Tailor Archive
Thread: Spec Ops Backpacks
As I previously stated, I am a casual player, I never have and never will expect to buy an X-Wing or even a landspeeder. I only play a few hours every day and I take several days off during the week. There is nothing wrong with the prices I am selling my stuff at. I price at 3cr per resource, plus I multiply that by how difficult the item is, and a couple other add ins. In fact, the prices I got come from one of the pricing guide calculators posted here. Just to give you a hint, my Master items will range anywhere from 3500 to 13000 depending upon item.I am certainly not Wal-Mart, my shop is in Lake Retreat, which has got to be one of the most out of the way locations in the game and still be next to a shuttle port. I like it that way. I choose tailor because I've played one in every MMORPG I've played. Which is wierd because I can't sew to save my life in the real world. As for hurting the other tailors business, I think not, I don't do enough business to even make it noticeable to them. My daily income is probably 3k at the most. I do it because I like to, not to make money so I can buy a stupid speeder. And my wife enjoys the outfits I make her. So please take your elitist, got to have the best, powergaming opinions elsewhere.
There is a reason that you are getting a lot of angry responses here Ihop. Its nothing personal, but many of the tailors here have had problems with "casual" tailors undercutting them. You yourself may not do enough business to hurt us, but there are some Master tailors out there selling in large quantity at 3cr/resource prices.
The problem with this is that it skews the entire market. How are we supposed to react when we have customers coming up to us and saying "Why should I pay 10k for that Fleshwrap? Joe tailor is selling them for 1500."
Do we charge a hefty markup? Yes we do. Why? Well, personally after spending the resources to grind 6000 ribbed shirts, I feel its my right to make up some of my investment. When someone "who doesnt need money" starts selling stuff at 1/5th price, it hurts everyone else.
You know what the average per credit price on a decent rifle is in game? In the ballpark of 100 cr/res. I dont feel bad about charging 20+ per resourcefor factory comp required items.
If you want to sell to friends and guildmates for what it cost you to make the item, fine - no one will care. Hell, I give most items to my guildmates for free. But if you start selling on the bazaar or actively advertising at those prices - your going to piss other tailors off. Thats just how it is.
