Thread: I feel so... naughty...
To be honest, I like earning credits, but I've got enough to live on and maintain harvesters no matter how cataclysmic a resource shift we have. And I got there almost exclusively through cloaks. Quite literally, once I hit Casual 3, I decided to pick up tier 1 in everything, then finish Casual4, before slowly making my way up Field and Formal. Literally for two or three weeks I sold nothing but cloaks on the bazaar. I rarely get traffic to my vendor as I didn't really push it much. In this three week period, my bank balance just kept going up daily, until I hit about 150 000cr (even after buying a factory and small house).
Anyway, to my point. I started out selling for 1500cr. They'd be gone before I could finish putting them up. So now I'm selling at 2000k on Naboo. Prices are higher in the "big" planets like Tatooine and Corellia.
I've had two people complain about my prices. One was a "no clothes should cost more than 150cr" dumbass, and the other was a Tailor in the market next to me that asked me to raise my price a bit! I'm no fool, one got the brushoff and I accomadated the other's request. (You guess which one got which.)
If I put cloaks on the bazaar for 2.5k cr, they're gone fast. But yeah, the market is getting saturated, because lots of tailors sold boatloads of black cloaks. And they dont decay...
Price per credit makes sense to help gauge a minimum. It doesn't make sense to sell something for less than what you could get for the resources needed for the final product.
You should raise prices to what people are willing to pay though.

To sum up the whole issue, as I had a painful experience yesterday with someone complainig to every tailor in the area about Master items prices (I sell complex master items at 10k and simple master items at 3k).
Every new players 5 minutes after getting off from the tutorial ship with a basic surveying tool can make some macro, sample ressources, and sell stacks at 5c or 6c (sometimes more) per unit (granted, many advanced artisans have arrangements to get ressources in bulk at much more reasonable prices, but those prices are common in the commodity market. And they DO sell at this price).
If we sold master items at 2 or 3k, we would match this pricing scheme (not counting the need for multiple types of ressources and multiples of varied factory component). So, now, just tell me ... If we follow this logic, what is the point, at all, of investing time, money, effort, and precious skill points (apart from the obvious "because it is fun and I like it response"
of course, just looking at the financial aspect) into reaching master in an advanced artisan profession ? We are not selling bag of ressources. We are not selling crates of iron. We are selling a finished, high end product.
The killing blow was that the guy was perfectly comfortable with the pricing scheme of weaponsmiths (I am too by the way
Not playing the devil's advocate at all). His reasoning was that "but weaponsmiths have to use a lot of specific ressources". Which is true. However, it explains the high cost of the elite guns ... but I have seen weaponsmiths sell fully optmized scout blasters for more than I sell a fleshwrap for. And I think it is worth it ![]()
Hehehe I just make things an depend on who I'm selling to thats what I price. I give my clothes away free to friends. Anything with factory components I have to sell higher since I do not have a factory
. In the last 2 days I went from having Field Wear 3 and Tailoring 1 to having Field Wear 4, Tailoring 4 and Casual 2. I currently buy my resources to grind so I could factor that into my pricing
. Dusters an Reinforced jackets I usually sell for 3k or so. The lesser items that don't require components I usually sell for resource price.
I just gave away 3 out fits to my favorite cantina dancer(on top of tipping her 15k today). They credits flow nicely so play nice
