1) What level tailor are you? Master Tailor/Master Merchant/Master Artisan

2) How long have you been a tailor? No idea..first and only profession for this character

3) What made you decide to be a tailor? I have a main account that I started with that's an Entertainer and I could never find clothes in the color and styles I liked for her so I decided to get a second account and become a tailor to keep her closet full. Since then, she has become my secondary buff bot and I am a full time tailor. <3

4) What keeps you interested in being a tailor? I love the challenge of finding the right colors and styles for people who are fashion challenged. LOL

5) Have you ever quit tailoring for a while, or are you thinking about quitting? If so, why? Sometimes the tell hell or the unbelievable rudeness of people gets to me....there are days I go anon just to get some work done..but I have found that having a third character just for fighting (yes I know..I'm well aware of my addiction) helps me deal with the stress.

6) Do you do custom orders, vendor sales or both? Which do you prefer? I do both....I like custom orders because they can be a bit of a challenge sometimes.

7) How do you normally handle custom orders? E-mail? Distribution by custom order backpack? In person, on the spot? I request all custom orders to be sent in via email. I then respond to them confirming their order and giving them a general pricing idea - I cc myself in on the response so I have a record of where I am with the order. When the order is completed, I email a "Your Order Is Ready for Pickup" and again cc myself otherwise I panic that I've forgotten something! =)

8) Do you buy resources or do your own mining? I mine gemstones (sometimes it's enough just to spend a night or two surveying overnight) and fibroplast and inert petro/polymer. I buy small discounted stacks of minerals.

9) If you have a vendor, where is it located? Player city? Mall? Style of house? I have three vendors in a PA/Mall (bio eng clothes, fashion clothes, and a generic supplies vendor that has standard tees and jeans, boots and gloves, crated camp kits, repair kits, synth cloth crates for grinding, etc.)

10) Do you own your own vendor or contract with a merchant? I am strictly my own boss. I do have a couple of delivery people I keep on retainer and a resource "go-to" guy for big orders.

11) How many vendors do you have? How do you organize the clothes? 6 vendors (1-High Fashion, 2-Bio Clothes, 3-General Retail, 4- Strictly Entertainer, 5- Packs and Generics, 6-Resource vendor in my shop next to my station for storage)

12) How many items do you keep on your vendor? Bio keeps roughly 50-75...Fashion 200 or so...Generic 200 or so..Packs/Gen 50...Ent Vend 100-150

13) Do you specialize in certain types of clothes? Certain colors? My specialty is bio clothes and entertainer clothes

14) How do you name your clothes? With your name on it? Color? Both..each item has a unique name and the colors have unique names as well..I never call something purple..it's either grape or eggplant or amethyst..etc

15) Do you do bioengineered clothing? Do you deal with multiple bioengineers? Yes..and with the holo grinders and the very poor meats lately it's been a chore to find good tissues

16) How do you deal with bioengineered clothing? Custom orders? Vendor sales? Which "stock items" sell out? Both...all my WC/Int stuff flies out the door..same with INJ/WND (doctor) items

17) Compared to others on your server, are your prices low, high, or mid-level? Probably high..but I offer so much more, including a very quick turnaround time. I also totally customize my clothes...

18) Do you use the bazaar ever? Yes..I keep the bazaar stocked at all times and most importantly with a an auctioned item with my waypoint and info on my business.

19) How do you advertise your shop? Yes..on the bazaar

20) How do you perceive your workload? Heavy

21) Is there too little competition? Too much? Healthy competition...keeps us all on our toes..however when I saw a local tailor selling Robes of Honor for 4k I about had a fit...LOL

22) Have you limited your customer base? If so, how? Never...I am constantly expanding.

23) What is your returns policy? I'll trade out anything for anyone as long as I'm the original creator and the item isn't damaged. If it's damaged then I will give them a discount towards something new.

24) What is your discount policy? Word of mouth, mentions on the forums, etc...I pretty much comp them an item or two. If it's a repeat customer, I always try to throw in shoes/jewelry, etc for free.

25) Do you take large custom orders? If so, what is the pricing? Pricing always varies regardless of the size based on what they want.

26) Do you take rush jobs? If so, what is the pricing? Same as above.

27) Are you "off duty" at specified times? When I'm on my third character...I am off duty. =)

28) If you’re not taking orders from the general public, do you make exceptions for friends/guildmates? n/a

29) Do you take orders "on the fly" at starports? I take them whenever they're requested...if I have time I will gladly help them out..if I'm otw somewhere or rushed then I have them email the order and I allow them to pick it up or get it delivered for them.

30) When do you put your tailor tag up? always unless I'm deep in work and getting massive tellhell

31) What other professions do you have with your tailor character? Why did you pick this particular combo? MT/Master Merch/Master Artisan

32) Do you have an alt? Same server or different server? Which profession(s)? Same Server, 2 alts, 1 Master Musician/Master Dancer, 1 Master Brawler/Scout that's going up the TK/Fencer lines (and losing Scout hehe)

33) What do you consider to be your primary profession (including alts)? Is your tailor your main? Tailor is my main.

