I DO think something is not working correctly with sockets. Why would you need to log out when having a bad time crafting to get a chance at getting more sockets. It just seems almost too random .. has any dev type actually looked into this to see if it's working?

I have +32 to clothing assembly and yet I get more sockets without the assembly help. 5 of that is force assembly.

While I agree that it sucks, ranting is not going to get the devs' attention in a good way.

No. Ranting rarely gets the good kind of attention. Thats why I have been trying to figure out more information to make it easier for the devs to see where the problem is and fix it. With the current schedule I am not sure of how much time they have to track down those complicated hidden bugs.

Aye, I feel your pain. A customer wanted 4 socket +17med /+17 melee bio paramilitary camos. I think I made 20 pairs before i got the 4 sockets in the one. However, he agreed to pay 100k for them since I told him at the time i was up to my 9th pair that i would go through many tissues to get the 4 sockets. In the end, I placed the other 18 pairs on my vendor and have sold maybe.. 3 of them by now, haha.. Ah well, all in a days work, no?

I only do BE clothes at this point (at least for the general public) and truthfully I just don't considertrying to make4 socket itemsworth my time and resources. If a customer comes to me requesting a 4 socket item I politely decline and explain that it's a choice I've made due to the way the socketing system is set up and if they have complaints they should direct them at the devs. Even if they offer to pay for all the unsuccessful items I care less about the money than the time and effort it takes me to collect good resources (since I make all my own BE tissues) to throw them away on 20 items I won't be able to sell.

Made an outfit tonight.. someone wanted 4 sockets (shock) in all the clothes. I got 4 right away on belts, boots and gloves but never on shirts, pants usually get 3 to 4 but mostly 3 on average but shirts are the real killer for me and I cannot seem to get 4 sockets on shirts or at best rarely.. and this is eating pyrollian cake and +32 to clothing assembly, I ended up stopping in the middle of crafting.. it was depressing.

At the risk of sounding like a "noob" (lol), I'm not sure I understand the difficulty fixing the issue. It seems in my little brain that it would be something a kin to the searching lairs. They changed the chances to receive eggs to 75% compared to anything else. Now, why is it not possible for them to change the socketing percentages by level or "tailoring" box? I would say by master you should be at 90% and with skill mods closer to 100%. I am a Master Artisan (so I have engineering 4) and Master Tailor.I also have +19 to "clothing assembly" and wear the tailor's apron. My crafting tools are 14.84 and my station is 44+. I still have the same issues with sockets that everyone else has. So,being that I'm having the same success rates as a Master Tailor without Artisan or skill mods has, I would think either the percentages need to be worked (again see beginning..I seem to think this shouldn't be too hard), OR the sockets rely on a different and incorrect assembly mod (like weaponsmith or instrument assembly/ some skill unrelated so we've not thought to associate it). {how's that for a run on sentence?}

Of course, I wouldn't know where to begin to fix this issue or how difficult it is. I play games, lol. Heck.. at least they fixed the necklace bug while I was gone... kinda thought they'd have this licked to. *sigh*

I also have a crafting station of 45+ and crafting tools at 15 and +32 to clothing assembly. It really should not be THAT difficult to get 4 sockets with really good equipment and higher than average skills. It just drives me bonkers.

Im not convinced assembly helps (however ive not tried force assembly only tapes)

and my personal reccord was 37 formfitting undershirts while trying to get one with 4 sockets for my +4/+18 melee defence shirt factory run

(all the failed ones i kept and sold still, just for less than the 4 socket factory run)

EDIT: also as some others im using good quality station (44 ish) and 15.00 on all tools. And a +25 assembly suit, none of this seems to make any noticable difference to me.

That is why I think it's completely borked, because you'd THINK all of that WOULD make some difference. However, I don't ever crit fail anymore.

I noticed the other day that our expermintation says it is for COMBAT MEDICINE... so it may be something this simple.

Or am I just bugged?

I feel your pain.I got an order once for a pair of Uniform Boots with 4 sockets. I though, "Hey, no problem, Uniform Boots aren't that hard to make anyways."27 pairs of boots later...I was ready to maul someone if they wanted me to make another pair of boots. Hehe.

Sockets can be so frustrating. Sometimes I'll be lucky, and I'll get like 4 or 5 items in a row with 4 sockets, without even really needing them. Then, when I need the luck...it just won't happen for me. When it comes to BioClothing though, I dont promise 4 sockets to anyone. Theres no way Im burning through27 or soActive Biosensor tissues to make an Injury/Wound Treatment shirt with 4 sockets. What customer is going to want to pay for27 shirts and only get 1? And I'm not going to want to eat those loses. So I always explain to them, I'll do the best I can do, put on my happy Tailor Suit and cross my fingers, but thats all I can really promise them when it comes to BioClothing and sockets.

Sometimes those socket gods are just vicious though.

You have a point... I never fail now.. (never say "never" right?) Anyhoo.. Silly stuff like this is why I went on leave. I've been a tailor since a month or so after launch... and I can say, it wouldn't suprise me at all if they had socketing based on, oh I don't know.. weapon assembly...
