Thread: What about Tailors?

Why is it that every patch release there really isn't anything being done to improve tailors? Is it me, or was the chef gear an attempt to throw candy at us while the real problems arent even being fixed?

At the same time, the looted schematics didn't do anything to help us out, really. Majority of people who want these items are the ones who have the schematic and the components already, and expect to get them for free because we're getting the schematic. Also, since the schematics are limited, if we do get lucky enough to get the components on our own, people don't want to pay the high prices for them. This is added to the fact that the only item that looks "new" is the crafter apon. It's pretty sad that all the items look the same as things we can already make. Really sad actually. It's insulting.

Am I alone in the fact that I just want new and different clothingitemsand more colors? I want to see the necklaces in my inventory or on my vendor too. (what the hell is the deal with that not being fixed yet? It's really embarassing for the devs to have something still lingering)

The reason why I became a tailor was purely the fact that i like creating new outfit combinations, new colors. I feel like im running out of things to come up with, given the tools we have. We need more tailoring schematics (just as architects are getting) and more colors! Why, after all these patches and updates, have they not listened to anything we're saying?

Yea, i was really excited about the chef stuff, till i made my first baker's hat and got, wait for it, ZERO color selection, what fun to craft, i've spent hours and hours laughing my silly w/ the crafting fun on that one.

Next let down, a guildie brought me an Exquisit (sp) dancer's leotard, he was sooo excited about looting a new clothing scheme for me. He didn't want a crate of them for free, didn't charge me for the scheme, was just genuinely excited that I, as his guildie, got a new scheme. I have been moving slowly up tailor tree, not master yet, only 3-3-3-1, but was soo excited about getting master to see this new scheme, only to find here on this very forum, wait for it, IT'S THE SAME THING AS THE EXOTIC LEOTARD! Wow, can't wait to start making that when i get master, oh wait, i get the exotic leotard then, woo hoo, i'm so excited, i just can't it, i'm about to lose control and i think i like it...ooo yea. (sarcasm button off now)

I really love to craft clothing, really love making up new outfits, can't wait to get master and be able to craft everything, but i'm scared to death that i'm gonna get bored w/o any new schemes once i get there, please Dev's give us some real love, not five mins in the closet.

I know we all feel unloved and and cheated, and believe its gotta be easy to just add the full color range to all the clothing (it may or may not be, I have no clue) and think the chef clothing is just a couple scraps to keep our mouths shut, and have the impression that we are not listened to. I want all this and new schematics as much as everyone else...I've been a master since middle october and have wished for all the same things. But I have had to sit back and look at the development of the game. I've had to consider that Tailors and people who want clothing are not the only ones playing the game. Sure, everyone wants clothes, but not necessarily everything else....Some things are additions specifically for a profession, but a lot of the updates have been game content that other professions piggy back on. Someone has to make them, after all. Player cities. These were done for the players and the content of the game, NOT so that architects could have more things to make. Architects just benefit from it. Mounts were not done so that CH could have another ability, but for the people. The same with Vehicles. Not added so artisans felt more useful, but so that players could have vehicles. Most everyone would have to agree, I think, that Chef was one of the most worthless professions, until the revamp. The chef clothing was NOT so WE could have new schematics, but because it was something the chefs really wanted available. Tailor is a lot more functional than chef was. I never considered Droid engineer because I, as many, knew it wasn't that great....so I agree that it should be next to revamped and improved. It doesn't matter that not everyone wants a droid. No one wanted food either, but now many do. With the DE revamp, more people will likely be interested in droids. Combat is also quite unbalanced in a lot of ways. I often see others saying "not everyone plays this to fight". Well, not everyone plays this to craft. Each crafting profession is extremely different with different uses for their items, save for some basics. Combat professions are mostly the same, but just different skills (at least from what I have seen). So its easier to tweak one thing to affect all the combat (even crafters with no combat skills can still usea CDEF pistol), than tweak 7 things for 7 crafters. I have no doubt that the tailor's day will come, and it will be glorious. If we can piggy back some schematics off a few revamps and updates until then, fine, I can live with that, because I know they are not to "insult" us, or "tease" us or "give us scraps". Thats my 2 credits, anyway. (Oh how I wish they would just give us the whole color palette regardless though! lol c'mon, we need it bad!)

