Well yes and no. There's always been very high demand for clothing on the bazar. That is certainly true, but selling clothing on the bazar, on bria, used to be very challenging.

A typicalevening of selling on the bazars for me would go like this:

go to coronet, look at what is on the bazar, see that hundreds and hundreds of items were on there. try to find a few of the more popular items that had <5 for sale or so where the prices were at a reasonably high level. Ah, only 2 cloaks for sale, both black, for 2.5k. They will be gone in the next hour or two. Cool, make a white one and a green one and put them for sale at 2.25k in hopes they would sell quickly. Make as many other items as I'm fairly sure will sell within 48 hours or so at a price that is worthwhile. Typically that would be like 6-8 items on a given day (but I wasn't a mster then either).. Then travel to Dearic, Tyrena, and Kor Vella and do the same. Then look back on the bazar, damn! 2 more cloaks added in Coronet, both now priced at 2k, crud! One more thin striped pants added in Tyrena priced at half what mine is, damn damn damn! And so forth. Competition used to be brutal to say the least. I think that's why there used to be so many threads on pricing and people used to have pretty strong feelings about it. Nowadays...

3-4 months back we were all up in arms about tailors putting stuff like cloaks on the bazar for 500cr, or gunmans' dusters for 1k. And there was speculation of a lot of MT level items making their way onto the bazar for 6k with the new limit. But I actually haven't see that.

I never heard we were "all up in arms" about listing our items for that low of a price. I only remember us whining about it, lol, but perhaps I didn't browse the forums as much back then. /shrug

With the new 6K limit on the bazaar, I do notice a lot more MT items sold on there for 3500-6000. I saw a sports wrap for 500!

And Dex1138, I've actually done that before, the buy-and-resell thing... but I refuse to do that anymore, because if I buy them, the seller would think, "Ohh, cool! My items sell at this price!"

True i am making a lot of money via the bazzar on coronet but in truth my shop on tatooine is suffering. I guess i should be happy that I am making money but I like people coming into to my shop to see my displays and take time choosing outfit. However half the population of my server are parked outside the starport in coronet.

People dont travel as much to player shops any more its not just tailors but in general most items are traded via the bazzar. Its all rather sad. The only good news on the horizon is the would be some merchant changes to reduced the number of vendors listed on the global maps without the skills to use them.

As a new Master Tailor (and yes...you're stuck with me...I'm not dropping it!!!) I have to say that my store is doing rather well on Talus. Our city has a tent center with several other Master Crafters...so we all get the run overcustomers fromeach others' stores. Next, I always have my Master Tailor tag on and that gets me boku requests. My bazaar items do alright, but I found the prices really low due to grinding. Finally, I think that when the Jedi system changes over figure the next month or two, we will see a HUGE drop in the amount of Tailors.

Example (make you cringe).....An entertainerwanted a flesh wrap three days ago. I I offered a custom one for 8000. I think that was a fair price for such a high skill required item and if she was hard up for credits....I would have worked down a little. She e-mails me later a new one was 1500 on Bazaar ! <gasp> We spent all that time getting to Master to sell one of the hottest items for 1500 ? I think it will even out though as I said with the elimination of grinder Tailors.

I have to wonder sometimes about the people who buy off the bazaar...

A long time ago, in a land far, far away... I used to buy crates of ranged powerups for 100cr/powerup. Then I'd sell them on the bazaar for 3k each.If you didn't know, 100cr/powerup is a standard price for crated items, and people were still buying them off the bazaar for 3,000cr each. It just goes to prove that people will spend crazy money just for the convenience of using the bazaar instead of going to a vendor. (or there are people who have more money than brains)

99 44/100% of the clothing i make is bio clothing, and I will NOT be selling any of it on the bazaar. As for selling normal clothes on the bazaar, I can see how it is a great market for someone who wants to do a lot of work. And I'm glad the increase from 3k to 6k max is showing people that clothes are valuable. Most people just don't understand the time and resources involved in making clothes and they don't want to pay for it. They think it's just a shirt, and pants, and hat, and gloves, and boots, and..and..and... Oddly enough, these same peoplethink nothing of spending millions of credits on a gun that does 2 more points of damage than the one they have now.Go figure.

