/cry

Well I posted.. hope they listen to all the concerned crafters/merchants/politicians .. and from the sounds of it even customers.

I LOVE tailoring so much and if this does go live I hope that they do some major tweeks (deleting whole idea would be best tweek

Makes me wonder about a coalition of crafters who won't list there vendors on the bazaar. Wonder if it'll work..

It seems like all merchant revamps that are proposed almost always negatively affect tailors more so than the rest of the crafting populace. When they first proposed the vendor sales limits (and those were such a joke at first), it would negatively affect the tailors most of all. Master Artisans a close second.

Now this. I can't think of a profession that will suffer more of a negative impact than tailors...again.

Personally, I like the idea of me not having to search galaxy-wide for good resources to buy.

I hate the idea of selling clothing at crap prices because Billy-Jean from across the galaxy can sell her housedresses at cut rate prices and open her very own K-mart.

I wish the dev's would do this with just resources. Anything wearable, come to the store for a fitting. Including armor.

I just don't know what to say. This is just stupid, and I get the paranoid feeling that the Dev's have forgotten about the last race of crafters. We're named Tailors!

Well couldn't we just set the access fee's to 50k credits - that'd force the people to pay more for their items again /snicker

As a Tailor and a Merchant here are some of my concerns (and yes they have all probably been said before, but the more voices the better, right?)

-Merchant XP: how is it gained now?

-New crafters: They'll never stand a chance competing galaxy-wide with the multimillionairs undercutting prices. This might not have much of an effect on Weaponsmiths or Armorsmiths, but will have a huge effect on Tailors where one Tailor's Hawtpants are pretty much the same as the next Tailor's.

-Shops: Why take pride in your shop? Why spend countless hours decorating, setting up vendors, dressing them just so? Why not just set up a vendor in a back room and throw everything on that one?

-Merchant Skills: Why bother going Master in merchant? This makes many boxes of Merchant obsolite, pointless. Why do I need to Register with Planetary Campaign? I can just set all my vendors to display galaxy wide!

-Player Cities: Why visit a player city now? I can just shop all their vendor's from the Theed Bazaar! Sure, Merchants can turn this off in the hope people will still come visit the shops, but if you have the option to shop from any city with a bazaar and have it delivered, why take the time and effort to travel to a vendor? This will also make the Politician profession pointless when tons of player cities die from lack of visitors.

-Customer Relations: Why visit with a crafter face to face? Crafters, no need to be polite and considerate of your customers - you'll never see them. We can all be vendor bots! or shoud that be vendor (singular)? I know a lot of crafter that take pride in serving their customers face to face, that take a lot of pride having repeat customers, beautiful shops, all the things that helped the crafter get their name out there - but that will all become useless. This makes crafting a SOLO thing, instead of a customer relations thing like it should be!

-Quitting Crafting: For those crafter that take pride in having customer relations, decorated well placed shops ... what's the incentive to make them stay when they just become a vendor-bot? What will make them take pride in their work when they are being undercut by people that arent in it for the fun of crafting, just looking for a few fast credits?

-WP: I like the idea of the Bazaar giving you a WP to a vendor that is guaranteed to have your item in stock. Maybe even placing a hold on the item for a period of time.

-Storage/Custom Orders: Yes, I know you are not SUPPOSED to use vendors for storage ... but it is done. how will items priced at 99999999 be handled? What about custom orders? Are crafters being forced to hand deliver these items? Or forced to set up a seperate vendor just so customers can be guaranteed their custom order will not be bought by someone else on the bazaar? This may cause MAJOR rearranging of vendors, especially those that are loaning out vendors to sell friend's/guildies wares.

In case i wasnt clear enough, my vote is NO!!

This is what I wrote in to the forums on the DEV forum see what you all think, (PS I'm a Master Tailor):

I have to say that I find many different problems with this idea.

One of them is the problem with what will happen now to all of the beautiful shops that so many people spent so much time and effort creating. I know I personally have spent hours upon hours setting up my shop and making it look beautiful to entice customers to return there. Then because the whipping out of shops in general is going to happen then what will happen to the architect profession? Because of the lack of people needing to set up nice looking shops, the main business of architects will die. People will just build one small house with 12 vendors in it and won’t need to furnish it. It will kill the whole trade of guild halls as malls and other houses as shops. Plus all the furnishings that architects make a killing on will disappear if people are allowed to shop from anywhere.

Another problem I have is that already in certain areas if you search the galaxy for an item then you will have 10 pages of things to look through. If you throw in all the different vendors out there, it will soon become an unmanageable task to find what you are looking for. Another problem that will also arise with that is people like myself, (a tailor), like to put brand names such as my (PMF) brand before the article’s title to signify that it came from my store. If people are allowed to just search for the lowest prices then they won’t be looking at my items at all any more because they will have to scan so much for the items they are looking for. One more problem is the whole idea of personal orders will go by the way side very soon because someone somewhere in the galaxy is bound to have what you want on a vendor. So people will just be able to order what you want from a vendor, in essence a NPC, instead of interacting with the person who owns the shop and ordering what they need. The whole point of SWG is to make it more personable by having things not sold by NPCs which this will eliminate. Also the goal of SWG was to have a player-controlled economy, which will be destroyed by pitting everyone in the galaxy against everyone else. If you really want to do something like this, you should limit it to each planet, so you’d only be able to see items on vendors from the planet you are on. Then also include for someone to register their vendor on the bazaar they will have to pay upwards of an EXTRA 100,000 credits per month to do so. That way it keeps it a bit more even for those that can’t afford to make tons and tons of clothes to put up on their vendors. Also if you want to include the option of delivery to where you are then I think you should make a “shipping” fee, which would be about 30% extra of the price paid, that way people would be encouraged to still visit the actual vendors shop and not just shop “on-line” per se.

Another problem I see arising is that people that are already established in the game will have a greatly unfair advantage because now they will not have to find new customers, now it will all be on the bazaar which was normally reserved for those that aren’t merchants and the upcoming ones. It was a place where someone who was trying to make a few credits while trying to become a tailor or some other artisan profession could sell their wares. Now this update will eliminate that.

Also there are quite a few guilds that have built themselves on being merchant guilds. They are places a person could go to guarantee to find all of what they are looking for in one stop. But now this will destroy those guilds because of the lack of people coming to shop in their towns. It will destroy many towns that have been around for a long time in the game because people will no longer be visiting there if they can buy everything they want from a bazaar terminal. In essence, this update will destroy what we as SWG players have tried so hard to create: a realistic community with realistic boundaries that are true to the Star Wars universe. We want to play Star Wars Galaxies, not Let’s-Break-All-Realistic-Boundaries Galaxies.

Please do not add a galaxy-wide vendor search to the game. It may be more convenient for certain types of players, but for the rest of us, it will turn our gaming experience into something that is more like real life, and we don’t want that. Other games are more quest based and there is less interaction between players. If I wanted that I would go play them but I stay with SWG because of the player to player interaction it gives me and the more personal touches I’m allowed to put into my gaming experience. I don’t want to play EverQuest, I want to play SWG. We play to escape. Don’t let the real world destroy all we’ve worked for.
