got missed when the crafted items vs loot drops were considered. i hope these issues will be resolved quickly. although i havent much to add i wanted to add my voice to the tailoring issues.

On a humorous note...I've discovered that for colors really all we need is black, becaue 99% of my sales are black

What color cloak?: Black

Those boot can be two toned: Can they both be black?

I can sell you some nice striped pants: Can the stripe be black? The same black as the pants?

Everyone loves black!

Hee! That's pretty much true, isn't it? I keep trying to push other color combos (especially things in a Rugged Jacket/Ribbed Pants combo, which seem to go well together), but it all usually comes back to basic black. Some people get daring by adding stripes....

One problem I do not see mentioned in this issued thread is with regard to factories. Currently, at least for me, I cannot put a factory crate in the ingredients hopper and let the factory pull from that crate to build items. I have to pull each item out and add it by hand to the hopper (like synth and reinforced panels or metal fasteners).

The ingredients hopper was reduced in size to a 100 item limit, which meansfrequent trips to hand in things that should just be taken from the crates by the factory. I can do this but it is a real pain. And I feel REALLY sorry for any droid engineer or architect using a factory to build items when their things take huge numbers of components. A limit in hopper size of 100 is nuts if this is working as intended.

Is it just me or does everyone have this problem?

NEW BUG? anyone got the thing where when you make and item, and you are on the color select window, the graphic that rotates showing you what the item looks like is totally screwed up? That sounds vague lol...but I can't tell what I'm making half the time as the picture looks so bad.

I should take a screenshot and send it I suppose..started doing this Monday I think.

Just one more to chime in on the party line. I also get the same problems with wookiee colors (and reported it), players wanting cooler colors and the cloak/duster madness. I'm really annoyed that mobs drop better colored stuff and more complex stuff than I can make so far. And I'm utterly disappointed with the clothing market on Talus/Gorath. I can't seem to sell anything that I post for more than 100 credits. My best customers have been entertainers who want specific outfits/colors (at least from what I can make) and they tip me. I have one friend who ended up with looted bright orange pants, and he is actually well known for them as he is one of the highest level medics on Talus/Gorath, but I still can't come close to making him a shirt to match. I'm honestly considering advancing in Experimentation first just to get more colors (and let the other tailors grind to duster ability).

On the color subject, I was initially following the allakhazam profession info, so I pushed to Master Artisan before going Novice Tailor , thinking that I would get +55 to Clothing Customization. Nope. That was apparently beta info, and it has now taught me the value of only trusting my in-game skill/profession list. So now I'm sitting at novice Tailor with maybe 7k of Tailoring XP because I ran out of resources getting there and now can't sample as efficiently (note: I'm not in a PA so I only have a very minor network of helpers getting me resources, and most of that is from Scouts who don't need the hides). I've started grinding Dress Shirts because they don't require scrolling in the tool and don't need much for resources. I'm also discouraged at the moment, as I am probably the 3rd or 4th best Tailor on Talus and can't sell much. I've been working more on getting to Smuggler now (my other chosen profession) since, with a few minor exceptions, Tailoring has ended up so disappointing so far. I am getting some name recognition now, but it mostly tends to get me even more "can you make me a duster?" traffic. But I'm still slowly fighting the good fight.

they need to add in some higher level colors at master and tailor IV. i mean, you've grinded out god knows how many pieces to get there.. you should get something.

if we cant make these bright purple/yellow/red/whatever colors at all.. then why should they been seen so comonly as i walk the streets of tatooine.

i doubt that half of our concerns are on any list of priorities. tailors probably affect the game the least, out of any profession. sad but true.

Yep, I know what you are talking about. Don't think it is just for tailors. Some of the graphic rendering optimization code the DEVS put in is doing it. Some people report if you close all other windows (including inventory window) and move your screen to have very few items showing that the detail level will increase to normal. Have not had a chance to try it yet though...

My wife plays a tailor and everyone that comes in our store wants black black black and dusters.... so true.

Well, I called her on the phone and had her try it. And yes it does work... just put the crafting station on your quick launch bar so that you dont have to open the inventory window to start it, and walk up to a wall so no other objects are on the screen and BAM... high res crafting once again.
