This is just a small thing, but I would like to see Tailors able to craft things like Dyes which can be applied to clothing to change the colour, sort of like how Artisans make Vehicle Customisation kits to change a Vehicles colour.
What do you think?

I think this is a great idea. It would make it possible to do factory runs of garments, then individually color them.

BAD IDEA
and here's why
1: I make money by selling clothes and these clothes are colored for the customers wants and needs. If I sell them a dye kit instead, they can go to any tailor and by whatever they want and dye it how they want. I LOSE BUSINESS.
2: This makes it so clothing prices will be cheaper. Unless we make the dye kits expensive as he!! we won't make money. I'm not in this just for the money, but I like to maintain my equipment (i.e. factories, harvesters).
3: You tell me, how do we make money we they can go to any tailor and buy a piece of clothing and dye it. There goes almost all the business for the custom order tailor.
So, I repeat, BAD IDEA.

I'm fully welcome to your ideas about this, if you don't like dyes, that's fine, I just thought it might bring something more to the profession.

What about a dye pot/kit, craftable by master tailors but with a skill check requiring tailoring skillsto use?
I understand and appreciate the concern that business would be effected if every player could change their clothing color. I have been a master tailor for almost a year now and frankly, I'm tired of grinding out each item individually (except, of course, the all-black stuff which I use factories for). At least with tailor there is variety andit is not as bad as pre-factory BE, churning out pet stims as though I thought it was fun.

Here is how tailors feel about dye kits

Dye kits would absolutely ruin what is left of the tailoring profession. After all, we have no experimentation and we can't actually design our own clothes, so coloring clothes is really the heart of what tailoring is! Otherwise it would be an elite crafting profession that is actually less difficult and demanding than novice artisan! There were some proposals about tailors maybe having the idea of dying an item once as it comes out of a crate, but other than that most of us think that dye kits are a very very bad idea.
P.S. Why is this idea suddenly so popular right now?

We have hated this idea so much, and so often, that there are multiple threads on it. We hates it. We hates it a lot. Dye kits for clothes come into the game - I cancel SWG.
Clothes don't decay. Yet. Supposed to, but they don't. Yet. Repeat business is based almost soley on someone wanting something in another color. Most tailors ENJOY being able to help a customer choose color combinations. You take away our exclusive ability to color clothes, give it to everyone, you KILL the Tailor profession.
No. We hate the dye kit idea.

Well I'm not a Tailor, so please bare with me thatI don't know all of your problems. Yes I see that as a problem indeed, it's just a problem I find (as a combat class), albeit small, when you buy a piece of clothing with skill mods, only to find the colour unbearable.

Because it's become the "magnanimous" *cough* solution to the vendor nerf killing the tailor business. No doubt the nerf hits tailors hardest. Some people think if we could just make blanks in crates and had dye kits anyone could buy, that would solve our (their) dilemma over not being able to offer (find) variety anymore.
*is horrified imagining every tailor in all the galaxies listing nothing but black clothes pulled from crates*

I've got no issues with Tailors (and only Tailors) being able to do a 1-time re-colorization of a garment after it has been crafted. Doesn't have to be a dye-kit either, it can be as simple as a radial menu option on the item that pops up a colorization box like Composite armor, or as complex as an Image Design terminal where we can do an entire outfit - in real time - at once.

If you think I hate the dye kit idea, try and get me started on non-crafted clothing with mods—that includes both SEAs and dropped mod clothing.