34) How much of your time is spent tailoring or otherwise dealing with tailoring business (as opposed to doing other activities with your tailor character or an alt). 50 percent or more of my time is spent tailoring.

35) Do you take part in the GCW with your tailor character?

36) Do you live in a player city? Are you in a guild? Are these beneficial? I live in Freedom Forge on Naboo (Tempest). It is a very large player city FULL of artisans of all types. Besides being very well laid out, the city itself is choc full of vendors so I never have to wander far for my needs. I have 3 vendors in a PA hall there as well.

Tailoring Poll

I thought it would be interesting to see the business practices and thoughts of the posters on this forum:

And I should probably answer my own poll...

1) What level tailor are you

Master

2) How long have you been a tailor?

Since day 1 (errwell day 3 because I was out of town onrelease day)- master since end of august.

3) What made you decide to be a tailor?

I originally wanted to be a pure entertainer, but then I saw all the cool outfits (during my weeklong stint in beta) and I was hooked. I had already decided no to combat.

4) What keeps you interested in being a tailor?

The reaction of people who are truly appreciative that, day or night, they can find almost everything on the vendor. I like being creative, and at halloween I made a house full of costumes - I got a lot of comments from people who had never even bought anything at my shop.

5) Have you ever quit tailoring for a while, or are you thinking about quitting? If so, why?

I've never quit. I did take a break during exams for obvious reasons. I knew I couldn't keep up, so I just put it on hold, without exception, or I would have made myself nutty.

6) Do you do custom orders, vendor sales or both? Which do you prefer?

I do 99% vendor sales. Occasionally guildies ask me for custom orders, but mostly people find what they're looking for and don't need to do custom orders. I think they like browsing.

7) How do you normally handle custom orders? E-mail? Distribution by custom order backpack? In person, on the spot?

For guildies, many of them have admin to my house, so I just drop the goods in the basement for them to take. I've done backpacks a few times. To be honest, usually someone emails me with "I want a blue fleshwrap" and I tell him/her that one is already on the vendor.

8) Do you buy resources or do your own mining?

Both. Because my fiance is an armorsmith, often all our lots are used up mining something really rare or good for him, and I'll buy a stack of whatever I need. It makes no sense paying for crappy materials, but oh well. I have to make a lot of panels for his armor too.

9) If you have a vendor, where is it located? Player city? Mall? Style of house?

Medium Naboo house, player city.

10) Do you own your own vendor or contract with a merchant?

Master merchant alt.I used to contract with a merchant but he quit the game - which was fine becuase we were having creative differences, so to speak.

11) How many vendors do you have? How do you organize the clothes?

6 vendors: 1 for armor, 1 for vehicles, etc - 4 clothes. accessories/shoes, female only, formal/slinky, casual/field. Probably going to move the accessories in favor of BE when I get tissues.

12) How many items do you keep on your vendor?

Now: 1100 counting the 120 or so that dropped to stock last night (grrr)

13) Do you specialize in certain types of clothes? Certain colors?

I've shifted to a lot more dancing/formal clothes than field gear, because the town I'm living in seems to be obcessed with hotpants. Cater to your audience. I've also started carrying orange (yuck) because a couple of guildies have decided they love it. I don't do jewelry, and I won't until they fix the necklace bug.

14) How do you name your clothes? With your name on it? Color?

Item name (color). I used to put my name at the end but I ended up misspelling it more often than not, and I really keep too much stock for any superfluous typing. I have enough business. For BE stuff I usually put +13 blah blah item name (color).

15) Do you do bioengineered clothing? Do you deal with multiple bioengineers?

Right now I wouldn't do BE clothing if I didn't have a BE friend. He just moved out to my town, so I'm waiting for him to be back in production, and then I'll make it again. I used to give him a sales commission, but it's driving me nuts, so I'm just going to pay him for the crates now.

16) How do you deal with bioengineered clothing? Custom orders? Vendor sales? Which “stock items” sell out?

Because I don't have a steady supply, I'm not making BE clothing right now. Before I had a vendor, and I kept back some tissues for custom orders. Generally formfitting undershirts, camos, and dusters sell very well in BE.

17) Compared to others on your server, are your prices low, high, or mid-level?

I would say mid to high. And I'm not changing it. For the effort of keeping over 1000 items in stock, I deserve it!

18) Do you use the bazaar ever?

I did when I was leveling to master, and when I first moved to Talus to let people know where I was.

19) How do you advertise your shop?

I don't. When I moved from Talus to Dantooine, I was a bit concerned about business, but it hasn't really slacked. After I stocked, I turned on planetary map for a week, and emailed about 3 people. Planetary map is off now, and I still have good sales.

20) How do you perceive your workload?

I've stopped advertising, and I think my workload is about where I want it. Lots of tailoring, still.

21) Is there too little competition? Too much?

Too little! Actually, I had more sales and less competition on Talus, I was the only tailor on the entire planet, and was a 500 credit shuttle ride from Coronet. But now, there are a few tailors around, I think. More importantly, people expect to go off-planet for clothes on Dantooine, so they're not looking for me.

