How many of you guys are master tailors? I'm currently playing on Talus(Kauri) and I havn't seen a tailor(novice or master) yet. Also what is your favorite tailor branch? I am starting tailoring and I can't decide which branch to start with. Unfortunately I'm a grinder so I searched around and ribbed shirts seems to be the thing to gain txp, but what did you guys make for fun? I think going up the tailoring branch all the way would be the best to go. I figured the higher the clothing assembly the better the results. How did everyone else get master or are getting master, did you do it branch at a time or level at a time?

I am just getting started myself but I'll do my best to answer your questions.

Tailor is definitely not as popular as other elite crafting professions. However, many tailors may be doing the same as myself, and purposefully not displaying their tailoring tag. The reason is that folks assume that if you're a tailor you can make them dusters, cloaks, leotards, gowns, etc. So I'm sticking to my Master Artisan tag until I at least have a shop set up.

Casual and Field wear are the two most popular lines to persue first because they contain items that are easy to sell. The tailoring line provides more color choices and a better product via experimentation. However since clothing does not decay, experimentaion isn't that important. As for me, I haven't decided yet on which path I'll take to Master.

If you want to grind up to master, the most popular route is ribbed shirts up the Field Wear line and then Cartridge Belts from there on out.

Cool I missed the cartridge belts in the pricing guide XLS. I think I will take that route. As it is, I can get up to 5 armor/clothing crafting tools going at the same time thanks to the the master tailors solution to the Master Tailor/Artisan bug fix. I have a macro thats /selectdraftschematic 56 which is my ribbed shirts so all I have to do is hit F9-F12 and then F8, dbl click the resources and enter 3 times . Steel is going to be the problem. I share resources with my friend who is going for master weapons smith so I usually mine steel for him in the hard to reach places and he trades me lower grade metal to grind when he uses the steel for his weapons. Oh well he will have to wait I guess. Also money isnt an issue. I play to have fun, I don't need to make a profit. 30-45 min a day shooting paralopes pays for my house, 3 harvesters and 2 generators.

and dont you just get inundated with requests for dusters ALL DAY LONG. When you say you cant make them yet - they want to know if you will be able by tommorrow. At the speen im going - I tell them weeks and they arent too impressed.

By the way, does the amount of sockets that you can get - or the ability to get sockets on tailord items go up with tailoring 1-4skill as well as colour and experimentation?

talk about luck. I went to train field wear I, had to take a shuttle to another town. When I passed by the bank i saw a master and a novice tailor, so i didn't have to pay 6k to be trained. I tiped 500 creds though for the training. Hopefully I can get the master tailor to train me in my next skills(should be able to get 1 skill level per day up untill the field wear 4, that might take 2 days).

Yea I get spammed all the time for stuff. I don't mind. I only grind when I'm a few K from my next skill. Hell I gained 1/3 the XP I need for Tailor 2 last night just making stuff for customers. I do pretty good business now that I have planetary advertising.

Hehe those that have delt with the spam for dusters (there are FAR to many Neo wanna-be's in this game I tell ya), you may get a kick out of this Fanta Shokata spoof I did when there was a big thread going around on the dev board.

I don't think theres a way to use the crafting tool through the command prompt. Heres the link to the commands for the game. http://swg.stratics.com/content/index.php?Cat=4&uid=170.

Basically the easiest way to grind is to use the hot key commands(F1-F12). I set F8 to /selectdraftschematic 56. 56 is the schematic number for my ribbed shirt. You will need to try a bunch of numbers as the schematic number goes in order by which you obtained the schematic. I then have F9-F12 along with shift+F9 set to armor/clothing crafting tools. Then all you do to grind is hit one of the crafting tools, wait for the menu to pick the schematic, hit F8, dbl click the resources, then enter 3 times. I don't think you can fully automate grinding since you have to select resources for a schematic.

Hmm thats weird, the only request I have got was for a wookie pullover. But I guess Nashal on Talus is under population on the Kauri server so there arn't that many people on.

You can only have 1 open at a time, however it takes 33 seconds to make a ribbed shirt. Who is going to sit there for 33 seconds again to start crafting. Thats why you have 4-5 tools and you make one, then move to the next and by the time the first one is done you should be on your last tool so you can start at the begining again.

Thanks for the toolbar shortcut, that will help a TON. one less key click per ribbed shirt means 10000's of key clicks saved. My pinky finger thanks you.
