Thread: How many tailors have conversaitons like this?
Am I rare? Well considering I'm not an entertainer, and I'm male, I'd guess so. But entertainers and those not male tend to want to buy clothes
Don't let the bad ones spoil it too much for you. If I have to pay all of you tailors extra to make out for the cheapskates, so be it. Let the cheapskates have their rags. The clothes make man they say.
You're not that rare. We love most of our customers. Many of them are nice, appreciative, friendly. The mean customers are usually rare enough that they stand out, and we have to come vent here about them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets threatened and challenged to duels. I had this gem of customer a few days ago while I was restocking my vendor for the day. Names have been changed to protect the innocent, stupid, and a really mean wookiee commando whose bad side I'd rather stay off of.
Customer: Ebon! Make me a specops duster.
Me: I'm sorry, if there aren't any on my vendor then you'll have to wait a few hours.
Customer: Why?
Me: Because I have other customers who e-mailed orders ahead of you, and besides that I'm out of Reinforced Fiber Panels until my factory finishes its production run.
Customer: It's because I'm an Imp isn't it?
Customer: **censored** rebs.
I don't have anything against Imperials, but I am in the middle of Moenia's business strip (right next to the Stormtrooper/Gungan warzone), so it's not like I see them very often outside of business trips...
Me: I told you, I don't have the necessary component. I can't just make it, it has to be factory-made, and my factory won't finish making them for several hours.
Customer: Fine, I'll just follow you around until you get a TEF and punk you, covert **censored**.
Me: I'm not a Rebel. I'm neutral.
Customer: Then why don't you duel me? Are you a **censored**?
Me: I've dropped all my combat skills down to Novice Carbineer. I sincerely hope you'd be able to beat a Tailor/Merchant in a duel, unless you're really, really bad at your job...
Customer: Oh, that's it. You calling me out? Come on Rebel **censored yet again!* let's do it.
At this point I remember a couple of overt Rebel Commandos I had in the shop a few minutes earlier, a big wookiee (are there any other kind?) and a zabrak girl with a gun bigger than my tiny Bothan avatar. I scroll up my chat window some to get the wookiee's name, and drop him a quick tell...
Me: Hey, are you two still in the neighborhood?
Wookiee: Yeah, but we're doing Reb Missions with a couple of friends. No time to talk.
Me: Just stop by my shop for a second, okay? Bring your friends, too, it'll be worth it.
Wookiee: OMW.
As you can imagine, Mr. Imperial has gotten quite livid while I've been sending these tells, thinking I'm ignoring him. He's running around in circles in my showroom, probably trying to think of any way he could possibly bother me when he can't really do anything. I stay silent for a while and let him stew until I see blue dots massing on my radar.
Customer: **censored** **censored** too scared to fight me? **censored**! **censored**!
Me: Alright, I'll fight you. Go ahead and get out your pets.
Customer: **censored** yeah!
To my surprise, Mr. Overt Imp proceeds to pop an AT-ST out of his datapad. I can't help but smile a little before I say:
Me: /shoutHEY EVERYBODY, THERE'S AN IMP IN MOENIA!
Me: /eject Customer
Any combative sorts in the crowd can probably fill in the rest of the blanks...
Can I just inject a recent observation here? Tailors are not the richest characters in this game!!!
I will freely confess that about 2 weeks after I hit Master, I hit the million credit mark---I thought I rocked!! Woo! I slid half of it over to my guild and kept the rest. I have since then hovered around 700k.
I still make deals, give freebies away to friends, etc. I have enough money to keep my harvesters humming and be prepared for emergency (like when, say, your entire freaking store and all its contents poof due to a bug and the CSRs tell you tough luck....*grumble*) Was chatting with a merchant friend of mine and we were discussing money. He asked me out of curiosity how many million I had..I told him I was well under a million, but I hit it once.
He told me he was at 5 million, and his armorcrafter friends were around 20 million.....
