Thread: How Many Have Fulfilled Guild Uniform Orders?

I just want to start off by saying that I am not a tailor, but I often come to this forum for information regarding the names of clothes and other little queries like that. So I just wanted to drop by with another. In the first guild I was a part of I always made certain to seek out Master Tailors to have them make guild uniforms. First just formal uniforms for meetings and other guild events and that later progressed into military uniforms for the guild members to wear during everyday activities. Now that I am the leader of my own guild I am following suit by issuing basic duty uniforms, field uniforms and dress uniforms. Kauri has many great Master Tailors who always work promptly and can fulfill my usually sizable orders without any complaints from myself when completed, (Siren, Tunturni, GeorgieGirl and before he gave up tailor Kurse). So how many other Tailors across the servers have had requests for guild uniforms?

It's one of the best jobs. Get a final sign off on the clothes they want with each colour, then make the schematics for each, and drop off the crates of clothes for them. I always keep an extra crate or two worth of resources aside for a week after, because they will usually come back wanting more. As soon as people see the uniforms, others want to join up, and the guild suddenly needs another dozen

Well that's cool, glad I'm not the only guild leader doing this! If you recall what the uniform orders consisted of I'd be very interested to hear what guilds on other servers are clothing their members in.

Alot ask for the Dress Uniform Jacket, or the Long Formal Jackets in Imp or Rebel colours. I try to discourage the Dress Slacks and Suit slacks as they take up so much resources and are quite expensive, but they really are the best pants for the outfit, along with High Quality Boots.

I have had an inordinate amount of requests for "I pwned the imps" or "I took down a rebel base on <date>" Which kinda surpised me. Knowing which guild was planning a raid on which base is like the generals of a war announcing the battle plans on CNN the day before it happened.

All in all, the guilds that want this are getting started, so don't have alot of cash for an initial purchase of uniforms. But they do come back asking for additional crates later

I have done a few. Most recent was a 5 peice outfit for 100 people. Multiple factories are helpful for this kind of thing; I needed to make about 1000 extra components to get this order out.

One pain when making clothes in a factory is having to match the exact serial numbers of the components. What I now do is name each run a different thing so it is obvious which crates to use; I expect you are like me and have crates from a number of different runs in the output hopper. So I have runs that are "Synthetic Cloth", "SC", "RFP", "J Setting", "MF" etc etc. Easy to match up without having to examine the serial numbers. Not really a killer tip my it saves me a lot of time.

Both times I've done uniforms it's been more of a pain than it is worth.

First time I cranked out 10 uniforms on the spot. The next day the guy told me that he had changed his mind on the color. I knew he wasn't going to try to return the olive green and gray uniforms, but I just didn't feel like cranking out another 10 cheap uniforms (belted jacket and striped slacks). So I vaguely told him I was away from shop. Never heard from him again. Probably changed his mind back.

Second time, the guy was very polite and paid half up front. I made him samples, because I didn't think he had really thought through the colors. It took him a week to look at the samples, I never saw him online, and I was tempted to just refund his money (at this time I was moving my shop 2 planets over, and it was not fun). Sure enough, he wanted different colors. I told him I would make him some more samples, and he just said "make me the uniforms, I trust your judgment." He explained that he had had RL issues and that he had not been on much. <red flag>. So I checked my friends list daily and never saw him on again. I'm glad I didn't just make 20 uniforms. Nice guy, very polite, but what was I going to do with 20 sets of matching clothing? If I see him online again, I'll refund his money.

I probably wouldn't make uniforms, in the future, except for my own guild or for really close friends.

I've done this only once, and will never do it again.

Making crates of uniforms for a guild is one thing. Being informed that they've changed their minds and want something different, with no intention of purchasing the originals, is something else altogether. But the worst -- the very worst -- is when persons from the guild want completely unique uniforms at the discount rate (I offered a discount since the bulk purchase was so large, originally). Particularly when they decide they want *several* different uniforms each, and it becomes obvious that they simply want non-uniform garments at a cheaper rate.

I'm sure that most guilds don't operate in such a fashion, but it's not a chance I'd be willing to take again, not given the amount of time consumed and income lost.

I am the Master tailor for Ghost, the largest imperial guild on Bria (over 350 members)

I have made all their uniforms all 6 parts for 350 people in enhanced and unenhanced versions.

We wanted something different (uniform wise) so I used the master red and black colors with the Decorative vest which is wearable by anyone and anything and has good color choices. It looks very fascist and regal.

We recently used all black camos and red undershirts with enhanced cloth so that all our uniforms are now enhanced with +17 beed defense or +4melee+14stun defense.

I also have red and black doctors dresses and other profession specific gear.

We gave out the enhanced stuff and I sell the boots gloves and non enhanced versions of the uniform on a uniform vendor next to our HQs for a reduced cost.

Everyone is getting to know the Red and Black on Bria and oddly enough nobody else is wearing the red and black decorative vest anymore as a lot of people do not want to be confused with Ghost.

Ahh, the power of clothes.

BTW, it does help to be a leader of the guild and pretty much get to do what you want with the uniform. Otherwise I can see the problems above happening.

Really though, every large guild needs their own master tailor. If you are a master tailor it will make you rich as well because while you can make discount uniforms and help the guild, you can also have a normally priced vendor selling everything else that people want and you will get good advertising.

I have done several guild orders. I have never had a problem working with any of the guilds yet. All have treaated me well and typically I can get the guild order out for them in about two days pending on the order and if I have enough resources on hand.

Guild orders are typically my easiestorders. They usually know what they want and I do not need to spend alot of time on the orders, just start the factories and wait.

If you're taking a uniform order, I find it's best to get a feel for your clients early on. Schedule a fitting with multiple members of their guild, make sure everyone agrees on color, style, and price, and go to work. If they squabble, make petty complaints, or otherwise sound a little off, dump the contract. You'll only get burned.

Best experience I had doing uniforms was with the Dragons of Alderaan guild. I got input from 4 different people and wesettled on a nice Dress Uniform Jacket with Paramilitary Camos design, plus accessories. Made 50 full sets at discount, and still turned a tidy profit. Took about 3 days to run the factories. Since then I've had a stream of return visits asking for enhanced versions of the various components. Altogether, crafting a uniform is one of my favorite tasks.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm on Kauri and would be willing to give it a shot. Only, I'm not on as much as other people
