Thread: Would you like me to train you?
What is really starting to irratate me is not only are they being rude when they ask for free training (that I paid for myself from the NPC), but now I keep getting asked to give them free resources to help them powergrind to the next level.
*boogle*
I had on guy last night that was adamant that I should give him 3000 metal so he could grind to whatever it was he next needed. But I have also been asked for fiberplast, hides, and polymer without the merest hint of payment or even a thankyou for the training.

Fantastic Nalinya, saves me the money of having to travel to bestine for training, as Im on corellia also. Ill be sure to look ya up when im ready for more training. Thanks for being generous.
Just FYI, there is one NPC Tailor trainer on Corellia, in Doaba Gurfel, between the Hotel and guild hall.
That really stinks. ![]()
The last time I had put myself on searchable, I had two /tells within minutes from people looking for training---not asking me though. Same situation you went through. And after being told where I was located (it's almost literally a 5-6 min run out of Theed, because of where my PA chose to place roots) I was told I was too *f-ing* far for them to bother. Nice. It's no skin off my back....I don't know why people have to be rude though.
I personally paid for all of my training, all the way to master. Luckily I had someone willing to fork over the cash (hubby), but then again, he gets free clothes from me so he'd better not complain. LOL!

I'll train you Ri'a ![]()
Actually, I'm pretty sure you're higher than me, but I thought I should offer. I'm always very happy to train anyone (I need to save up those apprentice points). I've had good luck getting training too, but I'm always polite when asking (thanks Eivo!). I don't understand why anyone wouldn't be polite when they ask, after all you are asking the competition to make you more able to steal their business ![]()
P'las
You displayed more patience than I would have. I would have told them where they could find the NPC trainer. and booted their ass from my store.
Wish you were on my server. I'd be the nicest requester of your services you'd ever seen. Luckily there's a few of us tailors on Tat (Eclipse) that play the train game with each other. Still, if they're not on, I just hit the old NPC.

Yeah, this is why I started feeling uncomfortable about asking for training. The person I asked wasn't rude or anything, just kind of gave me the impression he really would rather not (although he did agree to do it). That got me thinking.. and feeling more and more uncomfortable about it. So I just went to Moenia and paid for my training.
Oh well.. I'll try not to be sogrumpyand I'll train the next person who asks nice.. :-)

I can't stand rude peopel in real life, and I really have a hard tiem dealign with them in a game. I try to think "maybe they are not too familiar with MMORPG's" or "maybe becasue it is comming across a text medium I am loosing something, and maybe they are not being rude at all".
Butthen I think "It takes a few key strokes to thank someone or to say please, that's all I ask"
Is it a big deal? Yes it is to me I treat everyone with respect immediately until they show me they do not deserve it, so yeas manners go a long way with me.
I don't ignore these people, but I won't go out of my way to help them either. I at times try to make an effort to teach them the error of their ways, this generally does not go over well. Who wants to admit they are in some way flawed?
Anyhow I don't refuse to teach anyone, but I will ask that they ask me nicely. I don't like the use of a lot of net shorthand like "ty" for thank you, but I will not discriminate based on that either. If they throw out a "ty" to themthey have thanked you, they are just notthe same type of person as you hardly a reason to look down on them. After all who here is perfect?
This is for the novice tailors. Not all of you.. just some of you.
I'm VERY happy to train anyone... for free. I don't ask for any payment to train you. Even though I paid the NPC trainer for all of my training except Fieldwear I (thank you again, Rava). All I ask is that you be polite. ASK! Say please! Say thank you! That's it. I hadTHREE novice tailors irritate me yesterday. If you see yourself in this, just don't do it again.
First novice tailor: You there?
me: yes. Can I help you?
NT: I need training
me: <no answer hoping they'll actually at least ASK me>
NT: whre u at?
me: My shop.
NT: omw
(note this person did NOT ask if I minded training them or if I was busy or if I was going to be leaving my shop or logging out... they just said they "need training")
Novice tailor arrives and says "hello". I'm with another customer so I just ignore them for the moment.
NT: You going to train me? <throws a group invite at me>
me: Just a moment, please, NT
NT: I don't have all day.
I just ignore that
NT: come on! it only takes you a second!
At this point, I trained this person so they would go away because I wasn't going to get into an arguement with customers around. The next time they come to be trained, they will discover that they can't get in cause they've been banned! They couldn't even be bothered to say "Thank you". All I got was a "ty" as they walked out the door.
Already feeling a bit abused, another novice that I've trained before sends me a tell:
nt: you at your shop?
me: yes
nt: cool i got the points for (whatever it was they wanted training in)
me: nice
nt: i'm comin now
me: <no response, don't feel it deserves one>
nt: if you leave your shop tell me
me: ok
nt: i'll be there in a few minutes
me: < no answer>
Novice arrives, I train them. Again, just a "ty" and out the door. I'm NOT asking for anything more than to be treated with respect in my house and for people that I'm doing a service for to say please and thank you. "ty" isn't enough, in my book. I'm saving you afortune. Typing 6 extra letters and using the space bar once isn't too much to ask. By this time, I'm truly annoyed.. so I leave my shop to run missionswith hubby. Sunday I had put up with nightmare customers, now two rude tailors in a row on Monday. I'd just had it. So I took off my master tailor tagAND went anon. And I get another tell.
nt: Are you on?
me: <thinking it was a customer cause I can't keep track of all the novice tailors> Yes. Can I help you?
nt: you going to be on for a while?
me: <thinking good, don't have to give up the missions for a customer, can deal with them a bit later> yes, I will
nt: I just got the points for <whatever she wanted training in>
me: that's nice
nothing more from the novice for about 15 minutes. I figured they got the message that I wasn't interested in dealing with rude ppl from my "that's nice". I'm on my way back to my house to pick up a pet stimpack when I get an email from the novice "Are you coming to your house anytime soon?" By this time I had HAD it. I just sent an email back saying "wasn't planning on it", and turned around. Note, I was within 500m of the house. I just wasn't going to help someone that couldn't be bothered to even ask formy help instead of expecting it. Had my husband go into the house to pick up the stimpacks (which ended up working out cause he had a customer there). The novice tailor waited for quite some time it seems.. even after I sent the email saying I wasn't going to the house.
Getting to master tailor is difficult, and if I can make anyone's life easier by training them, I'm happy to. It's a long, expensive road and I well know it. But I'm through training anyone who doesn't ask or doesn't say thank you.
Having said that, I also trained anothertailor yesterday who asked politely, made sure I wasn't busy with customers and thanked me nicely. In fact, he and I sat for quite some time just chatting, laughing and bouncing ideas for new outfits off of each other. He even took over for me when it was 1am and I was falling asleep at the keyboard and a customer needed something else.
Anyway.. rant over. I'm going back to decide what I can take OFF my vendors (and what I'm going to do with the items) before they up the maintance fees.

I hate this attitude. "Oh, Wu's on, and I need so-and-so , so he'll train me."
Fat chance. Ask me politely, and I'll train you. Say thank you, and I'll train you again. That's all I ask. A little bit of courtesy is all that's required.
When I was moving up the ranks, I made sure to ask politely for training, and tip them at least 1k or ask if there was any way I could repay them for the training when my pockets were thin. Even if I'm tipping some factory-exploit, PA-supported grinder, the fact of the matter is, they're helping you. That deserves some gratitude, monetary or spiritual.
So now, if someone doesn't say "Thanks", or give me a /thank after I train them, then they're ignored when they come around looking again.
If your momma didn't teach you manners, then I guess I have to.