Not that I mind---I don't! Armor crafting is a buis just like tailoring. But why people don't complain about a 40k outfit of armor, but whine about a 600 credit jacket is beyond me. They need to do the math...with stores, harvesters, and inventory, Tailors are far from the most wealthy crafting professions. Especially since there are so many of us and the mad Fleshwrap rush has passed. ![]()

Is it too much to ask that people use full words, not numbers and letters?

apparently it is. This is especially annoying to me. I RP, sorry for those who don't want RP in the RPg but thems the breaks. I compose interesting dialogue, I emote, I bow, I scrape, I say things like
me: (dignified) Ah excellent, madam, a perfect choice. that gown suits you marvelously. And my thanks for the kind tip, it is greatly appreciated.
and what do I get back from some players?
them: K, thx.
At that moment Ive the urge to rip the gown out of her hands and storm away with a little cartoon black cloud swirling over my head. Don't RP, don't emote, don't bow, don't scrape. But if anyone takes the time to actually converse with you in complete sentences, the very least you could do is spell ''thank you'' in all its glory. It's 8 letter, you will not lose a finger.
*ahem*
ok, ok im composed now, sorry for that outburst. To add to this growing list, as a tailor I get alot of odd conversations, makes me wish I kept a chat log. I did have an infuriating one recently wherein someojne asked for a robe of honour. Then proceeded to ask for it for 400 credits. I told them, of course, that i charge quite a bit more for that master tailor item. i was told that there was one on the bazaar for 500. several, in fact. Annoyed, i checked to see what tailor would do suich a thing and alas it wasnt player-made... it was a loot drop. He asked me for the major differences. I told him a) loot it and whatever colour it is is whatever colour it is, you get no choice. b) no sockets. c) the decay is 100/100 and not 1000/1000. he laughed poitning out a) he didnt care what colour, b) he never gets any enhancers as loot anymore, neither do many people, and c) clothing has no decay. Sadly, he was right so i told him to go buy the one on the bazaar. LOL he wasn't pleased by that, which i found funny since the one on the bazaar met all of his critera lol. But truly, he was right. Master tailor items dropping from mobs. grand....hope I loot a PA hall someday

I'm not a tailor, just a customer. I'm one of those that help make up for all of the cheap bastards out there. I know what I want, I'm polite and I'll throw money into clothes just to try out something new and I tend to tip as if I was in a restaurant. 5k for everything? Alright, here's 3k cause you're nice.

no, pardon my rant earlier, the bad ones get the write ups and too often I dont mention all the good ones. The number of GREAT customers far outweighs the bad. The bad don't spoil it as I tailor because I love to (lord knows its not making me a bazillionaire). We LOVE customers like you...and appreciate them immensely.
I had a funny customer one time. My shop is located about 2km south of Mos Espa, but for some reason when people do a /who there we get people in Mos Eisley, and they get us. So when I have my Master Tailor title, I get tells from people in Mos Eisley.
The first night I hit mastergot a tell from a guy who wanted a fightsuit. I'm in tells with my RL boyfriend who plays with me, plus talking with my guild about their excitement with me hitting master, so I take awhile to respond. While I'm typing up my response, he goes, "well, can u? hello??"
A little annoyed already, Itell him I'll be in my shop so if he comes I'll make him one, and I quote him my price (which was actually extremely underpriced, I hadn't had time to think of prices for my master level items yet). I give him the coordinates.
He doesn't like my location. It's too far. He wants to take the shuttle ticket price from Eisley to Espa out of the amount he gives me. I tell him no way. So he asks if he can pay me partially in hides. Okay, fine, I told him I'd take 1/1 credits/hides. Even though I'm rather annoyed with the guy by this point, since I'm excited about making Master, I feel like hooking him up.
Finally he tells me he's in Mos Espa. Moments later, he says he has to go andeat supper. "hold my flightsuit for me ok??? ill be back later maybe"
I hadn't made the flightsuit yet, so I just thought, whatever.
