Thread: How do you keep your vendors stocked every day?
If you really want to spend less time, either price higher or just refer your clients to another tailor. There are plenty out there, and judging by the master tailors who sell fleshwraps for 3k on the bazaar, there are some desperate ones out there as well.
I prefer to fill custom orders, over just grinding a bunch of items to stick on my vendor. It's working with clients, having fun with weird outfits that somehow work, and chatting that makes this profession fun. It's really not that hard to make a decent living and not have to work all day long.
I've started stocking certain items on each day of the week. Today I did jewelry, headwear and packs. Tomorrow I'll do 'bottoms' (pants, skirts, etc) and shoes. I found myself getting really overwhelmed by restocking and this should make it so I spend an hour or two on it instead of 4+ (yes, I have a lot of time to play, so shoot me
)
I also do not craft in my shop. I have a small house a little ways away that is always set to private where I drop my crates and do my crafting. For pre-arranged custom orders I just add the customer to the access list as they need it.
My tailoring has been a lot more enjoyable now that I impose limits on it instead of trying to go for every single sale possible.
I also stock every day but i'll pick one or two items and make a ton of those that day, and do a couple of the good sellers.
I have my afk message on all the time, for one to give me breathing room and two I have my shops locations in it, so even if I ignore tells they still go visit my shop.
~~ VERY IMPORTANT TIP!!~~ Something another master tailor told me about , Take your personal crafting station and block off a room/rooms in your house. To make this work stand in the door way of the room you want to keep private and just step inside the public room and drop your craft station, step back through the door to the private room and then rotate the craft station till the front of it with the orange fire window is facing out into the public room. people now cant walk into your private room/rooms. and if you want to get back there or let someone back there you simply rotate it once walk through the craft station to the next room then rotate it back. People can walk through the back to go out of the private room but cant come back in. (Thank you Kessi!!)
I can not express how happy this has made me
I now have the back part of my house private to use how I please and my VERY busy shop out front. This saves me from having to have a small private house in back of my shop that i kept private for crafting and private fittings.
If you value your sanity and lot space, give this a try ![]()
I'm getting by very well as a recreational master tailor. I sit every now and then and craft a handful of whatever and drop it on the vendor and keep around 80 items on at all times, sometimes more. I recently dropped master image design to take up brawler (like 2 days ago polearms baby yeah!! big stick!). I wear my novice brawler title and act like a buffoon sometimes because its just more fun when nobody thinks you can do anything cool sometimes. People DO NOT comprehend that you dont like to tailor 24x7 or that its not your only skill. I refuse orders from people that seem pushy and redirect them to my vendor and sometimes when it gets really bad i lie and say Im out of synthetic cloth. (lately it hasnt been a lie. Thank you mister factory bug! *sarcasm*) Oh yeah i trailed off sorry. I take every possible opportunity to blow off steam. but yeah... stocking my vendor is just this thing i do at random and its going fine.
All of your suggestions have helped me out alot!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I now have a nice AFK message up which is a lifesaver. I specialize in wedding attire, so when someone asked me last night for wedding rings and a gown, I actually had time to do this. I guess the afk acts as filter soI can choose who and whenI work for. It also states when my vendors will be restocked, (I decided twice a week is enough.. so I don't get burn-out) and tells them to send an email for custom work. That way I can get back to them when I am done the order. At this point most people know what they want so they can place an order.
I had visions of going broke as a tailor, but I am slowly learning that some people only shop in my shop (which explains why someone bought 50 items in one night off my vendor) and most of my repeat buisness WILL in fact wait for me ... to complete their work. They are very gracious and honest people who give me time to work and they don't mind waiting.

Just a thought. Someone buying 50 +/- items at one time, may be taking your hard work and selling it in another city/planet for outrageous prices.![]()
I hope I am soon in the same predicament as you...wondering how *I'm* going to keep my vendor stocked.
I currently have all tier 2 tailoring skills and just trained Field 3 last night. I have not yet opened my own shop, as I have been grinding and am partially PA funded. I wanted to do some serious calculations and figure actual costs of items (without PA help) before I set my prices.

Here's the ideal solution to keeping your vendors stocked:
Get other lower tailors to make what they can and offer it up on your vendors. Let them know the types of things you need.
Share the wealth and let the ones skilling up get some cash for what they produce.
I'm not a versatile tailor (I only do formal wear) and so have been having success getting another tailor to sell me items for my Wookie Wear vendor. It works for her because she is guaranteed getting cash for bulk items and it works for me because I know I can sell anything I put up there and I don't have to bother getting into that line of tailoring..
I actually do have someone who I buy most of the field gear items from and it works great. I am sort of waiting for my other tailor (partner) to get to a point where he can make more wookie items for me.
