Thread: How much do Dusters sell for?

Alarien, I understand your take on dusters, and you have every right to sell them for however much you wish to. But a lot of other tailors don't gauge prices based on resources alone. Architects, for example, usually price their items based on the number of resources they take to build. Prices may be based on 5 or 10 credits per resource, for example.

Tailored items have to be considered differently. A duster, of course, doesn't use as many resources as a medium harvester, but did any less effort go into creating the duster? If tailored products were priced using the same system that architects use, we would be forced to sell hundreds of dusters in one day just to match the resources needed to build one medium harvester. When taking into account the color, style, and fashion needs of your customer, selling things in that sort of volume just isn't practical.

There are many ways to measure value. Time has a lot of value in itself; tailors arguably have the most customer interaction of any artisan class. We discuss options with clients, give fashion advice, and suggest the appropriate clothes. Often times people will approach tailors with requests like "I want to look great! What can you do?" Answering that question requires a lot of work on our part!

So in other words, don't undervalue your time. It took that marksman about 30 minutes to run two destroy missions that netted 3000 credits. I feel that two destroy missions is a very reasonable opportunity cost for having a custom-made high level tailored item from Field Wear III or IV. If you feel that 1000-2000 per duster is appropriate for the amount of effort you put in, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But I don't necessarily feel that charging more is a sin either.

On ahazi on tatooine, spec-ops started at 5k, gunmans started at 7500, and i'm selling 30+ a day. it's rediculous and i can't keep up with demand or factory components. Cloaks sell pretty good around 5k also, since people like the look.

also depends on where you're selling them. in a place fully populated with "uber doods", its harder to sell them, because everyone already has one from loot.

at the moment, ive had a hard time getting more than 2k for them. i'd really love to see someone pay more than 4k for a spec-op duster
