Giving stuff away just sets a really bad precidence for so many reasons. Oh well, do as you like. When I was a 0-0-0-0 tailor, and clueless about what sold and what didn't, that was my big seller. In the right circumstances I was able to sell 4-5 of those a day for 1k each which made a big difference to me at the time.

Back to your original question. Actually military backs are bad for grinding for several other reasons as well (in addition to giving less xp). Unlike ribbed shirts, they contain 3 materials instead of 2. More clicks = more time. Secondly, they require hide, which although is hardly scarce, is certainly a lot more expensive to grind through than fiberplast and metal, which you can aquire simply by putting 2 harvesters down.

Hehe yes i've now realised that about making shirts, but thnx... didn't know giving stuff away for free was such a touchy subject but i kinda see your points..i can't wait till i get master tbh.. creative possibilitiesseem huge

There was a period of time that I guess lots of people were wearing my clothes because I remember one night I was restocking my vendors because everything had dropped (just putting stuff back up from the stockroom, not crafting) and I got about 3k or so exp while I was sitting there. I heard they have to be on the same planet for it to work, and there was a period of time that my stuff was selling very well on the bazaar after publish 5 that I was out hunting all day and didn't see my exp bar move once (I knew the exact amount I started with that day), so I was certain they had stealth nerfed it. But then a few weeks later I happened to have my cursor over my exp bar when it moved on its own, so I'm not sure what was up with that.

I never thought you would kill the profession. I just wouldn't like you to set a bad precedent that causes you and other people on your server problems. I give away or practically give away clothes to newbies all the time, but I always make them pay *something* for them. There are too many people who think that since non-enhanced clothing doesn't actually do anything for them that we should give them away for free. After all, they are just useless fluff and they could just as well fight in their underwear. Its good to stop this attitude early and let people know that they won't be getting things they want for free all the time. I usually tell them that they should run a few missions to get some small amount of money (I usually ask for 500-1500 credits) so that they can make some money and get XP to level up at the same time. I then make them a nice outfit out of inexpensive clothes. So far no one has refused or said it was unfair.

Come to think of it, I have even done things like this for enhanced clothes. There was a very nice dancer who just started playing the game and wanted enhanced clothes to help her out. I told her that I wouldn't give it away for free, but I made her a nice fashionably pleated skirt. Since by alt Eimi is a bioengineer as well as an image designer, logged on as her, found some junk materials I had laying around, grabbed a few eggs from the gnort lair outside and made a piece of +12 enhanced myoflex (not very good stuff) and then logged back on as Momoko and threw into the skirt. When the dancer had earned enough to pay my regular non-enhanced price I brought it to her. She really appreciated it and I didn't feel like someone was trying to take advantage of me.