It's just you, lol. In no way were the new chef schematics "throwing candy at us", that was all about chef love, nothing more. Everytime we talk about what schematics we want the most, such chef items were at the very bottom, if even making the list at all. They are simply too specialized, and even after a big increase in the number of chefs there's still too few of them to matter.

I actually think the Bake Master's Hat would be quite popular if we could use our full color palette on it. It's probably the best-looking all-around headwear item we have. (Which, admittedly, isn't saying a whole lot....)

Quite simply, we haven't gotten much love b/c we're probably the profession that needs it the least.
What other professions main gripes are graphic glitches or lack of full color pallette? Maybe Architect but those aren't they're main gripes. I've been peeking in on them, having decided to be a furniture crafter

I've heard this so many times, and it...propaganda. Not that you, intentionally are doing that Dex...but I think you believe it like a few other folks in this forum. In actuality I think a lot of professions are "almost" ok. The problem with the professions is that once mastered, they become boring. I think this was in the design to make folks surrender and do something else with their single character. It hasn't always happened that way and a lot of folks just surrender the game. But most professions are very playable, albeit, unnecessary or overpowered. I mean...I've not heard a smuggler say they couldn't play the profession, but its getting a revamp. I've seen a LOT of droid engineers surrender but the profession is working.

Tailoring is similar to all other professions. We work, but we're boring as it is. I LIKE being a tailor and in order to keep myself from surrendering I openned other accounts....hoping for the future. I am looking forward to publish 7 for a lot of reasons but I don't suppose we're getting new schematics. I really wish that folks in this forum would stop being so retiring about how we're ignored...I'm pretty irritated...I went past angry a while ago.

We (tailors) may not be first on the list, but Jake Rodgers did say there will be new clothing (mentioned right after Image Designer and Dancer.) Check it out here. One can only hope that, like weapons, there will be lots of clothing. (One can also only hope that ID gets done soon—pretty excited about that—and tailor follows close behind…excited about that, too)

We have gotten a LOT of loving (mostly in the early months of the game)and we have over 200 schematics and over 200 colors. I'm a Tailor/Merchant/Image Designer and feel like Tailor is a very stable and content healthy profession compared to my other two. That said, we will eventually be due for new loving, and as Syzygy has said the art team has moreclothes in store for usin the future Dancer clothing and wookiee clothing have been specifically mentioned as being in the works, and we have already seen a few surprises (like the apron and chef clothing) that were unexpected. I'm not saying we shouldn't be expectant and hopeful of new content, but I do feel we should be positive about how great our profession presently is, and how much work clearly went into it.

Hmm, you must be talking about Beta then, because to my knowledge the chef schematics were the first new ones we've gotten since launch. And it just makes me shake my head when I hear "new stuff is coming" because that's what they've said all along *looks at watch* now 8 months later, here we are with almost no new content. Another thing, is that when you factor in ther nerfs (the two biggest being removal of experimentation, and the upcoming vendor limits) I feel that it has been pretty much a wash as far as whether or not we're any better than 8 months ago. The fact that tailor was relatively bug-free was a very nice thing back at launch, but it's little consolation now. What's going to keep people interested is mainly new content. With new content comes new bugs, I'll take more bugs please, lol.

The other thing that is disturbing is that we seem to have no identity or voice. Tailor seems to be an undesirable enabler for things that the devs actually do care about. For example we "get" clothing decay when there is talk about needing money sinks. We "get" BE tissues when BE is being worked on. We "get" chef schematics when chefs are being worked on. And all the while things are being removed and nerfed and our issues are completely ignored.

Sorry if I sound a bit synical, that's just cause I am, lol.
