Thread: No hope for decay

Okay just posed the same question elsewhere but thought I'd give it a try here as well... if there's no experimentation how do we socket clothing? I was umder the impression you had to experiment to get sockets.
Sockets relate directly to your tailoring skill - as you go up the 4th tree you get more sockets more consistently, and experiment doesn't change it. At novice and Tailoring I you'll see none and by Tailoring IV you'll get them to 4 on the majority of the items you make, even if you're sitting on top of a mountain 1km away from a crafting station or droid.
I agree, this is completely ridiculous...indestructible clothing...
If you fight when you are not wearing armor...your clothes SHOULD get damaged quicker, even running around in RL can damage clothing...
I vote we should be able to release swarms of Moths from Creature Habitats and set them on other players clothing...THAT would cause decay...*evil grin*
I'm at a loss of what to say! ![]()
This goes counter to everything said by the Devs to date and any semblance of sanity on what it takes to keep the Tailoring profession viable.
I'd love to hear the rational behind this but getting a Dev to explain anything is a waste of effort.
*sigh*
Overwhelming feedback?
Well here is our overwhelming feedback. What a bonehead move. The extra colors will help biz for now but the profession is in peril. I'd love to be a non-tailor and buy something knowing i'll never have to purchase it again unless I want something different.
Can a dev address this with more of an explanation?
What annoys me more than anything is that the devs specifically said that the lack of decay to clothing was a bug which was being fixed. They came here and posted that.
We have had no warning on this sudden change of plan. Apparently *something* about it was posted elsewhere. Why could they not come here and discuss it with us? Surely we have more insight into how we believe this profession is working out that anyone else?
This comes across as being downright rude. Is there anychance our correspondent can get some kind of update on this? (BTW has anyone heard from Alichai for a while?)

On the other hand, this is the one change so far that flies in the face of my partner's theory that every change is geared toward reducing the database and increasing money sinks.
Guess I should stop collecting that mediocre OQ, but incredible decay resist polymer. Guess I should stop caring about resource quality at all. Am I a crafter or a button clicker with perhaps mildy capable fashion sense?
My husband just sent me to this link, and the post by Holocron from yesterday:
We're currently kicking around a system that works this way:
- When you get incapped, everything you have in inventory or equipped takes a bit of damage (yes, everything--even stuff that currently does not suffer damage or decay).
- You can insure stuff so that it does not take any damage on incap. This cost is much cheaper than current insurance.
This would give more item turnover to professions that need it, like tailors; would have a cheaper drain in place; and would make it so that corpse runs are obsolete.

Them kicking around these ideas doesn't change the fact that we're totally nerfed! Also, entertainers who never leave the cantina would never be incapped, and never need to replace their clothing, and they're our biggest customers! The devs need to come up with some better ideas...and QUICK! before all the tailors quit.
The big letters are directed towards the devs, not meant as insult to any player...
FYI I DROP ALL USELESS ITEMS INTO MY HOUSE OR BANK WHEN GOING ON MISSIONS OR HUNTS!!! THIS INCLUDES CLOTHING!!! GET A CLUE!!!
The news that there won't be any decay on clothing is a serious blow. The hope that this would be implemented soon was the light at the end of the tunnel. Now the vast majority of people just won't bother buying more clothing once they have one or two nice outfits.
Bah! *goes off to sulk*

What bothers me the most about this is that it now seems that all materials are equal. I used to scour the galaxy for items with good DR, OQ and UT, and now I see that all of my effort was for naught.
Even if the qualiy does affect the probability of sockets, as some have said, do we have any hard data on that? Is OQ the only thing that's important?
When I get on today I will open the ticket and I am seriously consdering dropping the profession...![]()

Is it possible that they removed clothing decay (which wasn't actually working) in order to make it functional and then put it in?
I know I'm grasping at straws here.
