I agree that it is very difficult to get 4 socket items.
I usually will get 1 out of 15-25 that is a 4 socket item.
I am master tailor
I was wondering if i was just unlucky or if the % was ont he very low side.

leather gloves, don't those fall under artisan line?
if so you will only see four sockets if you have the engineering line under artisan as well.
Artisan clothing sockets are affected by engineer line under Artisan, not Tailor skill.

I have noticed I get more sockets if I'm wearing my 'tailoring suit', as it were - 20s in both Experimentation and Assembly. Still random, but when I have it on I get 3 and 4 more consistently, I feel.
Normal clothing, I don't mind making until I get 4 sockets as requested, but it's the very rare soul I'll make BE clothing in 4 sockets for anymore. What I normally do is charge an additional amount if I have to try over 5 times to get something 4 sockets, and I keep the non 4 socket clothing to sell on my regular clothing vendor. Since I'm a custom order tailor, I need SOMETHING to put on that vendor, mehehe.

I feel your pain. I have had the worst luck with sockets lately.
The other day, I got an order for a pair ofwookie arm wrap gloveswith 4 sockets. I made 75 pairs of gloves, before I ended up just giving up entirely, and did not get ONE with 4 sockets. 
I was so frustrated. I had gotten 0-3 sockets on all of them, but not 4. My record before this was 32 pairs of boots for one with 4 sockets...so 75 gloves and zero with 4 sockets was just a bit too much for my patience to handle at the moment. :/

do you have the engineering line of artisan? you can't get 4 sockets on the DA line items unless you have both the DA and eng lines, since sockets on those items are dictated by the artisan mod (instead of the tailor mod)

I've even ended up grabbing extra artisan assembly mods, just in case
I rarely make anything but clothing from the artisan branches but with the amount of leather gloves and hide boots I get through I need every big of help I can get for those 4 sockets!!

A Ha! Thank you. I have Engineering II, but dont have III or IV. It was like 3am when I was crafting them at the time, so I wasnteven thinking about that. Just saw that I was getting 3 sockets in them, so somehow figured that 4 would have to come eventually lol. But that would explainwhy I just wasntgetting any.I remember, that before I had picked up any Engineering those items wouldnt even socket for me at all..so I guess Eng II is enoughfor them to socket to 3,but not enough to actually get 4?

I don't know, but since getting both lines doesn't guarantee 4 sockets, I wouldn't be surprised that not having all the boxes reduces your chances of getting 4 sockets down to nil.
