I don't know about the rest of you, but I am really, really happy about this, we finally get to experiment again, and I am happy beyond belief.

Maybe this could give us leverage to get experimentation back (should the majority of tailors want it, I don't because I'm lazy like that)...and real decay.

Maybe we could ask for wookiee clothing that also uses the new component

Personally - on regular clothing - lack of experimentation was a godsend. If they put it back - the % that most tailors that want it back think will give them an advantage, to the customer will be totally insignificant compared to - is it bio modded, does it have sockets - and what color is it.

Decay is in - it just needs to work - and it's doing fine without experimentation.

Nobody cares about the HAM on armor as they can just get buffed to wear it if need be. Experiment quality all the way, then use whatever leftover points, if any, on the durability.

What the heck is this?????????

  • Fiberplast panels - goes into armour with no experimentation

  • Synthetic Cloth - goes into armour with no experimentation

  • Reinforced fiberplast Panels - goes into armour with no experimentation

  • Wookie Pillow Padding - goes into armour with a heck of a lot of headaches for us tailors!!!!

No, I do not supply 6000 synth cloth for grinders to master armoursmith! No, I do not want to hand out free schematics so you can make 200k per suit of composite. No, I don't want to supply trim to chefs, synth to doctors, and I especially do not want to have to learn how to experiment and get good components so those armoursmiths can make a fortune on wookie armour now!!!

Clothing will never take the place of armor...it serves a few functions..to look good off the battle field and for those that do not fight and only wear clothing. Maybe a good compromise on the experimentation would to make it optional almost like bio-enhanced clothing. The option of adding an armor segment into a piece of clothing to give it a little bit of protection for you when worn. maybe even limit it to field wear. It would in no way take the place of armor but could instead be combined with with armor pieces. For example..you don't want to wear a full set of composite but you don't want to loose all the protection..you could replace the pants with a pair of camos that have less protection but still it is better than no protection. It would give the option to mix and match tailored goods with armorsmith goods to create a more unquie look for people. Instead of everyone looking the same. Alot of people might argue "who cares" well I think if they think about this they care about what their character looks like. Maybe not all the time but they care.

and some of us don't mind supplying components and make a very good living doing so, are we to be denied another option in that trade because some tailors don't want to make components? and if so why? it's quite simple don't make them, it would be nice to have the option instead of being dictated to by those that think as a tailor they are above making parts.

My 2 cents (and I'm not voting mind you, which is why this isn't in the poll thread...)

I think the main issues in this transaction are:

  • we don't use it in our own stuff (only master artisans make stuff they can't use, elite professions shouldn't)

  • experimentation (and armor experimentation at that)

  • materials have stats

  • the materials are hides

Changing any one of these variables, I think, would probably change some votes.

I never complained once about making trim for chef's, nor syn for doctors. These 2 items we already make and use ourselves.

I have a problem with the armor segment, because it is not even functional for tailors.

I already have a problem with inventory space, so trying to create more room for the higher stat and specialresources to make these is an issue for me. so I won't make them regardless. making trim, and syn and rfp is something we have to make anyways so it doesn't affect how much crap I need to have on hand.

The other issue... this is NOT a tailoring item, has nothing to do with tailoring what-so-ever and armosmiths will want master tailors to make them because of the higher skills, so it leaves out novice tailors or casual tailors who may prefer to sell componants rather than clothes.

Basically it boils down to the fact that it is NOT a tailor item.

no, it boils down to the fact that because some don't want to make itthey feel no tailor should.

and why is it not a tailoring item, other than it's not wearable? are we not allowed to have items other than clothing?

I have no doubt this will be removed from the tailoring tree due to the amount of people calling for it but the reasoning behind that is totally beyond me, you all want an item that we would be getting to not be added because you don't personaly want to make it, sorry but thats ludicrous!

Most poeple dont want it, because most armorsmiths are asses about cloths and what not as it is. Do you really want one more reason for them to bug us?

yes, i'd at least like the option.

edit: i'm also an armorsmith so it actualy makes little difference to me which tree it ends up in, I am one for arguing a point though

My opinion:

This is a fantastic addition and another great marketing tool for bio enhancing tailors.

Research and find a couple of good, reliable, positive armorsmiths. Maybe you know them already. Sell only to them. Use those SEAs that you've been collecting in case experimenting might some day work. Do not stress yourself out trying to meet demand - concentrate on being a distributor to only a few. Get yourself into an agreement with some honest smiths. They will be more than happy to take care of you $$ wise, we're getting to experiment and use our tapes, the profits will be nice because of high demand and the overall wealth of the buyer - the armorsmiths.

That's if the experimenting works

As always, great update Jess

I'm a bit confuzzled. will this use Tailor or AS level for experimentation bonus?