22) Have you limited your customer base? If so, how?

Just by not advertising. I think moving to Dantooine also limited my customers just by location.

23) What is your returns policy?

Depends. If it's just one thing, and it was just bought, I'll take it back no questions asked, even at full price. But I don't take back things that are damaged, old, by another tailor or priced higher than I sold it for *boggle*.

24) What is your discount policy?

I don't do a guild discount because my guild is just too large and I don't want to be called out to make something that's on my vendor already. It's just not practical.

25) Do you take large custom orders? If so, what is the pricing?

Nope. Yuck. Maybe for the right person, but usually - nope.

26) Do you take rush jobs? If so, what is the pricing?

If it's someone I know and a true emergency. I've been soured since the "George Lucas is marrying us" ruse.

27) Are you “off duty” at specified times?

I do a "last call for alcohol" in guild chat, and then I dump my supplies. After that they're on their own.

28) If you’re not taking orders from the general public, do you make exceptions for friends/guildmates?

After last call, I don't do orders, unless it's a dire emergency, and the person wasn't online when I did last call.

29) Do you take orders “on the fly” at starports?

No no no no no!

30) When do you put your tailor tag up?

I have a tailor tag? Oh yah, I saw that in August.

31) What other professions do you have with your tailor character? Why did you pick this particular combo?

Image Designer & entertainer. Image design was really my true first love with tailoring to compliment it, so really the tailor was more to go with ID than the other way around. Entertainer because I love hanging out in the cantina.

32) Do you have an alt? Same server or different server? Which profession(s)?

My fiance and I share an alt - Armorsmith, artisan, merchant. I do all the merchanting, and the fiance does the armorsmithing.

33) What do you consider to be your primary profession (including alts)? Is your tailor your main?

My tailor is my main. In terms of primary it flip-flops. One week I'm doing ID right and left and the next week it's all about tailoring. I think on my server I'm more well-known for ID but spend more actual in-game time tailoring.

34) How much of your time is spent tailoring or otherwise dealing with tailoring business (as opposed to doing other activities with your tailor character or an alt).

Ugh, a lot. A LOT! 70% of my time, including vendor crap.

35) Do you take part in the GCW with your tailor character?

Eew no. I recently went neutral again. Ahhh how nice.

36) Do you live in a player city? Are you in a guild? Are these beneficial?

Yes and yes and yes. It really depends on the player city/guild though. They really go all out to find me hides and whatnot, and that really helps. Usually, though, crafters do end up getting taken advantage of in guilds, so I have to lay down the law occasionally about timing of special orders.

On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being not bothersome, and 10 as something that annoys you intensely, rate the following:

Yeah yeah, most of these things really really bother me: if they didn't, I wouldn't have thought to list them.

