I sell so many clothes as it is... even with people leaving, I have to ask... is it really going to be a good thing for use based decay to go into effect??
Honestly tailors how busy are you? I restock about once a week and I sell things so quickly it's just unreal. If time based decay goes in... I hate to see how busy I'll become.
My sales have been well over 1,000,000 credits (or more) every weekend! I just went out today and blew a bunch of credits on stuff I didn't need.

I agree that I've always been more busy than I want...
But, in principle, should clothing never decay? Everything else in the game decays.
Also, there is the issue of BE clothing - should these stats be permanent?
I don't necessarily think there is a right or a wrong answer for this. What do you think is best for us as tailors? What is best for the health of the game as a whole?

Well in all fairness....other wearable and usable items decay, and clothing really should too. However, I feel that this shouldlargely take placein combat....if something as fragile as cloth is being repeatedly shot/stabbed/burned, it would inevitably be damaged. I have no idea how they would implement such a thing though...as many feel the condition death penalty is adequate and would protest at any additional degeneration of their clothing. Also, there are those who pay millions of credits for clothing attachments, and I am sure they would put up quite an uproar if those items would eventually be rendered unusable, even if they never entered combat in them.

Jess, lemme ask you something.
I'm ALL FOR clothing needing to be replaced. It makes sense. But I'm extremely concerned because of one thing. I have a nightsister bicep that I love. It's worth about 50 million credits on my server. And if it's going to be worthless when they make 0 condition clothing unwearable, I'm gonna be very, very unhappy, especially since they've stopped dropping.
This might seem silly to some... but it's a very real concern to me. Is there any way around this? I do not want to lose this item.

I fear the only way would be not to use it. :/ I know, that's not really convenient at all, but once clothing stop to be wearable at zero condition ir stop giving any benefit this seems to be the only way to retain the functionality of you Nightsister Bicep.

Mine's already at 0 condition. If there's not going to be ANY way to save it, I'm going to sell it and get the money out of it while I can.

How about the idea of clothing (regular, not looted) to bleach out with time? So a black shirt would become dark grey after a month, and after another month it would be almost white (with a neat % number shown in the tool mentioned later in this post)). The only way to retain the color would be to bring it to a tailor who uses a (cheap, not quality based self-made) tool to redye the clothing. And people that dont want to do that just buy new clothing. Only equipped clothing should have this effect, and the time for the effect to become visible should be fairly long (as mentioned, at least a month).

ouch! maybe you just should put it on display in your house, salon, shop, tippi. iglu, pueblo... I won't see it as very fair to sell such a valueable piece and then grin evily knowing it will cease to function sooner or later. Of course it would be fair if the potential buyer would know about that. So the decision is of course up to you. And yes I can understand why you want to make some profit out of it as long as you can

clothing that still functions and is wearable at 0 condition is a known bug and exploit. Every player has to assume that one day the devs will correct it. Clothing does not decay from normal use, only from death and cloning.

Maybe rare items could be exempt from decay? I know a night sister armband is being sold in an auction on my server and has reached 8 million credits (probably will go higher than that very soon) or the devs need to add this item back into the game or give us the ability to make it.
ReallyI see both sides of the issue. Personally I'm just a busy tailor so I worry about the increased workload if this goes in, unless it's extremely slow decay.

The current rate at which clothing decays is pretty slow imho, as long as you keep everything insured. I had a duster that I probably carried around for at least 5 months on my main before it reached 0/0. I don't think decay would keep everyone running to the tailor shops, it would make people be more careful with their items. My nightsister bicep is at 80/80, and I don't wear it unless I'm covert and out of combat. Another reason why I would like to see decay is that I have some friends that haven't changed their clothes in almost a year!

To be honest, with repair and a moderate decay rate people should not be replacing their clothes all that often. With this and the fact that the most popular items can be made in a factory (you can crank out black and brown hooded robes by the ton). I don't think it should make the actual workload go up too much.
