"oh, can you make 2 outfits so I can mix and match?"

"Sure." (I give him the price)

"Sweet!" (Promptly tips me twice that, my kind of customer)

Fine and good... THEN he says

"Now, I need another one."

"Sure - name it"

"Can you make me look pimp?"

So I made him a free pink pink and white spec ops duster and hired on of my friends to roleplay arresting him for pandering in full stormtrooper uniform. SO sick of hearing Pimp to mean cool.

Maybe it's a generational thing, or an American thing, but round here Pimp is not a word people tend to self-apply. Otherwise, we're going to end up with SnoopWars Galaxies, and do we really want that?

I had a request to look like a pimp—literally. For a party. Did my best and accidentally ended up with the Joker from Batman. I always thought there was something fishey about Harley Quinn…

I got this a LONG time ago, so this is all on memory, but it was rather amusing...

BH = Newly-achieved Bounty Hunter

BH: Hi, can you make some clothes for me?
Me: Sure. What are you looking for?
BH: I just got BH and I want something to make me look like a bounty hunter.
Me: Sorry, I can't make mandalorian armor. (Oddly enough, I have gotten many requests for armor. Does anyone else get this?)
BH: Lol! No, I want clothing that looks like a bounty hunter would wear.
Me: Well... Only thing I can really think of is the episode 2 outfit Jango was wearing in the cloning facility.
BH: No, I didn't like that. Something else?
Me: I guess I can just some up with something for you. Do you have any preferences in style or color?

*Goes through my normal custom fitting process, end up making two nice outfits, though I don't really think they're all that bounty-hunterish, they did look good.*

He was happy, I was happy, but it was a weird start.

LOL funny you should mention that. I had someone offer my vendor a metal staff for 2000cr. I had a good laugh, reject the offer, and sent the person an email saying he might have better luck with the junk vendors in Mos Eisley.

One of first custom jobs was for the set of clothes that novice brawlers get. I thought that this guy wanted to pass as a newbie. Turns outhe likes the look and has his armoursmith tapes in it, it would'nt be my first choice but there we have it.

The other thing that happen to me on taking a trip to Bestine (in search of Tat woolly hide), i get the tell make look cool. Hmm you've all heard that one, so spec-ops duster (black) etc later customer runs off. In the meantime spice fiends have made it to the starport where i am browsing the bazzar, my customer runs back to save me and gets incapped. I pull a T21 and waste the spicers and heal the customer. I had to save you as your a crafter and i thought they cant fight , so i thanked my would be saviour and left chuckling to myself (this crafter can fight as well as master tailor i am a master fencer witha little rifle mixed in). I just like to unwind from bad customers by taking out the anger on some poor mob.

heh, I thought that with me being away from my tailor for so long, it would be relatively "safe" for me to restock without anyone bothering me... but while I was restocking I got one of those "I want a schematic" request. I politely replied that I don't sell schematics, and that guy actually said something along the lines of "I was thinking of giving the materials to you to make me the schematics", and however he phrased it he meant for free.

I told him "if I'm not even selling schematics, why would I want to make it for free?"

no messages after that. whew!

Last week, some hosehead offered 5 items to my vendor.

3 of the items were clothes made by another tailor (At prices higher than what I sell for (i.e. 2k for a pair of gloves)

2 of them were looted clothing items with less than half their condition left (And both items were things I could make, and still they were above what I sell them for)

I checked the sign on the shop, but nowhere did it say "Second Hand Clothing! Buy - Sell - Trade" What the heck are people thinking?

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, most of my customers kindly email me their orders and I very rarely get send /tells for clothing unless its to ask if I will take an order.

Still I do have my share of bizarre tells from time to time. One person I had done clothing for in the past now asks me where he can buy everything from factories (try an architect), to good brandy (try a chef),to smoke for a wedding (advised him to look for torches, was the only smoky thing I could think of).

A second person I had made clothing for now lets me know of every rebel attack he is taking part in, I've not been a rebel for a few months now and I dropped allcombat ages ago, I've tried telling him this a few timesbut he might have finally got the message as I've not heard from him for a couple of weeks.

Oh, and its quite funny if I bump into a customer in Coronet. I always take off my Master Tailor tag when I go shopping there so I can pick up what I need in peace and put the tag back up when I'm ready to be a tailor again. If one of my customers sees me without my master tailor tag I often get a worried /tell from themasking me if I'm still a tailor, I can almost hear the sighs of relief when I assure them I've not dropped it LoL

Well, the end of my account for the summer is near, so I've been consolidating my vendors and such, because I won't be leaving them up during my absence. On a whim, I decide to check my offers tab. What do I find, but OVER 50 ITEMS OFFERED. The vast majority were an assortment of **edit**ty weapon powerups for 500 credits each. There was also a basic lance that was being offered for over 10k. I don't need this kind of stuff when I'm trying to EMPTY the vendor.