1) What level tailor are you
Master
2) How long have you been a tailor?
A long time... I'll say 5 to 6 months
3) What made you decide to be a tailor?
I could never find a decently stocked tailor shop and buying mismatched clothing from the bazaar
just wasn't cool.
4) What keeps you interested in being a tailor?
I like being able to make my own clothes and I like creating new looks for people. When they
don't know what they want, I provide them with options, example, etc. And sometimes, I even
surprise myself.
5) Have you ever quit tailoring for a while, or are you thinking about quitting? If so, why?
No.
6) Do you do custom orders, vendor sales or both? Which do you prefer?
I keep a well stocked vendor, I sell clothes on the bazaar, and I do custom orders. My vendor
is my showroom, the bazaar is marketing, and custom orders are often fun.
7) How do you normally handle custom orders? E-mail? Distribution by custom order backpack? In person, on the spot?
I usually start with an e-mail and then depending on the customer, we have a fitting session.
After that I will place items on my Special Orders vendor or face to face trade. I have not
used backpacks.
8) Do you buy resources or do your own mining?
My friends and I collect resources.
9) If you have a vendor, where is it located? Player city? Mall? Style of house?
Small Tatooine House (1812 -4747), Traveler's Respite, Tatooine, Sunrunner
10) Do you own your own vendor or contract with a merchant?
I am a Master Merchant.
11) How many vendors do you have? How do you organize the clothes?
I currently have 1 clothing vendor, 1 special orders, 1 odds and ends, and 1 food vendor.
12) How many items do you keep on your vendor?
My clothing vendor has well over 500. I don't know for certain.
13) Do you specialize in certain types of clothes? Certain colors?
I make the clothes that I think "look" good. Some of the schematics are just ugly, but even
so I ocassionally discover a new use for something and then change my mind about it.
14) How do you name your clothes? With your name on it? Color?
(Default Name), (color1)/(color2) (JAO) -- Where JAO is the name of my business.
15) Do you do bioengineered clothing? Do you deal with multiple bioengineers?
I have made BE clothing for my circle of friends (which includes a BE). I am advertising BE
clothing on a custom order basis.
16) How do you deal with bioengineered clothing? Custom orders? Vendor sales? Which “stock items” sell out?
Custom orders only. Why buy a style you don't want just for a bonus?
17) Compared to others on your server, are your prices low, high, or mid-level?
I have done little comparision. My bazaar prices seem to vary. Some are higher, some lower.
18) Do you use the bazaar ever?
Yes, with an advertisement in the notes section.
19) How do you advertise your shop?
Bazaar and Advertising 4. Also all of JAO's extractors include the waypoint.
20) How do you perceive your workload?
I make clothes when I feel like it. I receive some custom orders, but not an overwhelming amount.
21) Is there too little competition? Too much?
There are a number of Tailor's "around". My business is not hurting, but who knows how many people
go elsewhere.
22) Have you limited your customer base? If so, how?
Nope.
23) What is your returns policy?
In general I accept undamaged returns. Mostly I get people who buy something from the vendor and
either it is not wearable (i.e. gender or race specific) for them or they end up asking about a
custom fitting.
24) What is your discount policy?
I have no standing policy. I usually try to work with my customers if pricing is a problem.
25) Do you take large custom orders? If so, what is the pricing?
Not so far.
26) Do you take rush jobs? If so, what is the pricing?
Every one has been fairly good about allowing me to finish things in my own time; however,
I often complete an order as soon as I get it (so I don't forget things).
27) Are you “off duty” at specified times?
Only when I am /afk.
28) If you’re not taking orders from the general public, do you make exceptions for friends/guildmates?
N/A
29) Do you take orders “on the fly” at starports?
I do, assuming there is time before my flight otherwise I ask them to send me an email and I will
get back to them.
30) When do you put your tailor tag up?
I proudly display my Master Tailor tag all the time.
31) What other professions do you have with your tailor character? Why did you pick this particular combo?
I currently a Master Merchant and Master Artisan and I've begun a new hobby (armorsmithing).
32) Do you have an alt? Same server or different server? Which profession(s)?
I have many characters. I like making characters.
33) What do you consider to be your primary profession (including alts)? Is your tailor your main?
I would say that my main character/profession is my Tailor. I have definitely spent the most time
on him.
34) How much of your time is spent tailoring or otherwise dealing with tailoring business (as opposed to doing other activities with your tailor character or an alt).
Hard to say. I spend about 2 hours a day with my tailoring character... sometimes more.
35) Do you take part in the GCW with your tailor character?
No, I just make sure everyone looks nice when they clone.
36) Do you live in a player city? Are you in a guild? Are these beneficial?
I am in a player city but not a member of a PA, although I run with a close circle of friends,
so technically we are a player association w/o PA Hall. I couldn't do it w/o my friends.

I thought it would be interesting to see the business practices and thoughts of the posters on this forum:

1) What level tailor are you
Master Tailor

2) How long have you been a tailor?
Since, oh, first week or two the game went Live?

3) What made you decide to be a tailor?
Largely, accident. When testing crafting stuff for the first time in Beta just for completeness' sake, I found that I actually rather liked it, and especially liked making clothing as opposed to the engineer-type crafting.

4) What keeps you interested in being a tailor?
No one thing in particular. I'm still having fun, I guess is the answer.

5) Have you ever quit tailoring for a while, or are you thinking about quitting? If so, why?
Not for any serious length of time, though occasionally I've spent a couple days away from the game, or playing my more combat-oriented character on another server. Now, the only thing that makes me think about quitting is the upcoming vendor nerf, if it's as devastating as I fear it will be.

6) Do you do custom orders, vendor sales or both? Which do you prefer?
Both. I enjoy both, also. I'd hate to be limited to just one sales channel. I would say that I especially enjoy having a well-stocked vendor, and figuring out what to put on it.

7) How do you normally handle custom orders? E-mail? Distribution by custom order backpack? In person, on the spot?
It varies - I generally like to "ultimately" make the clothes in person, unless the customer has an exceptionally clear notion of what they want (and many do.)

8) Do you buy resources or do your own mining?
I currently buy everything except for one small harvester's output of chem, metal, or energy, as the case may be. (Reminds me, I need to check that thing!)

9) If you have a vendor, where is it located? Player city? Mall? Style of house?
Large Corellian/Generic house, in an unincorporated small settlement about 1300m south of Kor Vella Star Port.

10) Do you own your own vendor or contract with a merchant?
Own.

11) How many vendors do you have? How do you organize the clothes?
Two (I could have three, but don't.) I put all my clothing in one vendor, all my "non-clothing" (basically, crated tailoring/armorsmith supplies, packs, and miscellany) in another.

12) How many items do you keep on your vendor?
Ideally, it'd be about 1300. In practice, it fluctuates between 600 and 1100 or thereabouts.

13) Do you specialize in certain types of clothes? Certain colors?
Not especially.

14) How do you name your clothes? With your name on it? Color?
Standard naming convention = [Brand] [Item Name] - [coded Color]. E.g. "Kicky Ribbed Shirt - BlkXBlu" would be a Ribbed Shirt in Black with trim in my "Xtreme Blue" color.

15) Do you do bioengineered clothing? Do you deal with multiple bioengineers?
Yes. Yes, though not really by choice, more that it's hard to find a steady supplier.

