I've put up with this like every other tailor since the Wookiee armor patch - not being able to do a blasted thing about socketing. Before that patch we master tailors were able to get 4 sockets on items quite a lot of the time, but when tonight I made 18, yes EIGHTEEN, Straight pairs of sandals before I got one with 4 - most being 2, some being 1, and one having NONE - I've had it.
People don't understand we can't control socketing. People don't want to buy clothes unless they have all 4. Tailor experimentation does NOTHING except for the stupid armor padding.
FIX SOCKETS!!! I don't want to hear working as intended, I don't want to hear you're not supposed to be able to be perfect even at master - I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO MAKE 18 DARN PAIRS OF SANDALS FOR MYSELF BEFORE I GET FOUR SOCKETS!

Flame away if you want, fellow tailors, I don't care. I've been a master tailor for over a year & I'm tired of this BS. 18 sandals, 12 low-cut tops - I'd go insane if I tried to make 4 socket stuff only for my vendors. It's bad enough trying to make myself an architect/artisan outfit.
Edit: I'm just a little worked up right now because it took me SIX HOURS today to do Survey TWO. Something happened this weekend to screw up sampling, so it wasn't a good time to spend an hour trying to get one pair of sandals for myself. Forgive my rant
but please fix this!!!!!

I once made 32 pairs of pants to get 4 sockets for a factory run
Its even worse when what you are making is using BE tissue

Sorry to break it to you, but there's nothing to fix. In reality, sockets are now working as intended. SHOULD it be basically random like it is? I don't think so, but last word from development was it was probability based. Highest chance to get 2 or 3 sockets, lowest probability to get 0 and 4. I don't recall what the stated % were. I don't care if it's experimentation based, but you should get a higher chance of 4 at Master Tailor.
Novice artisanshaving the same chance of getting 4 sockets as I do at master tailor is pretty difficult to understand.
A fellow guildie was trying to get a 4 socket headwrap and gave up after about 30 of them. I tried it, and got 4 sockets on my first try. /shrug dice roll every time it seems.

They need to look at their RNG - the night before last I was getting all 3's and 4's and last night I was getting all 1's and 2's.....

I find that when I wear my assembly outfit I get 4 sockets m ore often than when I don't.
But on days when it seems that I get only 1 and 2 sockets I tell people with 4 sockets order that I am not having luck that day and they will have the order done tomorow.
No point in being frustrated over something like that.

Its one of the issues that I mention fairly often and hopefully something will be done about it. In the mean time, both clothing assembly skilltapes and force sensitive assembly help. They don't give consistant 4 sockets, but they *do* help.

Their what?
My first response was ranger cuz of playing FFXI - but I know that's not it. I'm tired, so my brain is going with some astrology term next like the three years Saturn spends kicking your butt in your late 20s.
Just kidding...
I am tired though, so can you spell it out for me?

Yeah - normally they do, but I was wearing my full outfit when this happened
I guess I'll have to go anti-RP and go to the Village for the force assembly

Sometimes its just luck. When I get bad sockets or bad assembly too many times in a row I log out, wait a few minutes and then come back. That sometimes clears it up.
I wish I could get force assembly and repair but I am out of skillpoints! ![]()

I don't know if this will help, but I have noticed that when I craft I often tend to have good sessions and bad sessions. In good sessions I get 3 and 4 socket items more often, and in the bad sessions I get mostly 1 or 2 socket items. I've started telling people who insist on high socket items to give me more time so that I can wait for a "good" crafting session. Sometimes I'll make a test item like a ribbed shirt and see how many sockets it has. If it's 2 or less, I'll wait for another time. If I get 3 or 4, then I might try to craft the requested high socket item. It's not perfect, of course, but I have noticed on numerous occasions when I'm crafting several items, that there are times that I just crank out a lot of high socket count items at the same time.
