Sorry for the trolling, just thought I'd put my two cents into this:
I'm in favor of the force-sensitive crafter being able to craft them. I am now a big fan of there being clothing certs on various high-level clothing. It seems strange that a jedi couldn't decide to change clothes: I mean a Master Jedi, could, in theory wear padawan robes as a deceptive ploy to make themselves seem weaker, right??
Thus, it seems obvious to me that Tailors (force-senstive ones) should be able to craft the robes. Jedi's can buy the high-level robes even when they're just a padawan...but to use it, you have to have the certs. Makes sense to me.
For those of you reading the post I placed (Entitled "Please Don't Flame") this works for me as well, so yes, I am being a little bit selfish and self-serving when I support this idea. That doesn't mean that it's not a good idea though. A lot of good ideas are self-serving to some, and while I can say that it'd be awesome if some High-Level (Legendary) clothing required some certs, I acknowledge that this ties back in to my own ambitions. However, regardless of whether this becomes universal, I do think Jedi Robes should have to be crafted.
Tailors seem the most applicable (I've never seen Luke or Obi-wan sitting over a Singer sewing machine going " I just can't seem to get these Lightsaber burns out" or "I can't find a material that matches the color of this robe."
Although I do think it'd be awesome to see a Jedi Robe with a patch of plaid material over a hole...

I don't even think there is a visable distinction between force mastery between Jedi, be it with lightsaber color or clothing(for Dark Jedi the distinction is probabllyso clear thatthe need for visualidentifiers might be considereda weakness). If anyone can prove me wrong, particuarly from www.starwars.com, I would welcome it.

I can't from starwars.com...
go play KOTOR....there is visual distinction between the types of robes as far as I remember (I actually lent my copy to a friend, so I can't double check)
but there ARE visual indicatiors, such as the Padawan Rat-Tailhairdo. I can see a darkside Jedi wearing one just to appear weaker and to draw the opponent in.
Besides there SHOULD be a difference. If one has better protection, it should appear somewhat different.
Off topic, is there a Jedi laundromat? Or do they just buy in bulk and wear new robes each day?