An hour later he sends me another tell. "hello? u still have my flightsuit?" I tell him I'm still in my shop and he can still come and get it.
Then, and this was the part that cracked me up, he startedgrilling me about whetherI was a rebel or from a rebel PA. Like I was luring him there to kill him or something! Buddy, you sent me the tell first! I told him, truthfully, that my PA is a neutral merchant-based PA.
Of course when he finally got to my shop, he started trying to haggle again, wanting free boots with the flightsuit. Finally we made the trade, him giving me 3000 credits and 500 worth of hides (mostly in quantities really smaller than I could use, but I just wanted him to get out of there).
But of course he loiters around, going to a PA member of mine sitting on one of the couches in the back room, who had the title "Surveyor" over her head, and asking her to duel.
So I told him not to harass my customers or I'd have to ask him to leave. Which, surprisingly, he did.
After he left he continued sending me tells, asking if my PA had a master armorsmith because he was looking for composite armor (Me: "You do know that composite armor often costs like 40k per piece, right?" Jeez, he'd been haggling over my flightsuit), and he also asked if we had a master weaponsmith. Despite the fact that we do, I didn't pass their names over to him, because I didn't want them to have to deal with him. Instead I just told him I'd tell them about him, and shortly thereafter, put him on ignore so he wouldn't bug me again.
A day later I went anonymous so that I'd stop getting tells from people in Mos Eisley, because they invariably wanted me to travel to them. Sorry, no.
Great stories!
I've been a Master Tailor for about a month and had my first dissatisfied customer today. A guy came into my shop while I was helping two other customers. We chitchatted and he was very pleasant. In tells, he said he wanted the Robe of Honor, but he only had 1k of spending money. I told him I'd cut him a deal on a smock (to sell it much cheaper than usualso hewouldn't have to spend all his creds) but I couldn't sell the Robe of Honor that cheaply.
He then complained about being broke. I mentioned all the different ways I earned money when I was broke. Heseemed sort ofcontent with my answers. However, he ran out of the store suddenly and sent a /tell to the customers in my shop that I was mean.
*shrug* Whatcha gonna do? ![]()
I had my first encounter today by I think was a noob ora very young noob
A wookie - yelling - can someone make him wookie clothes - oh woe is me - I tell him and say what would u like? After that was decided we went onto to colors - ok -
Now of course he took all the wookie clothes that needed synthetic cloth & metal fastners - he asks how long - 10 min I tell him -
WHAT!!!!!!!!! How come......
So I politely try to explain the 30 -45 second wait for the crafting unit to perform the deed, the various components that needed to be blended etc,,,,,
The next 5 tells - each 30 seconds apart - are you done yet, Hurry!!!!! Hurry!!!!! again and agian
Finally I tell him one more and I am gone Then to top this off, after I finish, I quote the price and trade - he says he needs to tip me - I tell him how to do that and after about a minute of waiting - he starts yelling why I do not finish the trade - I ask him for the $ and he says he's broke he will have to pay later. He had no idea I was cutting him a deal.
I tell him it'll be on my vendor here's the waypoint and a CYA, I then geta barage of language that would make a truckdriver blush.
Ahhhhh the customer service profession
The comforting thing is that people like this are the minority.
I've only had one customer like these in the entire time I've been playing. He was quickly /ignored and luckily there hasn't been another... I like to think he told every jerk on the server not to buy from me, leaving me with only the nice customers I currently have.
He said he didn't have much in the way of creds but had 67 leather hides if I wanted those. Well, I felt bad for the guy, so I made the deal. Not a great story, but I felt good doing this for him
Two days ago, I walked into my shop and there were a good number of customers hovering around my vendor - I would say 4. One of them starts saying "i need 1k". I figure she's asking her friends. But I guess they didn't deliver, becuase she says my name and then says "can u give me 1k, you'll get it back". *boggle*. I said "are you seriously asking me for 1k so you can buy something off MY OWN vendor?" Apparently she did not get why this was a problem.
I ran next door to my fiance's private workshop and hid.
