Thread: Supplies of Hides drying up??
As brand new scouts me and my husband played on live Sunday and came to the conclusion that it was better to team ungrouped and loot our own mobs than to team grouped..
Ungrouped we would get 5-6 hides per animal
Grouped we'd get 3-4 hides per animal between us.
Both with the same level of hunt skill.

I've seen no significant reduction in solo yields at Hunting IV.The bugmay only be affecting characters who group with pets.
Hmm, I'll admit I haven't had much play time in the last few days, but I saw a decrease right after the patch. Not as huge as other people (since my character doesn't own any kind of pet or droid), but it was still noticable. They might have partiallyfixed the bug in the last few days and I don't know about it yet.
Try this. Get novice scout. Get a huge group together. I'm talking HUGE. Go to Tat, and hunt Krayts....I'm serious. We killed 4 dragons, and....well....I'm set for a day or three....
The amount of hides you get is equall to the work that goes into it....but it is so worth it.
Hope this helps. =)

It's about communication and networking. All I did was mention to a hunting party from my guild going out for the night that I needed some hides, and they returned and gave me about 2.5k wooly in several stacks under 1k quantity. The best part, they were free.
hehe, that's exactly what i did... took my GSP and picked up my dx2, took a few guildies, *nudge nudge*, and we went hunting ![]()
i can see how it's a problem for a lot of tailors though. some of them don't have hunting skills, and shouldn't be forced to acquire it because of this. best thing to so is probably to make a few scout friends ![]()

Could you tell us a bit more? What where you hunting? I assume by brand new scouts you had only novice scout and maybe novice marksman/bralwer.
Yeah pretty much. But it seemed to remain constant as we went up in level and creature (now hunt 2.. pistol 3) that solo hunting yields more per kill at the moment. Which was the point I was making.
Sadly, I'm afraid you are right.
Once a few enterprizing Scouts and Rangers get a taste of these inflated prices, it will be difficult to wean them back off of them once/ if the harvests return to previous levels.
Another thing that should be taken into account is that minerals, chemicals, flora and all the other resources can be gathered in huge amounts via harvesters, while offline no less. We must go out and harvest each individual creature by hand and it can take many days to collect the number of resources even a personal extractor can do in a single day. Unfortunately, we do not yet have any sort of harvester type traps.
Add that to the fact that a prospector can have multiple harvesters running at the same time and you should see how creature organics will have slightly higher prices than inorganics and flora. It just requires much more work to collect them.

I wanted to make sure I understood the parameters of your test. It's harder toappreciate the decrease when you are hunting both lower level creatures and with low skill (they might round the numbers rather than just trucate them). However, this does seem more like what I got when I was starting (I know it says novice scout, but I have 3/2/3/3). It's good to know that they are already working ona fixin the Test Center.Ithink they we'll have to wait for a live fix though.
I just want to chime in here in defense of us professional Scouts and Rangers.
There was an "unintentional" nerf of creature resources across the board when they implemented the 60% group harvest reduction. We can only hope that our developer gets back from vactation soon and repairs this mistake. Feel free to assist usby voicing displeasure in this reduction.
We are now harvesting roughly 60% of what we previously harvested while solo and another 60% reduction while grouped, and if you don't know, even a Master Ranger only collects a handfull of resources more than a Scout now.
Many people who play Rangers are people that tend to prefer to hunt alone, so telling us to go hunt in groups so we can supply crafters withlarge amounts of materials at low costis just telling us to play in a style don't enjoy.
If the reduction wasn't enough, they seriously increased the materials used in our camps as well as removing a Polymer component and replacing it with hides! Why they did this, I'll never know.
Our new Camouflage kits require an enourmous amount of hides for an item that can easily break one minute after applying it!
So between increasing our material requirements and adding hide components to our bases, and requiring us to use even more hides in our camoflage kits thatareunpredictably broken and wasted...
All these compounded by the across the board harvest reduction is cuasing us to raise our prices on Hides and other creature organics and that is only if we can spare them.
I hope this helps inform the crafting community about the harvesting and pricing issues. We can only hope that solo harvest will be returned to previous levels soon.
Thanks for the update.
I don't know a whole heap about economic stuff, but I don't see this sudden demand for hide coupled with this harvesting bugas being very good for the economy as a whole.. even as the bug is fixed the prices will still remain the inflated rate for the most part and take a very long time to diminish again ![]()
