Thread: Heads up: Top 5 rolling around again!

Okay, not SOON, but it's about that time where I'll be updating the top 5 issues, as well as writing a "state of the profession" doc. Because I'm planning a cross-country move for mid-September, I'll be trying to do a bunch of the work now (though conceivably this won't be due for another 2 months).

For your reference:

What's on our plate now from a few weeks ago.

The last top 5.

As for the State of the Profession, it will be my first I'll try to address more "sweeping" issues than our top 5, such as the concern that new content is being added in the form of looted items instead of crafted items (which includes the limited-use schematics) which puts the gunbunnies in control of game items.

Any preliminary thoughts?

(P.S. I've written a good chunk of the Combat Balance Summit document now, and should be finishing it up this week.)

I think we should add "increasecrate size of tailor components" to the top 5. At fanfest, when asked about it, they said it would be trivial to do, and they thought that for tailors (and only tailors) this would be an appropriate change. Why do this now? Well, it helps just a teeny weeny bit with storage and a teeny weeny bit with the whole vendor limit debacle. So may as well get that done. I'd try for a crate size of maybe 500 or 1000

So I'd replace the necklace thingy with increased crate size. And the socket thingy with a plea for more bio tissues. The socket thing annoys me a lot, but I can't say it would make a huge difference to me.

Ooo! I gladly add my vote to the "increase crate size of tailor components" proposal. That would help a lot with the vendor limits/storage housesissues. I sell a lot of crates, singles and packaged and having more units per crate -- oh my gawd -- would love it!

Sockets. You know what? I don't care about sockets anymore. I never cared one way or the other before either, but once they nerfed them and the SEA market sort of demanded 4-socket clothes, it still wasn't much of an issue for me. If I had to make several of something, it just became vendor stock.

One question: Whatever happened to that statement made sometime ago that they were going to make backpacks on vendors transparent? That would help ever so much with packaged outfits sales!

Yep, nothing says mass production like having a factory run fit into one or two crates total. =]

i invison some Jetson's type machine where you put in a ton of stuff and the end result is a really really small box.

Increase size yes.... 1 crate for 1 factory run no, its a bit over the top there arthur and even for your standards =P

*edit* oh and for something to add in, those holo emotes thing... use that technology to get a droid to display outfits for us, possibly on/over top of a client or just floating in mid air or even on some generic maniquine (sp) thing

(...Master TK to pick them up...lmao)

I would also like to see the crate amounts increase, at the very least to 50 for all, preferably 100.

Another thing I have always wanted is something to make our handmade coloring a bit easier. Since the hot topic is dyes, I think that would beone way to implement this. Make Master Tailor usable only dyes, for use 1 time only. That way, at least we could have the basic supply of the items made, to be colored when put on vendors, yet crated until then for maximum storage. IMO, this would also help in the event that they keep the insanely low vendor item caps as proposed currently.

If they really want to make our jobs easier, they could implement a way to customize factory runs. Make a schem that instead of making 15 black boots, you can set it to make 5 white, 5 black and 5 blue. But I see that as some superior coding that's not likely to happen. I'd love that, though, for all those times I need to restock but I'm feeling lazy. hehe

While I generally like that we can be creative in our crafting, it is sometimes a ton of tedious work, making 2 of each color of everything. With more in-depth customizing, we can still be creative and keep our stock of fresh color combos, without feeling like drones.

Obviously we still want more schems, and the darn Leia skirt, sockets fixed, the "2 grey boxes color option that changes nothing yet is still there after a year" dealio, clothing decay and lack thereof, and personally I'd like to see experimentation for either more sockets, or higher condition clothing. But, I think all those things were on the last few top 5 lists, so I'll leave it at that.

hahaha... shhhh.... I really only want everything to be in crates of 50 or 100, but by asking for 1000 it gives us a lot of bargaining room, rofl.

Hey, and with those vendor nerfs coming I was some big'ole crates. The only problem is that those crates will be so big that you'll need master TKA just to pick em up, lol.

Ooo! Ooo! *jumps up and down with hand raised* One thing that might help a bit with the vendor nerf (for tailors) and a very old bug issue of ours would be if they actually fixed Wookiee clothing to go into the correct category on the bazaar and vendors? Can they fix that please? That would save a lot of us from having to place a Wookiee only vendor, or leaving the poor darlings to sort through all that stuff they can't wear, or... worst case... no one carrying Wookiee clothes and making them all special order or available on bazaar only.

Yah?

Probably been said before but ... maybe there should be a Tailor Vendor that allows people to browse all the wearables that can be made(like a catalogue along with all the appropriate descriptions and species limitations that a Tailor sees in their datapad). The potential customer can then select what they would like and also choose quantity and colors. This would go as a request to the Tailor who would then let the customer know if they can currently craft the item and how much it will cost. The tailor would then go to the vendor and retrieve a data disc that holds the color choices and can be added into the schematic (somehow, this is just an idea in progress). The finished item can loaded to the vendor to be retrieved by the customer, possibly an Auth code similar to the process of destroying and repacking harvesters and houses, this code can be something sent to the customer once the tailor accepts the request. This is more of a special request approach but could cut back on the clutter all around.

I'd very much like to see some kind of holographic mannequin implemented that can be placed in your house/shop and dressed in various combinations of clothing. Similar to what we can do with Vendors, but without the actual "vendor" ability. I''m not running a haunted boutique.... I'm not practicing Jedi Psychokinesis... I don't want my samples floating in mid-air scaring the customers.

First off, Colors ::we still do not have a standardized palate, and we still do not have any universal color - coding or namingprocess. Whereas I know that some people in the community have come up with colorizing charts, these are in effect third party solutions to a glaring problem in the game.

Secondly :: Dyes. Do Not Let THese come about in ANY way. Even a 1 time use master tailor only sort of thing -- this will be the toehole that allows for the eradication of this profession. Start with a teensy thing that masters can do and then it snowballs. Do not let dyes into the game for any reason whatsoever. This solution can be handeled by a universal dcolor palate and color coding process.

Thirdly :: I'd like a customer operated order placement terminal available to ALL crafitng professions at the master level. Something that sits in your shop,something that would generate a skeletal schematic for the user to customize. This schematicwould stay in the terminal and would be accessible by the crafter who owned the terminal, and would more quickly facilitate the custom ordering process. I see this as something that would in effect be a crafting tool in that it would prepare a schematic with variables set like*Colors*, BE enhancements (Not specific pluses, but types ofenhancements / bonuses) that we as craftspeople would have to upload to our datapads and then fill with items to complete the schematic. Once the schematic is complete, we would then have to build the piece of clothing. Once that is done wecan place the item back into the order terminal and it emails the person who requested it to come and pick it up. They pay for theitem and then it's all done.

Fourthly :: Eyewear!More Headwear!

Fifthly :: More Hawtpants!

Rock well;

I definetly agree with the colors - making it all 1 palette would be great, a lot easier to have matching outfits! AlsoI like Urgra's suggestion of textures from the 'whats on our plate now' thread- that would be good!

I have to agree also with:- new schematics (permanent & including factional clothing)

new schematics (permanent & including factional clothing)

BE stuff - not just for combat, I think there should be crafting skills enhancments

increasing the crate size - especially as we need a lot of components

and having something that makes customers able to find theiroutfits easier and in the color they want would be extremely helpful.
