While I'm pretty sure this is what the devs had in mind all along and they just put the original limits on there to see the community reaction, I can't say that this is what I expected. More vendors? Up to 12 ?!?!! It takes FOREVER for some places to load with all the crap in the houses and vendors, now it will take even longer with up to 12 in one spot.

I guess its not all bad for me, seeing as how I only have tailoring as a crafting profession, but I feel for the 2-3 crafting prof people. So I can have my Novice Merchant and 1 box, gives me 4 vendors, 1000 items. Looks like I'll be separating out the BE stuff from the regular stuff and keep my loot/components vendor. Hmm, what to put on the fourth vendor, I don't sell resources, so that's out. Separate dresses/skirts from pants/ shirts/ jackets/ footwear/ headwear/ bandoliers/ packs? I dunno. Any suggestions on what works for the rest of the tailors out there??

Not only does this change work for me, it actually will help me grow my tailoring business. With the ability to place 12 vendors instead of just 6, I will be able to open a second clothing shop on Coronet, something I've wanted to accomplish for a while, but haven't been able to, due to all my vendors being used in my current shop. I figure I could do twice as much business on Cnet as I do currently on Dantooine.

I'm more of an on the spot tailor. I became a tailor to be able to make whatever outfit I wanted. Having a business with it was a bonus. I stopped using a vendor a long time ago. Mostly because I didn't have time to stock. When I did use a vendor (6 on 4 planets) I never had over 120 items on each. I couldn't carry enough supplies with me to stock more than that. Spent too much time traveling from planet to planet as well . I DID have a brief yet popular following though. If I use a vendor again seriously (I do actually have one to move junk thats too expensive to sell on teh bazaar) I probably still won't be hurt by this. I'm a serious tailor, just not a serious store owner. I would be much happier moving my merchandise through an actual merchant.

I am still so stunned I don't think it's sunk in yet. I was joking around with my daughter-in-law earlier and said it would be great if they made master merchant more worth having, like give us 12 vendors, and then we laughed because we knew that would never happen... *boggle*

And this works pretty well for me. For several reasons. I have been a Master Merchant for a year now. I had already decided to cut down on stock levels of 3000+ to around 1500 or so. I just placed a guild hall to make into a mall this weekend. We were decorating it to get ready to set up new vendors in there next week after the patch. I will have to sit in my half-decorated mall and have a rethink about my vendor distributions now. This gives me so, soooo many more options now. I can't hardly believe it.

*pinches self* Is it true?

While these new numbers are still not ideal without the aggregated version, I too think it will be workable in some way. My only problem is that I have my main sales in our city'soutlet mall (near Theed/Naboo, while the city is on Rori and sales are rather slow there). As most of our crafters have vendors there, it already is a bit cramped and this change will not really make it better for me. But I guess I will let the account survive and give it a try.

I don't have 3000 items on my vendors, but if I ever want to increase my business I would have a problem. There's no way I can fit twelve vendors in a merchant tent.

The numbers are better but I still feel like I have been tricked. They knew from the start that they would do thisand now they got most of the merchants cheering. It's not an honest way to treat us, the paying customers.

If I may suggest but it depends on what planet your shop is on. Instead of a Tent, use a small Naboo house. You'll get more room but it still only takes up one slot.

Im perfectly fine with the new changes. Yay! I have 10 vendors spread over 2 accounts. Im going to love having them all with just one toon. Makes tracking sales and restocking alot easier. I dont mind more vendors and having a item limit. I personally prefer to have more specialized vendors.

I also just read, although a second hand quote, that they're upping Master Merchant only cap to 300 per vendor. Definately a number I was hoping for, although the 250 plus 6 more vendors was nice too.../swoon!

This has been confirmed by TH (post here, quoted below)

Yes, they will.

Though, I was able to sweeten the pot for Master Merchants. At the Master Box level, all of the Master's vendor limits will be raised to 300 per each vendor.

Good news to those of us who kept our master merchant

Merchant Vendor Changes now on TC

TH's post here

As you know, on August 6th, we put some preliminary changes to the Vendors on Test Center. These changes are part of the commodity server enhancements that we have pushed out. We apologize for any anxiety you may have experienced, but I’m glad to announce we’ve been able to make some good changes to the Vendor limits. While we can’t make the Vendor limits aggregate, we have doubled the number of Vendors merchants can acquire and also increased the amount of Artisan Vendors.

The revised Vendor limits are as follows:

Artisan Business III: Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (100) items, for a total of (100) items for all vendors

Artisan Business IV: Get (2) Vendor, that will hold (100) items, for a total of (200) items for all vendors

Merchant Novice: Get (3) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (750) items for all vendors

Merchant Management I: Get (4) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (1000) items for all vendors

Merchant Efficiency I: Get (5) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (1250) items for all vendors

Merchant Management II: Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (1500) items for all vendors

Merchant Efficiency II: Get (7) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (1750) items for all vendors

Merchant Management III: Get (8) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (2000) items for all vendors

Merchant Efficiency III: Get (9) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (2250) items for all vendors

Merchant Management IV: Get (10) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (2500) items for all vendors

Merchant Efficiency IV: Get (11) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (2750) items for all vendors

Master Merchant: Get (12) Vendors, that will hold (250) items, for a total of (3000) items for all vendors

These look better! A lot better! 3000 items instead of 660. I still voiced an opinion on the following 2 issues:

1. Tailors, in order to keep prior stock, will have to use all 12 vendors! That will be annoying and take a lot of space - it's very inconvenient to break up clothing into micro-categories. I'm still pushing for aggregate limits (though I understand those might involve technical difficulties) so that the 3000 items can be spread on 12 vendors or all on 1 vendor.

2. As a global issue, this puts too many "goodies" in efficiency (20% reduction, tents, and now 7 vendors). I realize that as tailors we're pleased as punch to only have to take one line of merchant for the majority of the goodies, but from a balance point of view, it borks the merchant profession.

Overall, I think these changes make being a tailor more workable, and may not even have an impact on many tailors. Comments?

Boy, I wish I was at home to see exactly what boxes in Merchant I have.

I'm a little confused here... I'm pretty sure I have Advertising 4 and Management 3 (It's all I can have being Master Tailor and Image Designer). Does anyone know if I only have Management 3 and none of Efficiency, am I still able to have the 8 vendors or do I have to also have the Efficiency column too?

Also, what's going to happen once this goes live? Is everyone's vendor amounts and limits going to be automatically adjusted? What I mean is if I'm only able to have three vendors and currently have five, are two going to poof?

Thanks in advance,

'JonMichael

With just management 3, you'd have 6 vendors.

The description is confusing. Box by box here is how it works....

+1 at business 3

+1 at business 4

+1 at novice --> 3 vendors at novice

For each box of management you get +1 for a total of 4 vendors from the management line

For each box of efficiency you get +1 for a total of 4 vendors from the efficiency line

At master merchant you get +1

You do not have to go up both management and efficiency - each box stands alone and grants you additional vendors. If you have to take only one line, take efficiency because you get all the other goodies (tents, 20% structure fee reduction). A merchant with ONLY efficiency 4 will have 7 vendors.

Once again these changes are not final! There is concern that these changes unbalance merchant and make one line significantly more attractive than others, and that the perks at master merchant are not worthy of the skill point investment. I would suggest not making/destroying vendors to rearrange them. I also would be cautious about changing templates until things are more certain. Management will always grant additional vendors, and if anything is going to be tweaked, I suspect it will be the efficiency perks. Don't drop management quite yet

I've allways thought that the "Reduced Vendor Fees" mod should have been under managment from since day 1

Thanks for your insight NJ
