I've got no issues with Tailors (and only Tailors) being able to do a 1-time re-colorization of a garment after it has been crafted. Doesn't have to be a dye-kit either, it can be as simple as a radial menu option on the item that pops up a colorization box like Composite armor, or as complex as an Image Design terminal where we can do an entire outfit - in real time - at once.

This would be wonderful for my game. There are a lot of things I want to do in game besides stand there between my vendors and crafting station. Other than component runs and small lots of black stuff, my factory is more storage space.

NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!! UGH I HATED this idea when it was first suggested MANY months ago and it STILL bites! (sorry this is probably gonna come off a lot more angry and saracastic than I may intend it to do 8D ) Yeswhy not craft everything in black or white and have the customer come to me after to have it coloured.../rollseyes

Sorry I LOVE custom orders its how I started out and got my name around on Corbantis, I love nothing better than sitting chatting to customers and doing a custom outfit in an unusual colour, theres nothing better than feeling satisfied after workingwith a very choosy customer and making them walk away singing your praises to all and sundry! especially if you get to know them a bit while You made there clothing.

BUT i'm not on all day everyday (thats why I have vendors) and when I am on i dont want every gun bunny or new guy coming up to me and demanding I change the colour of his clothes to go with his armour and then gasping when I charge him as much as I would to just make a similar item anyway. Imagine if they implemented dyes like they did paintkits for droids and vehicles, youd be either A: inundated with tells ,even more than tailors already are,for recolours (NO THANKS!) or worse B: everyone in black or white because they cant be bothered trying to find tailor to recolour it! (how many custom coloured speeders do you see compared to default cloured ones?)

even if they just made it a master tailor skill like an ID radial menu choice I suspect you would turn off your tailor tag pretty quick as youd still be in tell hell from people asking you to recolour clothes... "i need it RIGHT NOW.....what do You mean come to You??!!!" *sigh* customer gets irate at you not wanting to travel halfway across the galaxy to recolour there leather gloves, cutomer gets /addignored 8)

No thank You!

damn i'm in good mood today lol!! 8)

Ok, then how about the ability to "share" the colorization interface with the potential customer during crafting? Not that they can pick the color(s) themselves, but rather, they can see what you're doing, and the two of you can agree on the color(s) before committing the item.

Yes now THATS a better idea! 8)

I'm going to see if I can dredge up one of those old threads, lol, because everything that has been said, and suggested, and argued in this thread has been said/argued/discussed before. It's like "Deja Vu all over again".

My recollection though was that the argument against tailors customizing after the clothing had been made went something like this:

a) takes away sales

b) replaces sales with an emphasis on an (inevitably) free service (tell hell from rude, demanding gun bunnies demanding you run out to the starport to color their clothing).

c) workload would potentially increase greatly, accompanied by a sharp decrease in revenue

d) discounts master-level skills (buy clothing from an undercutting noob on the bazar, go to a master to get it colored for free)

e) fear that you'd lose creative control over your own creations (sell clothing, it's re-colored to something potentially embarrasing, then re-sold)

Yes that is a better idea. I make what my customers ask me for, I offer suggestions and make a few different colors of the items. Most of the time they like what I suggest and if they don't I just sell it on my vendor. It helps in the restocking at least. hehe

I don't see a link to that last one I posted NJ. Maybe I'm going blind, but I don't think it's there.

Granted, I enjoy spending time with my customers too! I'm just sick of wasting resources trying to get the "perfect" colormatch all the time, and either winding up with a pack full of junk clothes that will never sell, or having to destroy them.

But hey, if you like sitting around cranking out dozens of lekku wraps, more power to ya.
