Thread: 1/3 more critical failure, is it just me?

TONS more crit fails. I'm a Master Tailor, and I repeatedly will crit fail 2 times in a row. This probably happens to me twice a day. This is in addition to all the other crit failures. I'm sorry, but asa Master Tailor, or Master anything for that matter, I should crit fail once or twice a day, if I'm doing heavy crafting. I don't know what algorithm they use, but something's off. I used to suspect it was based on quality of materials, as low DR materials seemed to increase the likelyhood of crit fails. However, now that there are no statistics on materials that matter, this certainly shouldn't factor in.

Ok this is really weird. I tallied up my successes/failures tonight and for some reason things seem back to normal- unline sunday night where I was failing 1 out of 4 with the same materials and tools. So today it seems I don't have the crit failure problem. How about everyone else? Anyone else who was having problems over the weekend still having unusual crit failure problems?

I seem to be critting almost solely on components. Ball Gowns, fine. Flightsuits, no problem. But sit me down with a bit of synthetic cloth, and watch me fumble. *grins* Three synthetic cloth failures in a row last night, and a good few extra in the hour following. It was very odd, seemed to only happen once I'd gotten a better crafting station -- but frankly, if I'm doomed to only fail on components, then....well. Who the heck am I to complain? *g* I was actually hoping that was an intentional feature...

I had three critical failures in a row this evening on metal fasteners. At 3/4/4/4 this shouldn't be happening.

I'm still failing insanely. I'm convinced it's linked to the removal of our experimentation. I noticed as I went up the experimentation tree, I failed less. They remove experimentation and I'm failing as bad, if not worse, than I did when I was sitting at only novice. Anyone else suspect this is linked?

For those of you who are having crit fail problems, please keep a tally of your successes and failures. I'm keeping a tally from now on. It's a good idea to have in order to show something more concrete for the devs in case there is something going on.

I almost hate to say this, in case the ONE time Devs look on here they see my comment and decide there is no need to bother with this issue... but...

Aside from the on crafting tool that seems to just love to critfail on me, I haven't really noticed an increase. I am willing to do a bit of testing though. I think we should come up with a standard test for everyone that is willing to research this to try. I propose the following as a simple test run, with anyone willing to do more expensive testing doing the second batch. And as many runthroughs of the same thing as you feel like doing. Take notes of fail/success ratios, and post them here. If everyone agrees that the two batches together will pretty well cover a fair range, I'll definitely do one, and if I can stand it, two. This will give each tailor 90 pieces, covering a range of skill boxes, a range of complex to simple items and resulting in generally sellable items (ok, not the admin robe... what sells decently out of DA?). The problem with any kind of testing like this is that we really do need to do a bunch of the same bloddy thing in order to make any statistically meaningful analysis.

Simple batch
10 synth panels
10 trim
10 dress slippers

Complex batch
10 reinforced panels
10 uniform boots
10 admin robes
10 cart. belts
10 sunguards
10 camo pants

Or does anyone think this is just a silly waste of time/resources to do?

Ok, according to my tallies I fail 1 in 10, even though I use top quality materials, tools and crafing stations. I am also a master tailor now, and it seems that your rank has no effect on the rate of crit fails. I certainly remember a time where I would fail no more than 1 in 20 before around the time experimentation was removed. I don't know if this is a lousy side effect of it, or something else from a patch or hotfix installed around that time. But crit fails are definately up, regardless of material quality and all.

For me it seems to depend on my playing session. Sometimes I can hardly make anything without constantly failing, and sometimes (like yesterday) I can grind hundreds of items without a single critical failure. Someone on another forum mentioned that it might just be a poorly written random number generator, and if you get a bad seed you are pretty much doomed. This explanation makes sense to me. If you keep getting a large number of failures, you might exit completely out of the game and then log back on to reset the seed. I am not sure if this works or not, but it is worth a shot.

They porolly kept the same random generator than in Everquest /snicker

But really, how can a master tailor fail on something with a difficulty of 8?

For the last few weeks i have had many many more critical fails than i had when i was a novice a fair while ago. I have top of the line crafting tools and station. Two days ago I critical failed 4 times in 10 minutes. The last time was a consecutive critical fail on a fleshwrap I think. /quit was a very good temporary fix at the time.

I've started keeping track lately, and I'm Crit failing about 10% of the time. At least once a week, I crit fail twice in a row. Master Tailor indeed. If they really want to get money out of the game, allow crafter's to get Crit Fail insurance. It'll costX credit / resource, and prevent crit failing on that item. I don't know what the cost should be though, I can't imagine what the cost on a PA hall would be. Of course, it would probably only take 1 crit fail on a PA before that architect 1) quit the game, or 2) never went without insurance again.

I agree with Gyopi.

I'm getting alot of crit fails, and it doesnt seem to matter which station I'm at, the good one or the better one.

It is painful to loose this stuff, can you imagine how painful be component fails are going to be?

I'm an architect and although I gave up making houses/harvestors, the ivory furniture fails are painful too since the components are hard to get and very expensive to buy.

I wish they would fix global advertising and vendor regurgating though, I spent last two days putting hundreds of items back up for sale for 5 vendors. I dont even get to play.
