Thread: How much do Dusters sell for?

Hey all,

I'm about to hit Field Wear 3 and be able to make my first Duster and I'm unsure what their current value is. What is a good price to sell them for? Considering the resources/time investment as well as a healthy profit.

Thanks.

I'd probably take the highest price you can imagine as a fair price for them - and then double or triple it.

No, I'm being at least half-serious about that. Given the number of people I have who've been asking me for the things since Day One, and unless and until there's more supply-side competition, I think you could probably get away with just about any price, and still have your customers go away happy....

On Corbantis I've been selling them for 3K a pop. Could have probably charged a bit more but the bazaar price cap puts a wrinkle in those plans.

What Sue said may sound greedy, but it's the truth. It's a high demand item and coupled with the fact that clothing doesn't currently degrade, I have no problem charging a more than fair price. I just need to figure that price out also =D.

If you can manage the factories and the resources and can get to it frist, well you can ask any price and people will pay outragous sums for it.

The lvl 3 duster is the camoflage one. You can pick 2 colors for it from the cloak/leather color pallet which is nice.

The Lvl 4 duster is the gunman's duster, which is the one most people keep asking for.

Sell for 3k? yeah probably. I'll probably sell them for 750-800. Luckily I'm doing the casual path first so no worries for those who want to scalp the populace on my server.

No offense but if you can get them to pay that much and not have enough to keep up demand why would you not price it there? The only person your hurting is yourself if you do that.

What MrSloth said - I think we tailors, as a group, really need to stick to our guns on pricing - not to gouge or establish a cartel or anything, but just to adopt an attitude of "Hey, I'm working hard and providing a quality service here, and I deserve to make money doing it just as much as that billionaire plutocrat weaponsmith across the street in his spats and monocle...."

I sell spec ops at 4k and gunmas for 5k. Cloaks go for 4500 and I rarely have a complaint about the price.

Cool, thanks for the input all.

Just for fyi, I am the highest Tailor on my server so I'll be the first to offer the duster. As far as I know there are only a few other Tailors close to my level. One isn't going up the FW line and the other has only hit FW 2 to make Fiber Panels for their armor and intends to save the skill points for other things. So apparently, I'll be the only one offering Dusters for a little while.

Right now I charge 4k per Bounty hunter pack and I'm thinking about charging more because people keep ordering them in three's (Dunno why, people just order them in that amount hehe) and it takes a good amount of time to make them. Think I'll soon be charging 5k. I was thinking about charging 7k per Duster since it's higher up the skill tree and after reading your feedback, it looks like this is a reasonable price.

Thanks.

Hi there, Trankuility! I responded to your message on the Starsider bords, and yap, 3000+ is more than a fair price for the dusters.I've had no problems selling my dusters for 3000 and I'm fairly certain I could price them even higher. Unfortunately, most of my customers have refered other people to me based on the 3000 credit price I was originally offering the dusters at. In the interest of keeping good relations with customers, I'm honoring that price. With the demand as high as it is on Starsider, though, youwouldn't have any problems selling them for 4000-5000 a piece.

I sell them for 3k on the bazaar, and 2k in person. I'd sell for more on the bazaar but it doesn't allow me too. I sell every single one on the bazaar, but for some reason in person I get complaints every single time about how its just a jacket and how they could buy a gun for that much. I also charge cheaper in person because in person sales generate repeat customers, bazaar sales don't.

I consider the price gouging on cloaks and dusters to be distasteful for my own business. Sure the market will support it, but it doesn't change the fact that is ridiculously high in price.

If you like to sell at those prices, more power to you and I hope you make good money at it. I can't do it with any conscience. I'll have cloaks tonight and my partner will have dusters by the end of the weekend I imagine. Together will probably go mid 1000s on Cloaks and 2k ish on dusters. Though, the bazaar really won't see them. I'll use them as a promo to bring more people to my store near Coronet, where we do really good business anyway. More customers at home buying cloaks means more customers there buying acessories anyway. In the end, I just feel better about doing business this way.

Yes, I have tons of harvesters, a house, vendors, a factory and between my partner and I, we make more than enough to support and expand our business while still powerskilling on mass materials.
