Thread: Is anyone else a little disappointed that tailors won't play a part in making Jedi robes?

Why don't they just introduce some new robes and cloaks that the tailor can make, allowing everyone to wear it. The catch is that only Jedis of the specific rank or class getthe hidden bonuses. Kind of like weapon certifications.

On the other hand, I guess it's better that the jedi will look unique.

I'd also like to push for jedi armor too...something like Obi-Wan's armor in Star Wars: Clone Wars, or like in KoToR(Knights of the Old Republic) where Light Jedi had skills that utilized the robe and Dark Jedi utilized armor best. Keep in mind, Obi-Wan wore a cloak over his armor too, so perhaps both eh?!

As it is now i'd say this is a mute point. The jedi revamp is mostly coded and the robe system is set up as a reward that can be granted/removed from the inventory of the player. Unless we can start crafting items for specific characters to wear only this is an unlikely item that we will fit into. I'm sure it is possible and may even happen further down the road but i don't imagine it will change before the space expansion comes out.

As much as I would love to make hooded robes, I am going to have to be happy we don't make the robes. Part of me really likes the whole idea of the Jedi kind of being bound together now. They have this secret council that issues them robes, a whole little dungeon to hang out in. I don't think we as tailors could really engineer a "Jedi Robe" that would give them the resists and maybe special force abilities they need. If we could, then why can't we make armored Spec-Ops Duster (in black of course). I don't know, I just like the idea of a whole Jedi order thing going on.

I think the Jedi would be disappointed if theyhad to gettheir robes through mundane means.

Again, crafting Jedi robes from start to finish probably isn't something that the majority of tailors want. Butyou have torealize that that's not the only option! What most of us do want, however, is some involvement in the process of Jedi obtaining their robe. Sidestepping the whole tailoring profession when it comes to all articles of Jedi clothing is something that very much rubs me the wrong way.

Just recently they added a nice non-craftable shirt witha Rebellion insignia as a loot drop on the corvette. Mind you, clothing with insignias is something that we've been asking for for quite some time. Were we involved in the process? No. And now they want to hand Jedi their robes at the appropriate levels? I see a trend here and I don't like it.

When it comes to all things Jedi, you all need to remember that they "are all but extinct." So all things Jedi use should be self made or given to them from NPC Jedi and be trandferable.I say this because in the SW books non jedi used lightsabers, just not very well.

Dev's have heard a lot of us cry about the armor paddings "Why oh why are we becoming slaves of the Armorsmiths?"

And Jedi are uber, they can do everything on their own. Live in total solitude. They don't need a WS either for a lightsaber, do they?

For all those Rebel Tailors here consider the following:

If Jedi had to seek the assistance of Tailor's for Jedi-Only items the Empire would would take up permenant residence in your living room the day after the patch.

I'm not dissapionted by this at all. I think the Devs made the right choice here. Tailors should not be crafting the whole, or parts of the Jedi robe. Eventually these guys will be flagged overt all the time and having to wander into a tailor shop to get a robe will be a hassle.

I don't post on the tailor forums enough. I have been a tailor for a long time, almost as long as I have been playing. In all that time I, like so may of you have seen persistent bugs (necklaces) and watched as our pleas for added content have been washed away to the sloughs of development.

I think that it wouldn't be so hard for us tomake, every time a Jedi levels to their next robe, a 1 use schematic for the robe itself, then the Jedi takes it to their trainer to be imbued with it's special properties. It may even be a small quest based deal for the Jedi to search out the necessary ingredients for the robe which would be ever changing for each player's robe from level to level to prevent the inevitable price gouging that would result from specific-to-robes resources.

Just an idea from a fellow clothier.

Alciril, I could not agree with you more on this issue. I already posted something along these lines in the thread on what our next question to THshould be, but here I go anyway...

When you made the armoursmith analogy, it really hit home with me, because that is exactly what's happening. Suddenly, the devs have introduced clothing that, wait for it, HAS PROTECTIVE PROPERTIES, and doesnt require skill tapes or tissues to do so. Not only that, but there are apparently different robes for different levels of jedi (i.e. they went through the trouble of creating art work for a number of new clothing items, and again we have no part in crafting them). We should feel left out.

Of course, only jedi should be certified for their robes. And it would also seem to be fair to limit their crafting to FS tailors. But, whenever we ask for new schematics, we get the response that the art team is very busy, and this holds things back. At the same time, there has been a continual influx ofnew clothing (*gasp*)for months now, and we have had no part in any of it. Yet again, the combat players get handed loot that should be the responsibility of tailors to craft.

So how about we just plain out get to make them?
