God, I hate pricing threads, I don't even know why I'm replying to this.

I don't price it per skill mod point, I price it per level of the tissue, it's more consistent that way. After all, not all skills level at equal rates. +4 is a pretty remarkable bonus do Melee Defense, but a pretty mediocre one to Mask Scent.

Right now, I'm paying my bioengineer friends 250 credits per level of the tissue, so since everything I have in stock is Tissues II, I paid 500 credits per tissue. Obviously that won't apply to Enhanced Myoflex, unless I bring the eggs. In all likelihood, I will end up paying more than that for level IV and master tissues - or maybe not, because somebody just brought me some tissues to incorporate into his jacket and he told me he paid 900 credits per for master level tissues- admittedly, to another member of his PA.

I double the tissue price when I includeone (or more)in an item and sell it, to cover my travel expenses, factory costs, and a reasonable markup. So, for example, my best selling item is a Medic's Shirt +4 (Muscle Shirt w/ Passive Biosensors) in mint green, powder blue, or pale gray (think "scrubs"). It sells for 1300 credits. Since I normally sell the unenhanced t-shirt for 300 credits, I guess that comes out to 250 credits per +1 to both skills, or if you want to think of it the other way, +125 per +1 to each skill, however you want to figure it.

Sounds as though there's a lot of variation.

I charge 500cr times the total bonuses (not averages), so a +15/+15 piece of enhanced myoflex cloth runs 15000, plus the cost of the clothes. If it takes two panels, I halve the cost of the second one (if I'm making a leotard or something), since it confers no additional bonuses to the clothes. That would make the total cost on a leotard (for which I charge 10k normally) 32500.

Sounds as though I'm well on the low side, but I don't make much of this, anyway. I only do it by special order, and I'm fortunate in having good BE tissue suppliers who only charge me 3k or so on the non-milk tissues. That means I'm still charging 5x my cost on the myoflex, which is one of the rarer tissues, and even taking into account an occasional costly failureI'm making a healthy profit.

I got rich making unenhanced clothing back in the day and do this stuff mostly as a courtesy for my customers. I don't need to keep piling even more millions into my bank account.

I'm probably on the less expensive side, but I don't sell a lot of it.. and I'm trying to not do custom orders. The tissues run me 2.2-3.8K credits each (for master level +13 to +15), and I sell the finished product for 7500 per panel used (8500 for the melee ones since those are the more expensive tissues). I make out better on some things than others.. camos usually sell for 2950, so for 7500 I'm pretty much justcovering the cost of the tissue. A muscle shirt I do better on, since those sell for 750 ordinarily. I've had a few failures making the items, so who knows if I am even breaking even.

I'm selling these as a convenience more than anything else. I know others nearby charge more, but they also will do custom orders so they deserve the extra credits and then some. :-)

What do you guys charge for "BYO Bio" clothing? I.e., customer has already acquired tissue somehow and wants you to put it into an item of clothing for her? I'm figuring there should be *some* markup from a plain non-enhanced version of the item, but don't want to charge too much.

I still don't know, the only time it happened to me the guy wanted something requiring identical tissues so it got messy and he just bought from my vendor in the end.

I'm thinking I would just charge the price of the clothes without bonus.

My word people are intricate...2.4 x this and 75% of the cost of that. I just whack on a few k depending on my mood. Even give them for free sometimes. The exception is the creature handler ones which are pretty expensive and I won't give those away cheaply

Funny that I'm actually charging less than most people since my base price is probably one of the very highest. As long as I'm charging more than Brad though I'm happy, lol.

What I have settledon is: my (high) base cost of the clothing item + 5k for the first tissue (advanced) + 2k per additional tissue.

So bustier for me would be 2k + 5k + 2k = 11k

Gunman's duster would be 5k + 5k + 3x2k = 16k

Spec ops duster with 2 different bonuses would be 3k + 5k + 2x 2k = 12k

I absolutely hate doing this. Bah. Takes tons of time, and often requires me to do a factory run of cloth with their tissues in them, then have to make the clothes, explain critical fails etc. etc. I did this once, charged 5k surcharge in addition to the base price of the clothing, and it wasn't even close to worth the effort it required. He did tip me an additional 5k or so, but I probably won't be willing to do this again, just too much hassle particularly when you have your own tissues, even if the customer's are better (which was the case the one time I did it).

"When you have your own tissues" being the operative phrase. I've had a terrible time trying to develop a steady Bio-Engineer supply source - everybody I talk to seems to disappear....

So "BYO Bio" clothes are the only Bio clothes I've actually sold thus far, and it is kind of a pain in the ass, but for me probably not all that much more of a pain than it will be when I have a supply. (I more or less intend to make bio stuff as "custom order only" clothing, since it's tough to predict what styles and colors people will want to enhance.)

I just charge full price per tissue needed... Can't afford to charge so few for the second one or I would have a very low margin, suppliers don't charge less for the second tissue And i have to deal with failures too bleh (happened on a 16 medic 15 MS bodysuit earlier I was happy ).

Hmm again, supply and demand. My BE is a guildmate, so he is charging me little more than cost (say 2k an enhancement). I think my most expensive item is 10k for a single type of stat, 15k for something that has both medical and scouting bonuses. Maybe that's low, but then, Starsider has an overabundance of tailors.

Songe,

It's not so muchdiscounting additional tissues, as it is charging more for the first one. After chosing what I thought was a fair "per tissue" price, factoring in a very healthy profit margin on that, what I found was that using the usual:

base clothing price + (# of tissues) * (value of tissue)

I was charging way way too little for items requiring just 1 cloth. After all, they did have a very high value to the customer, so why give them away at that price?

So instead, I just add in, call it a "skill modclothing charge", which essentially raises the "minimum" cost of all BE clothing items I make.

So another way of looking at my formula is just:

base clothing price + skill mod clothing charge + # tissues * value of tissue

In effect, it's just my way of making sure no skill mod clothing costs less than 5k.