I still don't sell on the bazaar and my vendors are doing quite well. Granted my non-bio clothes don't sell very well, probably due to the bazaar. But I can make a decent living off selling the aprons, and BE clothes. I don't even care anymore about the bazaar to be honest. Right now I can keep up with my vendor sales which seems to be just right. Custom orders I do fall behind still, but hey I gotta take time off sometimes to sleep and eat. I figure anyone lazy enough to shop only on the bazaar doesn't really care about how they look or if things match.

No kidding.. and if you're a tailor on Eclipse.. you can more than understand what we are talking about. It's rediculous.

I will say that in my experience as of late, there is still a huge influx of new tailors on our server. It's nuts really. There are so few of us that have been here to remember when you could actually move through a starport. That was back in July of last year btw, LOL.

I've not sold on the bazaar in so long, I can't tell you the last time I did. I use to sell packs on there and will probably go back to that but that's about it.

I'm terrified of the impending Vendor nerf though. Heck, my bio vendor usually has more than 150 items, and if sockets get fixed soon.. .that wont change until we get hit. My normal vendor is usually around 500-600 (i've been on my alt a bit lately so it's down to 400 atm, me thinks /bad tailor). Being that I don't want to turn my PA into a room of NPC's, the bazaar might be the only option in the future. /shudder

Think I'll visit the bazaar today and see what's happening..

TheNola,

Yes, if you weren't reading the forums back then, then you probably missed the posts back then, lol.

I've very rarely seen MT items on the coronet bazaar, so far at least. I'm certainly not putting any on there. Most of the dirt cheap items I see on the bazaar now are the looted items in ugly colors and damaged condition. Sports wraps seem to be pretty common loot, I've seen those on the bazaar since launch at dirt cheap prices. Good thing is that people do distinguish and it is possible to list one a lot higher and have it sell.

Oh, and as far as buying and reselling. Well, the person selling at real low prices is going to sell it either way, and he/she is going to make the same number of credits whether its you that buys it or a customer. The difference is that if a customer buys it, then that sets an expectation that this item can be bought at that price. If you buy it and mark it up, there is no such customer expectation.

I try not to charge more than 1k for anything unless its either limited use schematic or bio-enhanced, even then i don't make much profit off of them. Guess i just feel that clothing shouldn't cost much.

Why not? Clothing makes the game more enjoyable for a lot of people, and thats what playing games is all about. As I said before, just because something doesn't have to do with killing or not getting killed, that doesn't mean that it is worthless. There are lots of reasons to play SWG and fighting is just one of them.

Absolutely.

Out of all the things wrong with Tailoring, my number one gripe is people whodown-play the value of clothing, especially if it's a fellow tailor.

The tailorhad to get money to buy resources, or hunt for materials themselves, or pay money to feed the harvesters. If they have a shop, they have to pay money to keep the vendor [or vendors] going. If they put it on the bazaar it still costs them a minimum of 20cr per item to sell.

There's not a thing that can be done about someone who wants to sell robes of honor or the like for a thousand credits. It's just some people don't understand or don't care about their effect on other tailors in their galaxy when they decide to do this. It's a frustrating and hopeless situation.

??? So what if i don't like to make much of a profit on something, i can buy my resources at around 2cpu or get them for free. I don't even run harvesters. I maintain a factory but just one and thats it. I don't have need to pump money into a vendor because they don't decay beyond around 2% i believe it is. Just like in real life i don't feel i should have to spend 80-100 dollars for a pair of pants so why spend 2-3k in game for a pair of pants?

You can do as you wish. If you want to pay each person 20K to take your clothes, that is fine too. Its been my experience that people who don't charge much or sell at a loss usually get bored and leave the profession. It simply isn't what they spend most of their time doing in the game and they find other things that are more fun for them to do. Some of us also refuse to take advantage of the fact that Merchant is broken beyond belief. I know I still have all my merchant skills even though I could drop them and nothing bad would happen. Anyway , your server might be different from mine as far as the overinflated economy, but at least on Lowca 1cr does not have the same buying power as a dollar. It better to think of credits as pennies.