A recent surprise.

Day 1 - The Conversation (note that this is verbatim.)

Customer: BE/Trialor Master?

Me: Indeed.

Customer: I have an order.

Me. Feel free to send it via e-mail, and I'll provide a price quote.

Customer: first i need some prices

Customer: ahh

Customer: can you make a +25 vs bleed shirt?

Me: No one can, I'm afraid. The highest you can get is based on a single field tissue - typically +17, although +18 can be had for ridiculous sums.

Customer: how much do those normal cost?

Me: Formfitting Undershirt (so you can wear it under armor) with +17 bleed resist runs 5108 credits. It's a stock item for me.

Customer: only 5K?

Me: Only 5K.

Customer: wow this other trailor wanted to charge me per % meaning that same shirt would cost me around 18k

Customer: is it posible for a 20 beed resist?

Me: The highest I've seen is +18.

Me: +17 is typically the best you'll find.

Customer: yea but i am looking for increments of 56

Customer: i mean 5 not 56

Me: Understood, but that's the best I (and probably anyone else) can do. You can combine that bonus, though, with an armor attachment to get you to +25.

Customer: i've seen lots of Tensile Release tissues most of them are really low, how good are yours?

Me: Tensile Resistance tissues typically average +4/+16 - I've had a couple go higher, but it's difficult without perfect resources.

Me: Highest I've had is +5/+18.

Customer: yea i would need at least +5

Customer: ok one more question, is the +cover tissue a Synth cloth or Reinforced cloth?

Me: Reinforced. Mimetic Circuitry or Visual Camouflage for high or low bonuses, respectively.

Customer: ok thank you

Me: NP

Later that day:

Customer: ohh and whats teh difference between the enhanced myoflex that has + wound healing and the action biosensours that have +injury and wound treatment

Customer: active biosensors*

Me: Enhanced Myoflex supplies bonuses to Entertainers, while Active Biosensors provide bonuses to Medics.

Customer: i see

Customer: thank you again

Me: Yw

Customer: padded pants and padded workpants are the same thing eh?

Me: I believe so, but I'd have to check out my schematics, and I'm in the middle of a trade.

Customer: ok

Customer: how many reinforced slots does the formfitting undershirt have

Me: 1

Customer: can you wear a reinforced workshirt under armour?

Me: Nope

Customer: k

Customer: how high can you get a Mimetic Circuitry tissue?

Me: +17 to +18, typically.

(I then receive an e-mail for his order...wait for it...)

Customer: ok e-mail sent, I await your price.

Me: K

The e-mail basically lists several articles of clothing, as well as a strange request: all bonuses must be multiples of 5. Now, I price my stuff low because I simply make the best I can make given my current resources - I try not to target a specific value, just the best one I can get. So, I'm thinking "there's no way this customer's going to pick this stuff up if I hit him with a +4 melee/+16 stun Formfitting Undershirt or a +18 bleed Formfitting Undershirt, and I can't afford to hammer this order", so I contact him and politely let him know that I won't be able to meet the terms of the order.

Day 2 - The Whining

Customer: hey please dont cancel my order

Me: I'm sorry, but I don't think I'll be able to deliver for what you're looking. I currently sell the best I can make.

Customer: which is? how much lower is it then what i asked for?

Customer: i am at coronet vender right now, i could even pick up some resources you mite need

Me: You don't understand - my prices are low because I don't guarantee figures.

Customer: you told me your self the kinds of tissues you have and the only one i believe you had a problem with was the Tensile Release because you could only get it to 4 and i wanted 5

Customer: i am at coronet vender right now, i could even pick up some resources you mite need

Customer: thus making sure you get at least 5 on the tensile release

Me: Let me put it this way - if you don't get what you want, you'll likely refuse to pay for the item. Since I don't guarantee figures, that's a risk. It's easier to not fulfill your order and ensure I don't lose business than to fulfill it and gamble.

Me: If you're shooting for a specific set of figures, there are other master tailor/BEs out there who'd be happy for the business. I'd suggest Barterown, as they need additional business in order to aid their reconstruction.

Customer: ok how about this, look at my order and the tissues and i want and then tell me your tissue's figures?

Me: I've already done so. You've already communicated that with at least one tissue, that won't be acceptable.

Me: Instead of the back& forth, please, take your business to another tailor/BE who's willing to take the time to provide the figures you want.

Me: I simply do the best work I can do.

At this point, I had to /addignore him because I had other business to handle with customers. I like constructing custom orders, but I had a feeling this one would've been a bit of a challenge.