16) How do you deal with bioengineered clothing? Custom orders? Vendor sales? Which “stock items” sell out?
Almost entirely custom orders.

17) Compared to others on your server, are your prices low, high, or mid-level?
I think they're about average, though not across the board. (I think my prices on "low-end" stuff are slightly above average, and my "mid-range" stuff slightly below, and my "high-end" stuff about average.)

18) Do you use the bazaar ever?
Yes, though sporadically lately. I try to at the very least keep "advertising" items in Corellia's major cities. Lately I've been experimenting with the bazaar as a "remainders" outlet, putting stuff up there that expires after 30 days on my vendor.

19) How do you advertise your shop?
Advertising-3 map ads, bazaar ads, e-mailing bazaar buyers, SWG forum signature.

20) How do you perceive your workload?
High, but manageable.

21) Is there too little competition? Too much?
Probably too little, though I'm not complaining. I sort of staked out a dominant position in Kor Vella's clothing market from Week One.

22) Have you limited your customer base? If so, how?
No, and I keep trying to get more customers, though not as aggressively as in the early days.

23) What is your returns policy?
I'll generally let people return stuff for full refund if it's undamaged and "very soon" after they bought it. (Definition of "very soon" may vary.) The issue doesn't come up a whole lot.

24) What is your discount policy?
I'll only discount for very close friends (or try to - most insist on paying full price!) Or people who are clearly newbies, I'll often cut a break and make them something simple but nice for cheap or nearly free, but strictly as a "one-time" deal.

25) Do you take large custom orders? If so, what is the pricing?
Yes. Pricing depends, usually full price, sometimes a 10-20% discount.

26) Do you take rush jobs? If so, what is the pricing?
Generally, no, but I tend to make stuff pretty promptly anyhow unless it's truly a "drop everything" kind of job. Regular price, generally.

27) Are you “off duty” at specified times?
Not specified.

28) If you’re not taking orders from the general public, do you make exceptions for friends/guildmates?
Probably, yeah.

29) Do you take orders “on the fly” at starports?
Depends, though usually I take off my tailor tag while travelling.

30) When do you put your tailor tag up?
Most of the time, exception being when I'm out in my "combat/hunting" mode.

31) What other professions do you have with your tailor character? Why did you pick this particular combo?
Merchant, Marksman, Pistoleer, Scout, Medic. Generally to make a well-rounded character who can be reasonably effective in combat, and fits my character's "self-reliant" independent image.

32) Do you have an alt? Same server or different server? Which profession(s)?
Seldom-used alt on a different server, consciously doing quite different professions (wanna-be Fencer/Rifleman)

33) What do you consider to be your primary profession (including alts)? Is your tailor your main?
Tailor. Yes.

34) How much of your time is spent tailoring or otherwise dealing with tailoring business (as opposed to doing other activities with your tailor character or an alt).
Hm. 75%, maybe?

35) Do you take part in the GCW with your tailor character?
Yes, often, but PvE only (at least that's my intention.)

36) Do you live in a player city? Are you in a guild? Are these beneficial?
No. No.

On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being not bothersome, and 10 as something that annoys you intensely, rate the following:

( 4) the white-secondary-color bug

Tailoring Poll

I thought it would be interesting to see the business practices and thoughts of the posters on this forum:

1) What level tailor are you

Master

2) How long have you been a tailor?

Let's see...I think since September 2003. I started in August, and became a Tailor about 3 weeks later.

3) What made you decide to be a tailor?

I like to craft. At first I hated the idea that you had to spend skill points on crafting, but now I really like the crafting system in this game. I started as a dancer, and always liked trying on new outfits.

4) What keeps you interested in being a tailor?

I dunno. I like to craft, I like how many options you have with tailoring. It's not like in my old game where everyone's items looked exactly the same. I think it's just the possibilities that makes me love tailoring.

5) Have you ever quit tailoring for a while, or are you thinking about quitting? If so, why?

I am thinking about quitting if the vendor cap goes in and is too low. I don't want to drop all my combat skills to becom a tailor/merchant. I have over 1800 items and I'm not even halfway done stocking items yet.

6) Do you do custom orders, vendor sales or both? Which do you prefer?

Both. I prefer vendor sales, because it can be hard to get that exact color or know what item the customer means (they don't always want to look at a website).

7) How do you normally handle custom orders? E-mail? Distribution by custom order backpack? In person, on the spot?

Varies. I don't get too many, as I'm not advertising yet (not done stocking)

8) Do you buy resources or do your own mining?

My own mining (and hide harvesting)

9) If you have a vendor, where is it located? Player city? Mall? Style of house?

PA Hall (mall)

10) Do you own your own vendor or contract with a merchant?

Own 5 of my own (and am going to have a 6th soon, once I start with BE clothes).

11) How many vendors do you have? How do you organize the clothes?

5 - Bargain Bin, Casual Wear, Formal Wear, Field Wear, Themed Outfits, Enhanced Clothing (comin soon)

12) How many items do you keep on your vendor?

Currently, 1800+. When I'm done...probably close to 5k

13) Do you specialize in certain types of clothes? Certain colors?

