I used to have a shop in kaadara, and I made decent money... I'm also doing ok right now out in Mos Oasis, and black/white items sell well.My shop is in Kaadara! It used to be a really booming little area with lots of people until the Imperial crackdown. Now no one wants go to there because you can't get out of the city without being scanned. A lot of the time I am being scanned inside of the starport as I am loading, which I thought was not supposed to happen.
heh, I set up my shop first in keren, the to kaadara... and stayed there for quite a while. business was good even when there were multiple tailors nearby, and the area is really pretty... I sit near a server boundary though, folks keep losing stuff when they walk out my door
then my boyfriend's guildies started a city on dant, so I went there. they gave up before the first round of inactivity purge was put in, since apparently they did a lot of cross server... then I moved to Mos Oasis on Tatooine, where FFW (a buddy of mine) started his city. I don't stock enough nowadays, but I'm still making enough money to get by

The ideas people mentioned are good ideas, but also consider selling resources if you can survey. My tailor was leveling up combat at the same time as leveling in tailor, so needless to say really, big group missions never yielded me much credits since I wasn't too good at combat and I could never afford buffs or armor even. Well I decided to level up in artisan as well as tailor and started placing harvesters, carefully rationing out my credits in the hopes that the resource would sell and make up for it, just collecting not only the resources I needed for tailoring but others as well, anything I could get that I thought would sell..and I did the leg work hoofing it around and following resource trails.
And after mastering tailor I was able to start making more selling clothes especially BE'd clothes. And once I was master I didn't need to sell resources so much because i made enough with the clothes. Suddenly i could afford to go get buffed however my combat skills have always been mediocer..i.e. Ive yet to master a combat prof with my tailor. I still keep an eye out for good resources though..and grab what I can up to save in case of an emergency.
I won't lie to you..it took me months and months to build up my tailor's finances to where they are now(little over 2 mil*shrugs)but I have satisfaction knowing I did it for the most part by myself..some help from the guilds she has been in. Just a thought and by the way..my tailor is also on Ahazi and I would be happy to help you out if you needed, offer advice,or answer any questions or whatever
My Ahazi tailor is Dryas.

I know how you feel. I started out as Dancer/Artisan/Tailor and I didn't make much money... I mede a little over the bazaar... I began to take up rifle and scout to at least get myself some hides... I did delivery in one Town... because even a kreetle was able to kick my a**... For a long while I handsamplesd all my resources, because I didn't have the money and energy for harvesters... and I crafted my components all by hand... I dropped dancer and picked up armoursmith now to make fashion armor...
Now I finally have 2 millions on my account but only because I sold the imp banner from the election on Gorath... Now I was Tailor Master for about two months and I am still even with my income... but I have big harvesters and factories... to maintain... and I don't make BE thing yet...
Finally I CAN buy the tissues needed....
I hope it will get better too, but I am still awfully happy if I sell something from my vendor twice a week... That's sad though... no one seems to like to travel to get to a shop... We have a shuttleport in our city but still it is difficult to get business. I have to rely on custom orders... which is really sad... or perhaps I do something wrong....
Anyway I found doing space missions helps with my income...

I'm in a player city on tat that's nowhere near a NPC city, with a handful of tailors within walking distance... so don't be discouraged

Meh, I WOULD harvest resourses, but it seems so redundant. I work with a partner and basiclly I pay him 50k a week and he supplies me with whatever tissues or resourses i need that week. But when I don't have the money, (now) nothing for me. But getting a lot of resourse would still seem redudant to me. I have 2 harvestors up, but just for general needs. (also I have no more lots left
) Feel free to check out my shop, maybe I'm not as bad off asI thoughtI was. /shrug /flipcoin

If you just need some cash to keep you going, the best way I found to make money fast was to do delivery missions between Theed and Moenia. You can get the missions for around 1k or a little more each. With 2 missions it's about 2k per one-way run, 4k per round trip. Plus you can do factioned delivery as well and earn imp FP from Theed or Reb Fp from Moenia. Then if you're JtL enabled you can travel between them for free with no waiting.
I did this for a while when I was just starting out in tailoring and in dance to help build up my earnings. This was back when the shuttle wait times were still 10 minutes, but I could earn over 10k in about a half hour to an hour plus get some FP to boot. It was a pretty good deal at the time. Not necessarily a lot of fun, but it helped me accumulate both credits and FP.
Now as far as tailoring, I found that most people wanted either Master Tailor items or Master Tailor colors (or at least near Master level) so I really didn't start earning much until I mastered, and even then I didn't start earning a lot till I got into BE tailoring. My advice is to find a way to earn credits to manage your finances for now so that you can hang in there till you reach Master when things should get better. But even then you may need to do more than just stock your vendor and wait for people to come to you. A lot of people like personalized service, and I have some clients who will buy only from me (or at least that's what they tell me
), so you may want to still put yourself out there and get to know people as you can - flash your Master Tailor title, hang out in cantinas or starports and such, make that extra effort to find just the right color or item or to go meet a customer at their convenience, even throw some items on the bazaar with your name clearly labeled on them. Hope that helps.

