Thread: Reinforced Panels Schematic

Yea, I'm so glad to see so many tailors that agree on the schematic issue. I'm so sick of getting tells about schematics. I sell the crates. I'm not selling at any price. If an armorsmith really wants it, they have to buy from me. I doubt that they would give me schematic for their armor. I'm not giving a schematic for my items.

For those who do sell the schematics, I wish you would at least charge them through the roof.

I think I'll make a post on the armorsmith board.

I have so many panels. I've had two people make big orders and back out. I see they have factories.

The answer for this is "can't make, can't learn" for factories. At least make them do tailor themselves.

Apparently they all do. God forbid armorsmiths should be forced to divert a couple thousand credits from their millions to a tailor every once in a while....

You cant actually trade a Schematic right? Dont you have to put it in there factory for them to use it?

You can use the bazaar or a vendor to trade them.

I had an armorsmith ask me for one, and when I refused saying it undermines my profession she could not grasp why this could be so. After all, she said, I don't have to rely on anyone to make my clothes. Another one said all of us tailors are always trying to rip him off. Yet I am sure this same fellow was charging top price for his armor. Both got put on ignore. I am nobody's tailor ***edit*** as someone said here in these forums. I don't mind selling the crates, I just will not undermine my profession so they can get even more profit at our expense, and free tailor exp in the bargain.

Especially to a rude individual who thinks my profession is less valuable than theirs.

Yeah, those hides and obscure types of steel just fly into my tailors shop on little wings.

We could always agree to trade them for a really well experimented high level armor schematic... I mean after all it doesn't cost them anything to make right? *smiles*

Just some general replies from the armorsmithing perspective ...

The main frustration I felt as an armorsmith trying to get RFPs from a Tailor was that this was merely a subcomponent, a scant 5% of the total resources involved in making something like a Chitin chestplate. My thoughts went something like this ...

"OK, I've scoured about 7 planets, found the best bone to use, got some really good leathery hides, decent scaley hides, and well, the wooly hides stink, but it's the best I can do right now ... I've got a ton of ferrous mineral with good quality and malleability, and I set up a harvester on Dantooine so I could get that 988 quality polymer! I'm going to make the best chitin this galaxy has ever seen! OK, let's check what else I need ... fiberplast panels? No problem. Chitin Armor Segments? That's my business! Reinforced Fiber Panels??? What on earth are they? ....

"Hmm, let's check the skill trees ... OK, Tailor-Field Wear II. I'll just use the old search tools to find a tailor around here ...

"/tell TailorDudeA Excuse me, do you have Field Wear II? I'm looking to purchase some reinforced fiber panels ...

"TailorDudeA: Nope, sorry, don't have that yet.

"/tell TailorGirlB Excuse me, do you have Field Wear II? I'm looking to purchase some reinforced fiber panels ...

"TailorGirlB: AFK Auto-response: I am currently away from the keyboard ...

"/tell TailorTaylorC: Do you have FW2? I'm looking to buy some reinforced fiber panels.

"TailorTaylorC: Yeah, but I'm currently backlogged on my factory. Try me again in a few days. BTW, they cost 8,000cr each

"/tell TailorTaylorC: If you're backlogged, could you just sell me a schematic? My factory is wide open and waiting to be used. I'll even pay you 15K for a 100-run schematic provided you make it with my fiberplast and metal.

"TailorTaylorC: Nope, I don't sell schematics. Check with me this weekend.

Wash, rinse & repeat inmany other cities. Finally I find someone who will sell me two 25unit crates for 10K after about 2 days of this ...

All for a subcomponent which hasnext to nobearing on the quality of my final product. It didn't take me nearly this long to find good organic materials on other planets, buying from hunters and such for something that is the vast majority of my resource need.

And you know what? It's really not worth the hassle for most armorsmiths if you keep trying to gouge those prices (I was even quoted 10K/25unit crate once). We'll all just grind up to Field Wear II or find a tailor in our PAs who will feed us with crates or schematics. And if we've still got some skill points left over, why not grind up to Field Wear IV and make some dusters? I hear they're pretty popular. Shoot, I could even use them as a loss-leader for my armor! Free duster with purchase!

I don't think you guys want that. Shoot, *I* don't want that. But unless some of these prices start getting more reasonable, or people will sell schematics for reasonable prices, this is what you will face.

A couple of specific replies:

OK, this one actually had me laughing. When you have to find incredibly rare stuff like Neutronium Steel, hard-to-get stuff like Lokian leathery hide (which absolutely stinks on my server right now, btw), and still scour the 10 planets to try to find the best bones (avian and normal) and hides (wooly, bristley, scaley, leathery) to make your best and most popular products, then I'll sympathize with your resource plight.

Last I checked, there was fiberplast and every type of general organic resource on every planet, and it's not as if resource quality matters a lick to most tailored items right now since there's no decay.

Oh man, if I were on your server Anabelle I'd make that trade any day and twice on Sundays. So, umm, just where are you going to get the exact samefactory crates of fiberplast panels as I used to make the schematic? Planning on going to Endor for the bone? How about Dathomir for the leathery hide?

*smiles*

Just to reinforce my main point -- what you are making for armorsmiths is a subcomponent, and a relatively minor one at that. We're not asking for Black Gunman's Dusters schematics, we're asking for a subcomponent. Price gouging, griping, etc will only buy you embittered clients and, in the end, more competition. I don't think you all want this.

So after all that - as an armorsmith, what do you think is an acceptable cost for crates of panels?

If it's such a minor and trite component try not using it and see how your armor making goes.

I sold a couple schematics to one guy and he emailed me to tell me he had enough xp from the schematics to train up field wear 2 and make his own now. That should be motivation enough for tailors not to sell schems. It put it into a whole new light for me I konw. No more schematic sales for me unless it's a crazy price that only a fool would pay. Be like everyone else and buy the factory crates from me if you want.

We also need wooly hide and bristly hide specificallyplus specific metals and gemstonesso I don't see your point.

I'd sure like to know where I could find some Titinium Aluminum on Starsider. Can't make my most popular Backpack. I'm sure you can tell me where I can find it since you're so knowledgable about tailor components.

Simple solution. I'll sell you a 1000 schematic for reinforced panels provided you make me your armor schematic with a panel I give you for them.

Sure, I'll travel all over to get what I need to run your stuff. Why not? I've got to sell your stuff to make my money back.

It's SOOOOOOooooo minor, here you are threatening to make dusters and compete with us.

HAHAHAHAHA.

That's too funny. Knock yourself out. It's not like there isn't 600 tailors on my server and most people who REALLY wanted a duster could loot one or buy a looted one off the bazaar 2 weeks ago. What people are coming tome now for are custom gunnmen's dusters. So make sure you get Master Tailor to complete withour color selections. Of course if you do that, you're not an armorsmith any more. You're an armorsmith/tailor. I hope you're happy with your use of skill points. We started out to be tailors + something. That's what we're going to be. You however have tossed one of your goals just to show us! I assure you, we're impressed. REALLY!

As for the guild crafter, I'm sure that if your guild had a tailor, you'd be using him anyway. What he charges you is his business. I'm betting he doesn't actually exist because you're here "threatening" us.

Whatever you do, good luck. We're still not going to change our practices. After all, I'm sure the 4K-8k you pay for 25 RFP is reflected in your price. I doubt the tailors are making you paupers. If you got them for 1500 credits, your prices would stay at what you charge now. You'd just get more profit out of it.
