Thread: What can we, as tailors, do to improve the starwarsy feel of the game?

My guess would be that there's probably a lot of players out there that would like to dress Starwarsy, but they don't know how to go about it. They don't know what's available ig, or may not even be familiar with the exact movie look. I think only a tailor can truly understand what it's like to watch the movies and become distracted by what the characters are wearing.

There are a TON of star wars clothes not in the game, that would totally add to the starwarsy feel and look of the game...

for example:

Archives director: a traditional ansala pattern symbolizing knowledge and learning

Holsters, thigh and hip slung holsters

Spellslayers teardrop emblem and leather top

Raddan vermin-killers vest (way cool)

Shakk Ti's jedi outfit

Hermoine Bagway outfit (very sexy/cute)

soluble zoosha fabric (pants very sexy) worn by some people in the nightclub scenes with a cropped knit top with long sleeves

the leather tunic worn by anaking skywalker

Bail Organa's outfit

Sly Moore and Mas Amedda outfits

The red and blue guard outfits

Supreme chancellor Palpatine's outfits

Amidala's many outfits (senate gown, parade gown, throne room gown, travelling gown, battle dress,

Captain Typho's outfit

Barris Offee

Luminara Undulo

Bultar swan

The simple Tunic is the main thing missing for the true star wars look! Luke had them and also just about everyone in the sub-sequent movies wore them, a very important tunic was completely left out

Auura Sing's outfit (hot)

Neimoidians Robes

the mesh outfits worn by the blue twilek twins

Senate guard outfits

is that enough starwars suggestions for clothes?

Star Wars starts in peoples minds and ends there.

What we basically see, people are not wearing for a galaxy far far away. More like Earth 21st century. I'm not giving example of previous timeline but Episode IV, V, VI does not have much flashy colors.

From the interview in DVD set:

- We have noticed "future" is not shiny as we used to think instead it is rotten and rusted.

But you cannot say this, 21st century digital girls/boys. From my side, may beunlike manyother tailors, I never use colors beside leather and pastel palette (not expanded one)and I can say, my income is over2 million a week from clothing. I don't fill my vendors with all of colors. What people buys from me is what makes them feel like in Star Wars Universe when I get feedbacks from my customers. My customers are roleplayers so their choices depends on this. So I serve them well andI guess I'm doing my part in Star Wars side. Never crafted a hot pants or hawtpantsso far, and probably never will.

Armor issue is big one. I don't think we can change peoples minds who never cares for roleplay. "Happy Rotter", "Eric Fartman" "Erotica" names and such. NPC's are good example for Star Wars clothing, as long as noone wears them or hunts with exotic leotard, nothing as tailor community that we can do.

I just refuse to sell non-Star Wars colors and clothing and I'm happy from my & my customers' side.

Some great suggestions above. Just a few thoughts to add to the mix.

If the question leads to "What can the devs do for tailors to help tailors improve the StarWarsy feel of the game?" then the best thing I can suggest is more schematics from the movies. Amidala's headdresses. Tunics. Robes. Capes. Factional uniforms. An alternative to wearing a backpack everywhere you go. The list is nearly endless. Being able to dress like your favorite character helps keep the theme going. Make it so armor isn't a necessity.

But with what we have right now, we are somewhat limited in many ways. The full-range of colors is a wonderful thing. Think about some of the dancer outfits from Coruscant. The patrons in that cantina. The robes of senate. We can make the eclectic and sometimes outlandish "costumes" that Amidala wore...or at least something with the same feel.

It's difficult for the men because our schematics don't offer them nearly the same amount of choices. But not impossible. Put together a "Han Solo display" with the Corellian blood-striped pants, white shirt and black vest. We have the "Lando shirt" with the Trim Lined Shirt (just no cape!). We do have many recognizable items. And many people have put together references for those items.

I would never want to stifle the creativity I've seen in regards to Tailor clothing. But keeping some of those "core" items on display may help encourage things a bit.

I put a red double robe and a composit helm on my male vendor then put the robes, red long uniform gloves and the red helm for sale.. they sold like hot cakes once people saw that they looked like the royal guard!

I guess showing customers what is possible for star wars type outfits is a good place to start. However, 99% of females do not want to wear Leia's pretty white dress (pleated dress), her cloaked dress or the nice decorative dress... all of those dresses are right out of the star wars movies and yet do not sell. So, you have plenty of star wars type clothing for females but how many females in the game wanna wear those clothes? Most of them like the bikini top/bustiers and sexy skirts.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink... (or something like that).

added one thing... I am a merchant too and as a merchant we are very limited in naming our vendors and sometimes that makes it difficult to even advertise your wares as 'star warsy'... you have to name them something completely different. The naming filter would not let me make "Royal Guard" for a vendor, it wouldn't let me use "Healing Clothes" and various other names so it's rather frustrating... and you even have to name your wookiee vendor wookie or wookie'e for their clothes. or a BH vendor Bob'aFet... The naming filter makes it difficult to advertise star wars clothes or items in general. I mean we are playing SWG shouldn't we be allowed a little leeway for using the star wars names in game? LOL

Great posts, but let's not forget Wookies! I realize that in the Star Wars movies that Wookies didn't wear much, if any, clothing. But, we only had Chewbacca to go on. Maybe he was a Wookie nudist? Maybe the vast majority of other Wookies wore really nice clothing, flowing robes of silver and gold. Delicate shoes with pointed toes, embroidered with little flowers.

Seriously, we may need to stray, at times, from the Star Wars universe. But, it's for the betterment of an entire species that only gets what I consider rags to wear.

No he was not. Wookies dont wear anything. You will see they have only armor helmets in Episode III

Actually, I was just joking. I do realize that Chewbacca wasn't a nudist It was just a thought, something that I'm sure many of us would like to see implemented into the game.

Actually this is an example of "what we should not do to improve starwarsy feeling" ma'am... Last thing that can improve starwarsy feelingis a wookie with "hawtpants" in hot orange really..

Suggest to your Imperial Customers that they buy custom made Imperial Uniforms.

I've found this set up works well:

Dress Uniform Jacket
Wooly Pants
Uniform Boots
Gloves

I use the grey settings, or the black.

Rebels should wear those Crix Madine general outfits, I'd like to see more guilds that are
faction based have faction based guild uniforms Offer guild discounts maybe?

Honestly, if you don't want to make hawtpants or things in colors, then don't. But just let the rest of us have the option to if we so desire. I for one would love to see more colorful Wookiee clothing. I cringe every time I have to make Wookiee clothes because of the horrible color selection available.