Heres what you do.
Pick the best noobie planet, with the highest amount of new players. Usually this is Mos Eisley or Bestine on Tatooine.
The absolute most important line to skill up first as a Tailor is Field Wear.
Next, make 4 Bounty Hunter Backpacks, 2 Spec Ops packs, 2 tech packs, 2 pairs black uniform boots, 2 special ops Dusters (black), 2 black infiltrator suits, and assorted other items from the line. Camo pants always sell well, do 3 pairs name them Desert, Forest, and Urban. You can do the same for special ops dusters as well.
Initially you can sell the items for 1000cr X tier, I think youll find that you can sell certain items for more. But either way if you put those items up you will have to restock every day or two. For me backpacks were good sellers. If you have a yacht (travel costs nothing) go to Theed, Coronet, Bestine, all the places that the new pilot trainers are, and put a couple items on each bazaar until you fill up your allowed sales.
I know as a Tailor its boring to do black, grey, drab colors but combat types love that stuff. Last time I leveled up tailor (working on it again now) I was making between 30-60k per day with this method.
Good Luck,

I started and my primary is still a Tailor-
I was on Tat in the begining. I would ride 1500m from Bestine and find the closest player city with a artesan termainal. I would locate a source at the player city and another in Bestine. I would choose two identical suvery missions for each leg and then run them. A round trip would net me 10K, the only irritation being getting similar missions so I wouldn't have to survey every time- just go to the pre selected spot.
A few of these and I was able to put down 2 BER4 harvestors to keep me in Fiberplast and Polymer. Purchased other items from the bazaar and ground like crazy.
I mastered tailor in about two weeks (Yes, I didn't stop living!) and the game has been sweet ever since. As a bonus, once I made master tailor I mastered merchant without even trying.

I'm standing in your shop right now
I have some suggestions for you, these are strictly personal opinions, but they've worked for me and other folks I know.
first, the shop itself:
- it's nice to have clothing display, but you might want them grouped together in a room instead of scattered amoung the vendors. I had trouble telling which is which when I first walked in. the room with the armoire in it makes a great small showroom
- on the same note, your vendors is hiding behind all that black clothing!
you might want to have it "stand out" by giving it a few brighter items.
and the goods:
- you have the correct idea of stocking a variety of items, however some of the colors are the murky ones that people seldom buy. I hate to say this, but if you're low level and want to make money, stick to stuff that sells. that means black and white, or sometimes greys and tans. I would suggest that you go up the color tree after you finish fieldwear to get camos, dusters, and the stuff combat folks like.
- using unique item names is a good start
you can "brand" your items so folks will likely remember who you are and visit you again. also, putting the color(s) of the item in the name helps folks find what they need, and people tend to buy more if it's easy to find.
- your neighboring tailor doesn't seem to stock as much as some other tailors I know (including myself, when I have time), so that might be good for you... just make sure your stuff isn't more expensive than hers.
- I see BE clothing on display, but none in the vendor. definitely stock some if possible. if you want to play it safe put the tissues in the "popular" clothing items, and make them a popular color. sometimes that means black, but it's a necessary evil... especially if you're looking to boost sales.
to promote your goods:
- sell items in the bazaar. put a little line in your /notepad about your shop with waypoint and such, then paste into each description field. I peeked at the bazaar before arriving at your shop, and nearly none of the items caught my eyes (no brand, no colors), the items are damaged, or they're too expensive. I dropped some camos and bracelets in, and stuff I put into the bazaar usually sell fast even when I price them 1k more than ones in my shop.
- if possible, explore the idea of a secondary or new location in an area with heavier traffic, and possibly away from a master tailor. people are lazy... so the less walking they have to do, the better chance they'll visit. if you can find a spot (like in a busy player city) where folks can step off the shuttle and see your shop that would be best
- I used to host a novice tailor's vendor in my shop to sell some of the lower level items, until she became master. see if you can find something like that for yourself, so you can get your name out while guaranteeing traffic, and the master tailor doesn't have to stock less stuff.
you don't have to run your harvs if you have enough materials; however, if you're grinding you might really have to run missions to support the harvs. it's a tradeoff
it's late, and that's all I can think of right now, so I'm gonna drag myself to coronet and log.

Not new advice but figured I would share that I also had troubles keeping things running. I had two mineral harvs, a chem harv, and 2 wind generators. The generators were just enough for the three. One mineral harvestor and the chem harv were for my own use. THe other mineral harvestor was used solely to mine whatever was the highest resource. I would move them occaisionally back in that day also to difference sources to mine 70 or better. I would sell them in chunks of 500 for 3k (when the bazaar had the 3k limit). Always sold in a da or two. That basically kept my harvs and house running.