I don't really specialize, but I seem to sell the most of blacks, whites, gemstone colors (sapphire, emerald, etc), and metallic colors (Gold, Copper, etc.).

14) How do you name your clothes? With your name on it? Color?

I put the Item name, mall name, and color, like: Long Leather Gloves .:Imperium:. Black (makes it much easier to restock, as the item name is in the email)

15) Do you do bioengineered clothing? Do you deal with multiple bioengineers?

I will probably go through my guildmate who is going to makea BE soon.

16) How do you deal with bioengineered clothing? Custom orders? Vendor sales? Which “stock items” sell out?

Not there yet, but I was planning on putting popular colors (probably just black and white) on the vendor, then taking custom orders for the rest.

17) Compared to others on your server, are your prices low, high, or mid-level?

Very low

18) Do you use the bazaar ever?

Yes, but not lately, as I just hit master and am crafting up a frenzy stocking my vendors

19) How do you advertise your shop?

When I advertise, I use the bazaar. Our mall also plans on posting on the server boards when all the crafters are ready.

20) How do you perceive your workload?

Sometimes I'll have a ton of stuff sold when I log in, sometimes I'll have sold nothing. It's never so bad that I can't handle it.

21) Is there too little competition? Too much?

I don't really look into the competition much. I'm there to make clothes, not to be the most popular person that makes clothes.

22) Have you limited your customer base? If so, how?

Nope. Unless you count the guy that couldn't wait 30 seconds for me to answer his question as I was in the middle of fighting, whom I put on my ignore list.

23) What is your returns policy?

If they want to return an item, they just need to offer it back up for the same price they purchased it for, or trade it back to me if I'm there. I've never refused to take an item back, even on custom orders.

24) What is your discount policy?

I used to make grab bags I would put up on the bazaar, and I would include a coupon good for 10% off all clothing purchases on one date on my clothing vendors, but no one ever used them so I've stopped making them. I give discounts to guildmates (usually just give them stuff for free), but we're a really close guild.

25) Do you take large custom orders? If so, what is the pricing?

Haven't had one come up yet

26) Do you take rush jobs? If so, what is the pricing?

I've had a few "make me something before the shuttle comes" orders, if that's what you mean. I priced the same as usual.

27) Are you “off duty” at specified times?

Haven't had a problem yet with customers bothering me. If I do get to that point, I will probably go afk with a message explaining I'm not currently taking orders.

28) If you’re not taking orders from the general public, do you make exceptions for friends/guildmates?

Have yet to not take orders . If I were to, it would depend on how burned out I was. If I was really burned out, I wouldn't make anything for guildmates or friends, either. If I was just sorta burned out, I probably would.

29) Do you take orders “on the fly” at starports?

Yes

30) When do you put your tailor tag up?

Right now, most of the time, except when I go to major cities like Theed or Corellia. Not many people come out to Keren, these days, so I don't think many people see me.

31) What other professions do you have with your tailor character? Why did you pick this particular combo?

Pistoleer, Merchant, Scout. Let's see, I started as a dancer/pistoleer. Ended up not liking the entertainer clientel too much, but loved pistoleer. I also picked up scout to be able to harvest biological resources. Picked up Merchant so I could have some vendors, I'm only going to 0/0/0/4.

32) Do you have an alt? Same server or different server? Which profession(s)?

Not at this time.

33) What do you consider to be your primary profession (including alts)? Is your tailor your main?

Tailor/Pistoleer

34) How much of your time is spent tailoring or otherwise dealing with tailoring business (as opposed to doing other activities with your tailor character or an alt).

Right now, most of the time, around 80%. I just play it by ear...if I get sick of crafting, I go shoot stuff

35) Do you take part in the GCW with your tailor character?

I used to before death decay was added. I am imperial, so I'm technically still participating, but all I do right now is the occasional faction mission.

36) Do you live in a player city? Are you in a guild? Are these beneficial?

No to player city, yes to guild. The guild is great, but we've been together for several years and have always helped one another out in all of our games. I've yet to see a guild as close as this one.

