What I don't understand is why there would be any outrage at all At the worst (or at least most disappointing, and most likely), it is an NPC wearing a hooded cloak, which we've all seen screenies of before. At the best, they are working on getting the cloaks onto players and the screenshot is one taken onan internal dev server. NPC clothes are not a simple matter of slapping them onto a schematic. As Van said they must be made wearable by each species and gender which is very time consuming. Same reason the art team isn't whipping out new hairstyles. That said, hopefully we will get new schematics in the not too far distant future, I want that as much as any other Tailor.

PS. Are these the ones that were tried out on players in beta but looked stiff and awful when players moved aboutand were pulled?

The outrage would be if these are wearable, but non-craftable. Which is why I'm holding off 'till I know more. If they're NPC-wear, no biggy—we've seen that before. If they're PC wear and not tailor-craftable, well, that's a whole 'nother story.

Yes, it's a person wearing those robes. They were demonstrating some of the new effects when using force powers for the jedi revamp.

As discussed, devs and QA can do funky things—we know they're official, but we don't know whether they're of PCs or NPCs. 'Till we do, no point flying off the handle.

Well I can only speak for the dark side of the force, but I've seen and worn all the Dark Jedi robes from Padawan to Dark Jedi counsel. None of them have hoods that go up over your head. The Dark Jedi overlord does not at this point get any special robes. As for the light jedi, all their stuff has been cream colored from what I have seen. The only hooded cloaks I have seen have been onrandom Sentinel npc's that guard the enclaves.

TH (sort of) addressed the hooded cloaks in the Jedi Punchlist Feedback thread (see question #26). None of the Jedi robes currently have hoods, but hooded versions of them are planned in the future. He didn't mention anything about a hooded version of the current "Cloak," nor did he mention wanting to include tailors. Ah well.

I'm still harassing about that - it's just that the 19 questions I don't think are even coming out this week, so I think they're kinda busy atm. I don't think the cloak is a jedi robe per se, but I'm still poking around as to what the heck it IS.

The only races I haven't seen wearing a hooded cloak are Wookies, Mon Calamarian, and Rodian. All others I have seen with a hooded cloak ingame or in a screenshot. Their shouldn't be much work into implementing this at all...

i have an answer! WOO HOO!!!! seems its alot more work than most think after all (much as kathryn pointed out)

26. Hooded Cloaks. Yes its not going to kill anyone if we can't have a hooded cloak, but they are intrinsic to the look and feel of Jedi, and we've been teased with pictures of Jedi in them since pre-release. Can you just give tailors the ability to craft these darn things? 1 per species model if needed... There's no reason only a Jedi should be able to wear a simple cloak with a hood, and more people running around in them will help us hide ourselves.

The desire for hooded cloaks will never go away.

Hooded cloaks (as with all wearables in the game) are far more work intensive and very time consuming to produce than they appear to be. Huge actually. It’s not 1 cloak or 2 cloaks, but somewhere around 120 cloaks would have to be produced internally for all Jedi robes to have hoods in the game. Here’s how it breaks down: There are currently 31 unique Jedi Robe Models. For each of those to be hooded, there needs to be a special version for Wookiees, Twilek and Mon Cal’s because of their heads and a version for the rest of the species, except for Trandos which get a special version because of their feet. The time and manpower to create 120 cloaks isn't available at this time. We want and will do this in the future, but it is just not possible right now.

From TH's answer, there are 31 uniqueJedi robes right now. Since the cloaks can't be worn over the existing robes, they'd need to do four additional versions of each one with the cloak fitting over it. That really is a lot of work.

Tailors, on the other hand, are only asking for the hooded cloak itself. Since they'll only need to do four versions (and from looking at the screenshots it looks like some of them are already done), it's comparatively very little work.

They've been able to do 31 pieces of clothing art for Jedi between publish 8 and now, so it would be a nice gesture to give tailors a comparativelysmall scrap of art. Tailors have been around since launch and (I hope) we number more than Jedi as far as population goes. And to top it all off, everyone who wears clothes can benefit from added tailoring schematics.

JustG also said that there will be no hooded cloaks for jedi for awhile because the art isn't available. That is a pretty direct answer.

I would love to see a hooded option added to non jedi robes, but I don't think we will see it in our lifetimes....
