Because fashion is everything! I like to look good, and have lots of outfits to change into. I also love making things for other people, especially spending time with them to get things "just right" and create a unique look.

I knew when i bought the game that i wanted to run a shop, and then once i started seeing Tailor Shops popping up around town, i decided that it was how i wanted to make it there. Oh, and i see droids too, hehe.

I like the custom fitting myself. I had someone ask me -- how can you not have anything on your vendor? Told them I just do custom orders for the most part (and I did one for them). I use my vendor (1) to put things in the stockroom and (2) to hold a custom order for someone when we can't meet in person.

I became a tailor because I love to grind. I have a subtle joint disability in my right index finger, so to keep it exercised, I decided to make nothing but ribbed shirts all day long. Now my finger is fit and trim and I can point without serious pain! Thanks, SWG!

Seriously, tailoring is fun. I almost never practice just because I enjoy dressing people and making sales. That's, I believe, what the profession is about. Like entertaining, and more than any other crafting profession,tailoringis about interacting with people. The first thing I ask a prospective client is "what did you have in mind? Is there a certain look you're going for?"

Everyone wants to "look good", but people's opinions on what looks good vary greatly. That's what I like best. I do very little vendor business from my home simply because I prefer to make items specifically for the person. And word is getting out. I often get people coming to me and giving me a colour scheme, a vague idea ("Something outdoorsy in browns and greens" or "Something mystical, with reds"), and leave me to put something together. I've even had someone give me 2k for a commission, with 2k on completion. Sometimes I get more in "tips" than I do on the base cost of what I'm selling.

So, what started as desire make some clothes and to not be another combat type, has turned into a full-fledged profession. I've got lots of satisfied and loyal customers, and the satisfaction of a job well done. My bank balance is going up, too!

I am just starting on novice taylor, and the reasons for me are...

1. I spend way too much money on clothes and figured I might as well make them myself.

2. Supply and demand. The master tailors in my area are never on and their vendors are never filled.

3. My IRL BF spent all of last week going to every master tailor that he could find on the server, and barely had anything to show for it. One of which when sent a tell asking if he had a particular item in stock, told him to come over and the cords. After spending the time and several thousand credits to get there, the item was not in stock and when asked, never responded as to why he had him come over there if the item wasn't there. Another told him that the 40k of items that he was looking for would be ready in 2-3 days. That was 2 weeks ago. He's never seen those items, andthat tailor isnever on anymore.

So, I am hoping to supply our guild with a much needed tailor. Besides, I am a people person. Customer service is #1. And have fun while you are doing it.

I decided I needed a second source of income for my gunfighter character. I chose tailor. Little did I know that my new source of income would become (1) addictive as crack, and (2) at first a large sink for income made as gunfighter.

Mostly for the same reason that I'm also becoming a Musician: because I like dancers.

I'm primarily a social player. No day that I fire a weapon in an MMPORG is a perfect day. Shooting other people has no appeal at all to me. Shooting NPCs and animals also gets old very quickly. But meeting people, hanging out with them, laughing with them, doing silly stuff together? That never gets old.

So I basically set out to become the perfect barfly: tailor, bartender, musician. I gave up on the bartending thing (for now) because it's totally borked, and instead I'm doing the merchant thing. Which, as fun as it is, involves way too little time hanging out in bars.

Anybody here previously play in Anarchy Online? In AO, clothing was the money sink. So many people were running missions just to raise the cash to buy yet more outfits, for hanging out at Reet's Retreat or Baboon's, that somebody called AO "Kill to Dress the Barbie Doll." I laugheduntil my sides hurt- but that's MMPORGs for you.

I originally started on the path to become a tailor, just so I could outfit myself, since I was a Dancer, but then I reallly got caught up in making clothes, and realized all the extra stuff you had to kind of do to be fairly efficient and keep things under your control.

So I had to start surrendering some of my dancing skills to survey, merchant, scouting, and a bit of pistol mastery.

Yes I did play AO!!! I was on RK1, and bought every single piece of social clothing out there. And even the formerly elusive white, with grey Clan logo shirt, it was elusive for me, because I was an Omni.