1) What level tailor are you
Master
2) How long have you been a tailor?
Middle of July-ish
3) What made you decide to be a tailor?
Just seemed like the most fun profession to me when I got a look at the game
4) What keeps you interested in being a tailor?
I have a sordid love affair with clothing, can't live without it!
5) Have you ever quit tailoring for a while, or are you thinking about quitting? If so, why?
Nope
6) Do you do custom orders, vendor sales or both? Which do you prefer?
Both. Depends on the customers. I love helping people that genuinely care about what they want to look like.
7) How do you normally handle custom orders? E-mail? Distribution by custom order backpack? In person, on the spot?
I have a vendor set up for pick-up of custom orders if the person has emailed me.
It makes it easier for people to find their orders, too, as I usually have upwards of 500 items on my normal vendor.
8) Do you buy resources or do your own mining?
I do my own
9) If you have a vendor, where is it located? Player city? Mall? Style of house?
Currently outside of Bestine in a Medium Tat house. Eventually it will be moving to a PC in the middle of nowhere on Tat.
10) Do you own your own vendor or contract with a merchant?
I am a Master Merchant as well
11) How many vendors do you have? How do you organize the clothes?
I use one vendor for most of my sales, a second for custom orders
12) How many items do you keep on your vendor?
Usually around 500. When I have more time, I try and get more stuff on there.
The most I've ever had was 1000 or so items
13) Do you specialize in certain types of clothes? Certain colors?
Not really.
14) How do you name your clothes? With your name on it? Color?
I do Item in color by Aidace. I have a selection of colors that I have named,
and those are pretty much the only colors I craft in, unless it is special order
15) Do you do bioengineered clothing? Do you deal with multiple bioengineers?
I do BE clothing, my guild BE is my exclusive supplier
16) How do you deal with bioengineered clothing? Custom orders? Vendor sales? Which “stock items” sell out?
I do custom orders only for BE clothing
17) Compared to others on your server, are your prices low, high, or mid-level?
I think my prices are probably mid-level. My master level items go for around 6k
18) Do you use the bazaar ever?
Not for clothing, generally
19) How do you advertise your shop?
I had some ad items on the bazaar for most of my shops infancy, now I rely on the world map
20) How do you perceive your workload?
Lately, it's been pretty average. I think it could be more if i let it be though
21) Is there too little competition? Too much?
I really haven't noticed much competition. I know there are others in my area,
but I have my customer base, they must have theirs.
22) Have you limited your customer base? If so, how?
Not really
23) What is your returns policy?
I have to be consulted before something can be returned. If it's decayed, no way.
24) What is your discount policy?
I give guild discounts, and bulk discounts when asked nicely
25) Do you take large custom orders? If so, what is the pricing?
I've never taken an order that I would consider large.
But I would say my pricing would stay the same, unless asked for a discount.
26) Do you take rush jobs? If so, what is the pricing?
Never had anyone ask for something to be rushed
27) Are you “off duty” at specified times?
Nope
28) If you’re not taking orders from the general public, do you make exceptions for friends/guildmates?

29) Do you take orders “on the fly” at starports?
If I have the materials with me, yes
30) When do you put your tailor tag up?
I always have it up, but I am not searchable
31) What other professions do you have with your tailor character? Why did you pick this particular combo?
Tailor/Merchant/Artisan soon to be Weaponsmith. Seemed to be a nice compliment.
Adding the Weaponsmith at guildmates request
32) Do you have an alt? Same server or different server? Which profession(s)?
I have an alt that is purely combat. Pistoleer/Commando. On the same server
33) What do you consider to be your primary profession (including alts)? Is your tailor your main?
My tailor is my main
34) How much of your time is spent tailoring or otherwise dealing with tailoring business
(as opposed to doing other activities with your tailor character or an alt).
Probably 50%
35) Do you take part in the GCW with your tailor character?
I am factioned for RP and guild purposes.
Until I can craft some sort of clothing for use as a weapon, that is
36) Do you live in a player city? Are you in a guild? Are these beneficial?
I am guilded and live in a PC. They are mostly just for socializing

( 7 ) the white-secondary-color bug

Interesting. My alt is climbing the carbineer tree as well. Since we're on the same sever we should hunt sometime

1) I am a Master Tailor.
2) Since June. (A week or two into live.)
3) I didn't see too many people making clothing, and it seemed like a good way to make money.
4) I like to make my own clothes.
5) I have quit taking orders for weeks at a time, though even then I tried to keep something in the vendor.
6) I will do custom orders, though I only like to do them in person and when I'm in the mood to do them. Otherwise it's all vendor.
7) E-Mail and put on my vendor. (I only have one nowadays.)
8) I mine it all myself, except for hides where I either get them from my PA buddies or organize Bantha Hunts.
9) In our PA hall in a Player City, with a couple other vendors.
10, 11) I have one vendor. I expect my customers to know how to use the categories or the Next and Previous buttons.
12) It has varied over time. Nowadays I mostly build outfits.
13) As mentioned in 12, I like to make prefab outfits.
14) Originally I used "item name by Alcen Eiron". Now I use just item name, color, and mods, like "Muscle Shirt (white/green)" or "Endor Rebel Soldier Pants (+15 bleed)". I've never used #RRGGBB in item names.
15, 16) I have a small supply of BE items from when another member of my PA was a BE. I've been saving them for my PA members, though I do put a few up for sale from time to time. They go on my vendor with all my other items.
17) Probably high. I still use Nivea's old price list after all this time.
18) All the time. Oh, to sell clothes? Only when I want to get rid of something that's sat in my vendor for a while, or advertise.
19) I don't do much advertising now. When I did advertise a lot I would put items up for Auction on the Bazaar.
20) What workload?
21) No clue.
22) My prices might limit my customer base.
23) If it hasn't decayed, put it back on my vendor for the purchase price and I'll buy it back no questions asked. Been my policy since I finally got a house and a vendor back in July.
24) I give my PA buddies a discount. That's about it.
25) I haven't had anyone send me an actual order.
26) Rush jobs? Hah! That's funny!
27) I haven't specified any times for me to be off or on duty.
28) You can always email me an order, though I'm more responsive for my friends.
29) Like while waiting for a shuttle? There's not enough time to make more than an item or two and still travel. I do the Wandering Tailor thing occasionally.
30) At parties and while doing Wandering Tailor duty. Sometimes I'll put it up in hunting groups, especially if I'm busy making a new outfit for that day's shooting.
31) Tailor/Carbineer/Entertainer is my current combo. (Entertainer is what I've been working on for my FS slot.)
32) I have a spare character on Bria I play once in a great while. She's working towards Teras Kasi.
33) Tailor. After all the work I did to get there (no crafting macros!) I really don't want to give it up.
34) Probably a fifth of my in-game time.
35) I haven't been doing much of anything but half-heartedly working towards the FS slot.
36) Yes and yes. I think the guild's beneficial if only that it gives my friends and I a chat channel to talk in. Crafting wise, Player Cities are better for classes that have experimentation. You could just as easily put up a shop anywhere around Coronet or Theed.

