Solution: sell 'em a schematic so they can go crank out their own for 10-25k.

I'm just 0100 tailor, not much time to grind lately, and I get tells from people nonstop asking for synthetic cloth and fiberplast.

I don't mind selling it, anything to make some money, but to hand craft them is a real pain! And I'm too stingy with my resources to throw them into a factory to mass produce.

Selling schematics doesn't work very well in my experience either. As an example, two nights ago i'm in my shop helping what seemed to be a non-stop stream of customers and generally having a nice time meeting people when i get a /tell from and armorsmith saying, "i need synth. how much u got?". I'm in a good mood and feelings christmasy so I go against my personal rule to never sell crates or schematics becuase it ALWAYS burns me in the end. I reply with, "I have four crates I can spare for you or I can make you a schematic". Ten minutes later I receive a /tell, "where are u? i'm waiting for my synth". So I scroll back through tells to see if i missedsomething, and multitask making things for the very gracious customers in my shop. I found no lost tell so i decided i'd better clear this up quickly before it ruins my night. I email the smith my shop wp and he /tells me, "I have to come get it?!? how much u charge?!". So, I hold my breath and try to sound as non defensive as possible and say "i charge 3k a crate, and yes, you'll have to come pick it up. I have a shop full of customers". The whole time i'm thinking of how many grateful people i could be making clothing for with that synth, but i'd already agreed to sell it. Ten minutes later i get a tell saying, "nvm, i can get it for 2k a crate and she brings it to me. u need to learn service".

I then decide to ignore this bad experience and go about making things for my customers. Then 20 minutes later i get another tell, "make me a schematic for synth" from the same smith. I'm awestruck by the complete lack of please and thank you from armorsmiths that i've delt with. I reply with, "if you'd like a schematic, you'll need to bring me the resources you want to use in your factory to make the synth". I get a tell five minutes later, "i'll just use your factory. unless ur gonna be rude to me again".

WHAT?!?!

Yea, I've never actually been able to sell a schematic myself. Those that have requested them have demanded free ones and would not pay a cent for them (so they don't get the schematic from me).

I put a few crates out a week and if anyone wants any I tell them that if its not on the vendor then there isn't any available at this time.

Saves me a lot of headache. Its not like they are my cash crop. I make far more by just focusing on clothes and BE enhanced garments.

Next time, just make the schematic using your resources (that spawned 3 cycles ago).
Sell it to him.
See how long it takes him to figure out he needs the same resources.

Yep, I've never had anyone offer to pay me decently for a schematic. They always expected either a free one, one for a tiny tiny cost (since they say it only takes me a small amount of resources to make one), or if they were willing to pay, they wanted me to give them the resources to run it all as well!

Reading all your different storys about armorsmiths and the like is really enjoying! Especially how you all can relate. I can't wait 'til I get some storys to share with everyone.

I really like the customer that demands a schematic, as though it is their right to have it. They want to allow me the pleasure of making them a schematic, they will provide the material, I just craft it for 10 seconds, and no big deal. But the big deal is... if they want the schematic, they should have taken Novice Tailor, and gotten the schematic for themselves. If they want it from me, it's going to be worth my time, and it will be exceptionally expensive... I will charge the profit on the cloth I am not selling him, but he is making, less an amount for factory, etc... But they better expect me to be charging at least 20k for one. That's a mere 1cpu for the schematic if he makes 1000 units. He'll sell it for 10cpu in the final product, and probably increase the price by whatever I charge him anyway.

If I hire out a rangeer to track for me (and help find the Altruism badge, or whatever) I expect him to charge me an arm and a leg for it. He's helping me get a badge, spending alot of time and energy, and it's a skill that I will NEVER be able to have. Dependancies on other classes has to be valued and respected.
