Trust is not much of an issue I think. For like a year people were buying necklaces sight unseen. People whom I've never heard of are buying up my droids at 100k a pop without having a clue what they do (other than what I put on the label) since they can't see most of the stats on them. And armorsmiths do most of their business through selling very expensive packs of armor without people being able to see either the stats or the color (often times the packs are not labelled nor is there a sample in the store). Bio Engineers sell full runs of additives at over a million credits a pop and generally sell those in packs. So people are already conditioned to buying things sight unseen. In your case, even if they find out they hate what they bought, or for whatever reason it's not at all what they expected, it's a very inexpensive mistake compared to all the other ones I mention.

The real problem I see with this business model is that it screams of factory production and you'll not be able to do that.

Well, yes and no. I never did use factory production, even when I kept a huge number of items on my vendor. It seems under this method, I probably won't have more than 500 items for sale at a time (considering that each pack has 5 items in it x 12 outfits x 5 outfits of each type in stock = 300ish) and unless I have a huge rush on production, it won't take any longer than restocking a normal vendor. I'd love to factory produce, but I don't see it as a necessity. Besides, I only have one factory.

Well, but here is the difference. If you have a "typical" tailor vendor with 1000 items in it, that vendor is probably going to have at least 300-400 unique items (i.e. item/color combinations). Good luck storing 400 crates of clothing. But in your new model, 12 outfits x 5 items = 60 crates of clothing. A very reasonable number which would (have) allowed you to probably go 4-sockets on them, and be 100% sure that you've got the exact colors etc. If it were me doing it, I'd not even consider it unless I could do it in a factory, but that's just me.

I hand craft everything but componants by hand

my grab n go packs I did were done in about 4-5 styles, roybgpbrblw doubled and then same with opposite trim

sure if you are setting up for identical styles that wont switch out factorying would be a great time save,

but really the minute it takes a tool, and useing a default item macro, you can pop out items like nothing

I actually just switched to this business model myself. I've sold outfits for a long time, it's always been my favorite thing to do, but now I have only outfits. (Plus my old stock that I'm selling off cheap.)

I don't have any of them on display, I don't have room in my shop for 50+ outfits. (Yes, that's crazy, but I'll drop some if I start burning out.) In all my time selling these outfits, even from before I mastered Tailor, I've only had one complaint from someone who thought I tricked them. It turned out that I did no such thing, they just didn't like what they bought. Even then, I had my vendor bark out that all outfits could be seen online at Lightstrider Image Design. I've since added many more outfits to my selection, so I can't just direct people there, but I haven't had a problem with that yet.

I find it extraordinary that people will buy a pack without any idea what's in it.

I had a guy buy 3 packs from me - that were on my "special order pick up" vendor. 2 were style packs, that I had tossed there until I decided exactly how I was going to enter this market, and the other was labeled as someone's order. The guy gave the someones order to a friend as a thank you gift, without changing the pack name... the recipiant contacted me, apologized and returned it...

I had a good laugh, as the contents of the order was an intentionally tacky fishing outfit. LOL