On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being not bothersome, and 10 as something that annoys you intensely, rate the following:
( 1 ) the white-secondary-color bug
( 4 ) Lack of new schematics
( 5 ) Lack of schematics of items that exist in game
( 1 ) Tell hell
( 8 ) The upcoming vendor limits
( 1 ) The lack of a feature that would make you invisible on friends lists

( 10 ) Necklace bug (I was there when you could see necklaces. Why has this taken so long to fix?)
( 7 ) Corellian house design
( NA ) Merchant tent size
( 5 ) Lack of lighting options
( 7 ) Inability to customize vendors (Should be an ID skill.)
( 1 ) The display model is always female both in the vendor and on the walls
( 5 ) Items which have restrictions do not have warning labels (i.e. female-only) (I try to put warning labels on them, but I often forget.)
( 1 ) Sockets on backpacks non-functional
( 6 ) Certain gloves don’t work with jackets
( 5 ) Dresses can’t be worn with cloaks or jackets
( 5 ) There are no tank tops
( 4 ) Non-socketing of certain items

( 1 ) BE crated tissues in the same slot don’t stack
( 7 ) Lack of reinforced fiber panels in most items and no item with 2 rfp slots

( NA ) Male twi’lek underpants head

NA - This usually means I haven't seen or experienced the issue.

12) How many items do you keep on your vendor? I try for 300+ on the main vendor. Whatever I can make on the bio clothes one.

13) Do you specialize in certain types of clothes? Certain colors? nope, I make all kinds of clothes

14) How do you name your clothes? With your name on it? Color? I put my name at the end, and sometimes I name certain color schemes.

15) Do you do bioengineered clothing? Do you deal with multiple bioengineers? yes I do bio clothes. I have an axclusive contract with one bio engineer.

16) How do you deal with bioengineered clothing? Custom orders? Vendor sales? Which “stock items” sell out? Mostly only vendor sales, keeping tissue in stock for custom can be annoying, but if asked nice I do take custom bio-clothes orders. Medical has been selling like hotcakes lately, along with melee/stun protection.

17) Compared to others on your server, are your prices low, high, or mid-level? Porbably a bit higher, but I frequently find other shops disappear.

18) Do you use the bazaar ever? Rarely, only on whim

19) How do you advertise your shop? My customers seem to do that for me alot but the vendor is registered

20) How do you perceive your workload? it really varies, some days too much, other days are fine.

21) Is there too little competition? Too much? Right now I think it is about right.

22) Have you limited your customer base? If so, how? I haven't really.

23) What is your returns policy? I will take returns if I am there and the item isn't damaged. Mostly people don't ask to.

24) What is your discount policy? I rarely change prices, but sometimes give a bit off to my nicest customers.

25) Do you take large custom orders? If so, what is the pricing? I take large custom orders if it an interesting order (same price as usual), and would take a large boring order if I was overpaid (but those types of customers don't seem to come to my shop)

26) Do you take rush jobs? If so, what is the pricing? I usually can't guarantee rush jobs, those people usually go elsewhere.

27) Are you “off duty” at specified times? not particulary.

28) If you’re not taking orders from the general public, do you make exceptions for friends/guildmates? not in a guild, and my friends don't bug me for clothes if I am busy

29) Do you take orders “on the fly” at starports? sometimes

30) When do you put your tailor tag up? almost never

31) What other professions do you have with your tailor character? Why did you pick this particular combo? I am also a master chef, master artisan, with a few points in merchant. I like crafting.

32) Do you have an alt? Same server or different server? Which profession(s)? I have a musician on a different server.

33) What do you consider to be your primary profession (including alts)? Is your tailor your main? I guess my tailor is my main.

34) How much of your time is spent tailoring or otherwise dealing with tailoring business (as opposed to doing other activities with your tailor character or an alt). hmm never kept track really.

35) Do you take part in the GCW with your tailor character? I am a poor defenseless rebel

36) Do you live in a player city? Are you in a guild? Are these beneficial? I am not in a guild, and though I would have liked to be in a player city,

I don't want to change my lot arrangement which includs sharing a house I can't declare residence in.
